Dearest experts :)
I'm looking to get a second PT in case my current one goes kaflooey on me and I get stuck without one - disaster! I have a Joye510 btw - everything I have hardware wise is from cignot.

I was looking into getting one without an inline battery but I have a question or 3 for ya.
1. Why buy one without an inline battery? What's the advantage?

2. Is this one 510 DIRECT PASSTHROUGH (NO IN-LINE BATTERY BOX) one that looks decent? (Don't expect you to review this - unless you happen to own one - just a quickie glance perhaps to see if it looks ok, I won't hold you to it; there! I put it in writing!)

3. Ok I admit it, I can't think of a number 3. I think I got it all covered in 2 questions after all :)

Just a note - I do use a USB/AC wall adapter so my PC won't be at risk at all.

Thanks bunches!

When I first glanced at the title of your question, I mentally composed my answer as recommending that particular passthrough. So I guess I just answered your second question. But a bit more detail:

How it "looks" (cosmetically) is in the eye of the beholder.;) The claims that Electro-Nic-Stix makes for it are impressive and they are one of ECF's approved suppliers. I almost ordered it myself recently (for use with adapter with my 801 atty), but I went with a Kr8 passthrough (better, I think, for my atty). For the 510 and for the money, the one you are considering appears to be a good choice. [The VP PT and Puresmoker PT probably are even better, but they are much more expensive.]

For the answer to your first question, I quote from the Electo-Nic-Stix website: "This Passthrough Will output 5 Volts to your 510 so you can vape at that 'sweet spot'." PTs with an inline battery simply provide a constant charge to the 3.7V battery so there is no improvement in vaping performance, just avoidance of having to recharge batteries. PTs like this pass 5V of power from the computer (or DC outlet with USB adapter) directly to your atomizer for a much more powerful experience, e.g., more vapor and TH.
