I want to preface this with, I HATE ELECTRICAL!! Scares the hell out of me and I do everything that I can to avoid it. So I was reading Mr. Morandir's post on the new tanks and started thinking to myself if there is anything that can be done to make it so the tanks could be used on the computers with a PT. So I had two questions:

1. Is USB 3.0 a consideration in any of these tests. From what I understand USB 3.0 is able to output more power and have less loss under load.

2. Would using a Y usb splitter help gain more power to the PT. Many components require 2 usb connections to get enough power to run, i.e. portable dvd players and the like. The Y splitter allows one connection from the device and two to the computer giving it access to dual power sources.

Again let me summarize by saying I have tried them both on my computer with the PT and without the tank. USB 3.0 seems to put out more power than 2.0 but it could all be in my head. The splitter idea works but I am not sure I am gaining anything out of it.

SIC0 sir will only say this, better to buy the wall adapter than risk your mobo at all. The y splitter might work, but refuse to even attempt it. Know for a fact the two sets of ports off the headers of my mobo each share 2a of power, meaning if only one device is plugged in on the set of two it can generate 2a of power from the top port. Even with the combined 4a of output using a y splitter and both top ports still wouldn't put my comp through it. That's a lot of stress on the ports, and the psu. The 5v line supplies power to more than just the usb ports on the computer, also supplies it to a number of components on the mobo itself. Better to spend the $12.95 or $17.95 on the wall adapters than what it will cost to fix the computer....
