Hi All,

PLEASE help me. I've got a provari which i love but i'm really struggling to find the best tank / atty / clearomizer etc. I've got a 6ml tank which takes dual coil cartomizers but i'm not so keen on it because it spits boiling hot fluid into my mouth and the carty's get blocked easily. I've also got a vivi nova which is ok but the flavour is very muted. I also get quite a few dry hits which i hate.

I'm not very good at DIY so i presume i'd also be rubbish with the repairable atomizers. Can anyone give me advice on what i should buy to vape with my provari ? I like tons of vapour & nice flavour. I don't care about throat hit at all.

Thanks in advance.

If your Vivi Nova has long wicks, you might try trimming them to where they just touch the sides of the tank. That helps the flavour very much.

As far as cartos, Single coil Boge SRs (3.0 ohm) have been working nicely for me. Depending on the juice I usually run them anywhere from 4.0 - 4.5 volts.

I'm interested. Why would this help the flavor? I'm in pretty much the same position as OP in that while the vivi nova is super convenient and sits nicely on the provari, it really does mute the flavors.

It has something to do with capillary action in the wicking. I don't understand all the science behind it but I suspect the longer wick may block a certain amount of the flavour molecules as the juice never really becomes a single compound, but rather a mixture of separate compounds. The shorter the distance the juice has to travel through the silica wick, the less it gets filtered and separated.

I have several Vivi Novas from v1 to v2.5 and my experience has been the same with all regarding short wick vs. long wicks.

One other point to note with it: if you're using v1, there's likely a lone wick laid across the top of the coil. This should be removed as it helps mute the flavour as well. Anything after v1 doesn't have this.

Some people swear the long wicks work fine for them, but most trim them. Many people have also rewicked them using cotton, bamboo, cheesecloth, gauze, etc., etc.

Another thing I forgot to post about it before: the little rubber "hat" on top of the head should only be pushed down to the little ledge it sits on. I usually stop well before that and let the top cap push it to where it needs to be when I screw it back on. If that guy is pushed too far down, it can choke the wicks so that they're not delivering the amount of juice to the coil that they should be.

My experience with the Vivi Nova is that I got muted flavor and very little vapor when i first used it.This was on an ego batt on the high setting of 3.7volts.I gave up on it and put it away. Then I got a Provari and saw a review that showed the 1.8omh Vivi Nova head actually coming in at 2.4omhs.I draged it out of the drawer and put mine on the Provari and checked the omhs.Sure enough, the 1.8 head was actually 2.4,so I ran the voltage up on the Provari to 4.6 and BINGO...perfect flavor, perfect vapor...been enjoying it every since...dont trust the omh rating on a device...check it befor ya vape it,and you might find things a tad bit easier.

I routinely use dual coil carto tanks on my Provaris. Hot juice spit into your mouth indicates a flooded carto. That happens with the Provari cranked up too high for the carto or pulling too hard and too fast on it when you hit it. I use 50/50 juice mix in a single hole punched carto. They last about 6 days in a tank before they need replacing.

I can't speak to the Vivi Nova's et al as I have never used them.

YMMV

If you like your carto/tank with the exception of the spitting DCCs, try single coil cartos instead. I was using Boge XL 3ohm cartos with 2 holes (that I punched) and getting good results at about 5v, until I got a bad batch of Boge cartos. Since then I've been using the SmokTech 3ohm single coil tank replacement coils with 2 pre-drilled holes and they've been working great. I'd say, try a few of each (Boge and SmokTech) and see which ones you like better.

For clearos, the ViVi Nova tank is probably the most popular right now, but I've been using the Kanger T2 lately and getting excellent results. You'll need a 510/eGo adapter to use the T2 on the ProVari, but they're cheap enough and it's probably a good idea to have one anyway.

I love my vivi nova and rebuilding them is very easy with a minimal amount of practice. I would suggest using cotton yarn wicks that are trimmed. This is what I have been using for a couple of weeks and won't go back to carto tanks. I taste flavor better out of the nova than any carto tank I've tried. I don't have a volt meter but I wrapped a monster coil last night that vapes like a freight train at 5.8v. Don't give up on your setup, a little fiddling with it should get you your desired outcome.

I got my Provari about 6 weeks ago and started out using DC tanks. Great flavor. Tried the Vivi Nova and got muted flavor. Dropped my Provari and found the Nova bends quite easily compared to the DC. Yes, it now sits sideways. (!) Anyway, I went back to the DCT and am so much happier! I will say, I seemed to get "blowback" from the carto everytime I used one that had been triple-hole punched. I'm sticking with the single hole and am much happier!

I don't know if I just got lucky or not, but I can honestly say that my Vivi Novas out perform every carto tank I own, no matter what carto is in it. Better flavor, better TH, better vapor production. Just straight up better. I've got a ton of stuff that works just fine that has not seen use in months since I got my Vivi Novas, and I'm rebuilding my own heads for them for a few cents a piece. My genesis tanks have even been feeling neglected, although unlike everything else they still get some love. I love the flavor you get with stainless steel wicks, but they are definitely more fiddly than the Vivi Novas. I honestly think that short of stepping up to a much more expensive genesis tank like the z-atty or similar, nothing compares, Even in comparison to a solid genesis tank, they have definite points in their favor for convenience.
