Neb...has presented great info (as usual)....I researched heavily the Provari, Darwin, and the recalled EQ before purchasing and decided on the Darwin and have not regretted my purchase in any way.....for me the main deciding factor was choosing variable wattage vs. variable voltage.....but thats just my preference.....as said before, the Provari and Darwin are the top-of-the-line.....so you choose your preference...

I'm new to vaping, only a month in, and have almost completly stopped the cigs (this was my goal and reason for taking up vaping). I started with the provari and so far it's been perfect. I have nothing to compare it to but it makes me wonder, does it get better than this? I'm still trying to find a juice that tastes like a Marlboro and fooling around with cartomizers and tanks, but the PV has done everything superbly well so far. I'm thinking of a back-up PV in case I have a problem. Without one I'd probably go back to cigs. This is a great forum, lots of good info for newbies, for vets too it seems.

I think Nebula summed it up perfectly, but I'll throw my 2cent in anyway. I researched a lot, asked people here on ECF who I've "known" for some time who own one or both, and then stacked up my own needs against both. What it finally came down to for me was form factor. I think both mods admirably do the same job differently. They both seem to be high quality and well built. You probably wouldn't get hurt too much by choosing either and then deciding you'd made a mistake. They both fly out of the classies at a high rate of speed for almost full price.

Nebula! thanks that was helpful, i forgot what i posted exactly, but what i really was asking was more waht do people like abou ttheir provari or their darwin, losts of the little asthetic things i could care less about , and i have noticed the price is basically the same, if you notice people in the thread will say very vague things like i had trouble with the provari with blah blah blah, and i immediatly ask what was the problem? so now i will ask you! lol what do you like about the darwin? not a which one is better, but more your opinion on it, and why its better for you?

thank you for your input, im going to check out the threads you posted in the mean time!

Nicely stated NebulaBrot and no matter which one the OP decides on he will be getting the top end of what the market has to offer in PV technology right now. Choosing between a Vari or a Darwin is difficult but it certainly beats deciding whether to buy a pack of Marb Reds or Lights!!!!

you are so right! lol either choice may be 250 or so now, but over the year, i know i will have saved a lot, and i have such a huge support group in ecf! lol

I am very hesitant to answer this question as I am trying to dissolve the "debate". Features I like, others may not. As soon as I answer this question, especially in an open forum, then others are bound to respond and the "debate" resumes.

You might consider posting the following question in each of the two forums I linked in my other post:
"I am considering getting a _________. Please tells me what you like and perhaps what you do not like about your _________" You will probably get many answers and that may help you decide.

As I said, these are personal preferences and one really is not "better", just different. Many iPhone fans would say it is "better" and Android and vice versa. They can be just as adamant as vapors can get about their PVs.

Personally, I'd rather not make an open post about my personal preferences - especially in a thread: this or that

The features are clear and obvious: form factor, battery life in a single charge (vs carrying an extra), Variable voltage vs power regulated and set to watts, manual setting vs automatic setting, etc. There is no way to say any of these are "better" they are just different - like iPhone and Android.

If you have any vapemeets in your area, go and you are likely to see both devices there and perhaps the owners will let you try them. if not, come to Las Vegas for Vapefest - should be the biggest vapemeet ever and I KNOW both devices will be represented along with lots of vendors, happy vapors and more juice than you can ever possibly vape! :p

Provari forever.

Stainless Steel. Protected display. Entirely sealed. It can actually take a beating, darwin will not. Works great with the new carto tanks on the market without a fail adapter.

stwonz, i see you have a lot of mods there, would you say provari is the best one you own, or say...in the top three? and is that the liquinator you are using with it? lastly have you ever used or played aroudn with a darwin?

Army tank is my favorite. Provari is second. I've owned almost every mod made out there that has something special to it, but all fail in some department. Army tank uses a switching regulator (greater battery life and almost no heat) that adjusts from 0-7v. It is a True VV for ALL voltage ranges. The Amp limiter in it is 3 amps, so 1.5 ohm dual and triple coil cartos can be fired over 5 volts. After all these mods and tons of cartos and attys from everywhere; I wanted a mod that would run everything and bottomfeed and be small. VV Army Tank does that. When the metal version is released, nothing out there will compare. 8)

I owned a darwin for about a month, dropped it once and broke it. Got it fixed then got juice inside of it. Sold it.
There is a gallery on my profile page with most of the mods I own or have owned on it. Get to see size comparisons.

ime5000 I am a user of both platforms! I have had the Vari since Dec and got my Dariwn around Feb.

I could go into a long comparision of both PV's but I will state that I use the Darwin for most of my vaping. The main reason is portability. While some have faulted the looks or design it is certainly much easier to carry around for daily use. I travel often and since I can charge off a USB and do not need to bring batts & a charger it makes it an easier travel companion. Is slips into a suit pocket or back pocket of a pair of jeans easily. I still use the Vari but mostly just at home while chilling in the Lazyboy and it works well with Tanks and various atty's. I have found my favorite setup for the Darwin is with a Iken V2 or Fusion Carto. The Darwin is the only top end PV that I have bought 2 of.

Others have stated that the unit is not robust or the arm is flimsy ---- well I have dropped my Darwins several times. Twice from at least 4 feet to concrete and while a carto and an atty did not survive the Darwins only had a scratch or two. Also note the Vari has hit the tile floor behind my bar at least three times and that unit took it just as well. So both units are top notch and both do what they say they will but, for me portability and the ability to dial in a wattage for whatever I throw at it has me using it much more than the Vari.

what kinda problems did you have and with what kinda attys? the arm on the darwin doesnt really bother me, i can get a gooseneck and pretty much put whatever i want on, weight and size arnt really big issues either, id prefer it big and rediculous so people stop yelling at me to quit smoking ciggs on campus, lol

the problems I had was I use LR attys and I could not vape with some of them (1.5ohm) over about 3.9v without getting errors.
The device is a great device other than that. This may not be a problem for you but was for me. The device itself worked flawlessly and I had no problems with the 2 of them I owned. good luck to you in your choice..

Middle of nowhere
I read about both and decided to buy the Darwin.
Went to the Ga. vape meet and had a chance to try both. The Darwin was much better for me. I did not like the Vari. To many buttons to push to get where I wanted, plus I don't like to carry batteries around.
I actually meet the guy that makes the Darwin.
He will stand behind the product. I agree both have had their problems but everything you get will be improved over time.
I'm not a fanboy of nothing either. I just liked the Darwin better on first impression.
I have read all the problems that was said about the Darwin. I will repeat everything you get will be improved over time.
I have not had any of the problems that have been mentioned.
Are either of them perfect? NO
It comes down to personal preference.
I will lean more to the Darwin because I have had it for a while now and I do not regret buying it.

I looked at both when I decided to go variable voltage. I think the Darwin is a solid unit, I just didn't care for the aesthetics of it. So, I went ProVari and have been extremely happy with my decision. It's a real solid pv. I haven't dropped it on the floor but I have knocked it over quite a few times and so far no issues. It's got a nice size juice well and with the 18650 extension it lasts me all day.
