HIC, will you point me in the right direction for a great nutella recipe? My wife loves that stuff! Im going to be doing a big mixing session in the morning and would like to include that one for her.

OK, so I'm not HIC, but I did find HIC's post about it :)

Oh, that's an oldie. I'd delete it if I could. Here's a better one: 2% FA Hazelnut with 2% FA Cocoa. (no EM, no Cookie, no Sucrose, and 4% total flavoring will be plenty!) Those two make great Nutella, good stuff.

(Personally I like more cocoa flavor than hazelnut, but equal quantities taste more like the stuff from the jar)

If I don't especially like an FA flavor at 5% or less, I've never found one that improves with more. Some seem to have a double peak, where they taste their best at maybe 3%, fade or taste bad until 10%, taste okay again much higher. I get much better results with the lower peak. Cocoa is one of those; I think Halo's Belgian Cocoa is based on the "higher peak" of FA Cocoa.

In recipes I sometimes use as much as 6% FA flavor, but I've found even those benefit from dilution down to 3-5%. Most FA Tobaccos, way way less for me - over 2% and my head would explode, either single flavors or mixed. Their RY4 is the only one I can use higher. Dark Vapure of course, ideal at 0%. lol!

OK, you guys have convinced me (after just now finding & reading most of this thread)!

I got some FA tobacco flavors a couple years ago when I first started DIY'ing and made the mistake of mixing at too high of a percentage - hated the flavors and never tried them again.

Now that I know better (keep those FA percentages low, and even lower with tobacco flavorings) I'm just about to pull the trigger on a large Pure Vapes order. Thanks for this thread guys!

There always seems to be a few flavors I have overlooked not having on hand, like lemon, lime (I have Key Lime from FW that is great),and mint.
I was reading in this thread about the 3ml deal and figured I'd give FA one last chance at wowing me. Not a big order, just 6 flavors and Vape Wizard.
For $1.49 one could get 8ml of TFA flavors at Wizard Labs. Oh well, I can't always be cheap with my flavors.

Remember with FA tobaccos it's not a matter of weaker to stronger flavor. Each one has at least one "break point" where the flavor completely changes.

Dark Vapure at fractions of a percent tastes one way. At a percent or two it tastes like something completely different. At higher percentage it taste like bakers coco powder to me without any semblance of tobacco. Just an example as they all do something different when they "break". So you can have a range of possible tastes with one flavoring.

I've never played with them, never needed the effects they claim to provide.
Big order, huh - tell us what ya get!

I ordered ALL tobacco flavors and:

Butterscotch
Caramel
Cream (Fresh)
Custard
Dark Bean (Espresso)
Vanilla (Classic)
Vienna Cream

I've been mostly a tobacco flavor kind of guy, but I'm curious to try some of the "creamier" type flavors, hence the flavors above. I'm also thinking that most of those will be good additions to some of the tobacco flavors.

Anything I missed that would be essential to my tastes??

I have to say, that sounds awesome! Can't wait to start playing mad scientist again (I've been pretty much vaping one flavor for going on 2 years now).

One question though - anyone use the "Flavor Enhancers" (Magic Mask & Vape Wizard)? Are they worth it?

To each his own choices and mixing, of course...however ---

--both of these "flavors" are designed to temporarily alter the natural action of our taste-receptors/taste buds. Vape Wizard (I think) has the addition of something for TH & plumage (and maybe some flavor of its own). We're just not interested in mainlining chemicals via our lungs into our bloodstream, that alter the natural action of our bodies...temporarily or otherwise.

Besides, then we'd be working a completely new & different variable. It tastes one way without 'em, but after adding them it changes (but not because it changed, but because our taste buddies changed)? We've got WAY to many variable to deal with already.

And by-gawd, if we can't make a juice that tastes great without altering our buddies, then wethinks we'd better find another thing to DIY (lol).

My first recipe attempt is for a Banana Cookie... the banana smells strong before mixing, but hides its taste after! I'm test-vaping unsteeped 8% Cookie and 4% Banana at the moment (which is nice enough as it is, second fill already!). Even though I do want a fairly subtle banana, it is way too subtle!

Is steeping likely to change things much, or should I just stick some more banana in there?

We can't speak for others, but for us...8% Cookie =:shock:

2% is about our max for Cookie...a bit more perhaps if we're wanting something like a barely-sweet biscotti/scone - but typically 1.5% or less gets us all the Cookie we want.

So wethinks you've likely used too much Cookie for the Banana to be able to get out! :)

Oops-forgot...steep time is essential for Cookie. It will change quite drastically as it steeps (if we're remembering correctly, it gets stronger as it steeps).

Ohhhh, I'll present the alternate view just to be ornery. I'm a non-steeper. I get an idea or want a certain flavor, and it's mixed and I'm vaping within about 5 minutes. Fresh versus aged FA Cookie mixes (biscotti flavors) are popular at my place. When I mix for myself, I vape it right away. My partner's bottles sit for weeks before they're empty. There is no flavor difference whatsoever between them.

When I mix, I cap the bottle and set it in hot tap water a few minutes - long enough to make my max-VG juice very thin/runny. Then I shake it well by hand and vape fresh. Now, if that qualifies as steeping, I steep. But I've always considered myself a rebel non-steeper.

I do use about the same percentage as you2, though - about 1.5% max in my recipes, often lower. I couldn't vape it at 8%.
