I've owned a provari (mini and regular) and a full sized sigelei Z-max but the zmax mini is listed as slightly taller. For what it's worth, the provari (any size) is a nicer device than the zmax (any size) overall. So if you can afford the provari mini, I would go with that. Nicer build, nicer feeling in the hand and a smoother (zmax's are very pulsed) vape.

What are you attaching to it?

I went with the ... as a backup device
Sigelei Telescoping ZMax V3 Flat-Top
- GREAT Around Mod
- Stainless Steel, Brushed Finish, Telescoping, Flat-Top Design ...
- Variable Voltage / Variable Wattage / Very Affordable
- 18350 Mini Mode = SEXY!
- No confusion, No mistaking this ZMax for another variable voltage mod.

Checkout ...
- "Thread: Sigelei zmax v3 telescopic flat top?"
- "Thread: Sigelei Zmax V3 Telescopic (flat top or other) reports: one week later"
- all the goods, all the not so good, and more

For a backup I would lean toward the Zmax due to the cost. For an everyday device I would go with the Provari, it's a better made better backed device. Plus the Provari is shorter and to me that's the point when going mini and living with the reduced battery life of a 18350.

Being a telescope you could buy the 18490 or 18500... Four config are possible, including 2 stacked 18350

I have the ProVari Mini and absolutely love it - it is my go to everyday device. I also have the Zmax telescope and it was to be my on the go device, but it is so heavy feeling even in the mini mode.

I love the Pro but because of the investment - I don't like to take it on the go! But that's just me!

I think again it is all up to personal preference. Up until my 6 month vapaversary, I had only been using eGo type batteries with T3's. I decided to treat myself and went WAY overboard. I ordered a Vamo and a Zmax telescope with some carto tanks. While waiting for these to arrive, I saw a ProV Mini in the classies (white with blue LED) and I just did it.

Now the other two sit there, think I have only used the Vamo once since it was received. But that's me...I prefer the vape from the ProV. But that is what is so amazing about vaping - it is what works for each person.

At some point, I will have to gather all of this unused equipment and have a fire sale.

I have a provari mini I really like it, I also have the sigelei zmax v3 flat top tele which if I don't know that I only pay $57 and some change for I wouldn't believe it, super nice PV! and I am also in a co-op for a sigeli zmax mini which has plenty of room left if anybody wanted to jump in and get a good price on one could. my point is I don't think you would be unhappy with any of these mods

I went provari mini for my first PV.

I talked to a couple friends and a store owner and the provari mini fit my wants/needs at the time.
Very happy with it! As every stated, the quality is ever so present, the size is very portable, and I love all the digital features.
For me the provari is great on the go, fits comfortably in all my pant pockets, nice heft and the overall design finish is satisfying in the hand.

Richmond, Va...Right in Altria's back yard.
Provari is built to last...Z-max is built to maximize profits/offer more features.

Compare the components used in each of them.....The LED screen on a Provari might not be as fancy or show as much information as an OLED screen BUT its been tested to be extremely reliable in thousands of applications for the past couple of decades.

The OLED has one fatal flaw that should have prevented its inclusion on any mod as far as Im concerned, and thats susceptibility to damage from liquids.
