It's not finalized yet. The price has yet to be set in stone. As far as a backup goes, do want a fixed volt bottom feeder or a VV tube mod? It would depend on you. I have never owned a bottom feeder before, but I'm getting curious to see how I would like them.
I was trying to make the exact same choice. Indulgence are releasing a V4 VV model in Feb as well that might address some LT issues. One of the other mods I was looking at (almost double the price) is the IPro.

I have the lavatube as a backup pv. I may get a bottom feeder to check it out, I like the lavatube but notice it drops voltage with my tank which is kinda annoying. Other then that it vapes like a champ

I have a Provari that I vape at home and use a REO Grand as my traveler. This pair seems to be my sweet spot. So, the Vapage XL could be a good fit for you.

In my opinion, they're two completely different beasts. I haven't delved into the world of VV yet, but I do have a tube mod and a VMod XL. I can't really say one's a backup to the other. Different functionality for different situations. I will say that for those thinking about a bottom feeder, the XL is very nice. I've put 50+ mL through it, and no problems.
