The "official" watt limit, according to Cecilia at ProVape, is 14.5 watts (& 3.5 amps). The real kicker is that there is a 3rd number that very few people seem to know about... For lack of a better term, I call it the "ProVari number"... It's the product of multiplying the watts times the amps... And it cannot exceed 50.
Both the amp limit and watt limit can, under certain conditions, be exceeded but the "Provari number" cannot... Under any circumstances.

Is that real or sarcasm the provari number?

Wrapping a 1.2-1.3 coil sorry baby interrupted my thought process. I own a provari and I love it.

The best answer I can give... Personal taste and preference... There are a lot of very good coil builders in this sub-forum... Several of them appearing on this thread... Everyone of them will give you different opinions as to what makes for the best coil on a ProVari.

All of the numbers that are thrown around are purely academic. They give you a starting point and a direction for building coils but they can't determine what is going to make your favorite vape. If nothing else, they can help you quantify what you like or don't like about a particular build and provide guidance in terms of where to go next.

Personally, I think wire gauge is a more important consideration than ohms when building coils for a ProVari.

amps times watts? My coil right now reads 1.2 and my voltage is set at 4.2 that's 3.5amps and 14.7 watts. 3.5x14.7 equals 51.45

This isn't meant to be a smartazz statement or trying to prove you wrong! This is what is showing on my v2 provari right now and it's firing and working fine.
I'm using 30g

Just checked it myself and was able to do the same thing. I guess that not even the PV Number is set in stone. Great find. That's not a combo that I'd tested before... The test wire got really hot, really fast. Bet that's a great vape! :)

I'm guessing that the voltage drop through the RBA is allowing it to fire without throwing an error.
