I've wondered about that, too. I did crack an EVOD with a peppermint+spearmint mix - it was about 6% total flavoring. I suspect spearmint is the culprit, because I vape recipes with FA peppermint in plastic without trouble. I have a plastic tank dedicated to Limoncello Torrone Parfait, and after at least a month, it's just fine. I know Coconut, Banana, and the nut flavors are fine in my plastic tanks. I would never put Anise in plastic, though.

I like the warmer vapor that my favorite plastic tanks give. If not for that, I'd just stick with glass.

Have you had plastic tank mishaps with FA flavors?

So far I've only used RDAs and a Fogger, but I have a Kayfun clone on order, so that's why I was asking! I gave some Cuba Libra to a friend who vapes in a plastic tank the other day, and I suddenly wondered if I should be worried!

I'd be a little worried about that one because of the Cola. I don't think I've had that one in plastic, but I have had lime in plastic without problems. Let us know if she had trouble?

I've used peppermint and spearmint in my Kayfun, it's fine, cleans out like any other juice. I have not tried a strong cinnamon, like a red hot or anything in it. I just can not vape those.

Thanks you guys! I'm stepping down from 18mg to 15ish. If it goes down to 12mg, it's fine, I'm sure I wouldn't even notice! I'll mix my base then, and put the nic back in the freezer. No kids in the house, but do have a nosy hubby, 83 yr old mom, and 2 cats. Feel safer with it put away, and staying fresh.

I generally make up 250ml at a time (I do a lot of mixing) of 7mg, and another 60ml of 12mg (for friends). I keep my working bottle of undiluted nic in the fridge, and the rest in the freezer.

I've never tried Mother's Milk, and I have no idea how this person's clone of it tastes, but I have a few suggestions about translating their ingredients into FA.

I'd look at the 7% Capella's Vanilla Custard, 2% TFA Vanilla Swirl, and 0.2% TFA Orange Cream all together. Aim under 4% FA flavoring to replace this trio. (FA creams can warp into unpleasantness if you over 4%) To get a hint of orange flavor, I'd use 0.2% FA Mandarin. If the orange is more of an effect than a flavor, then I'd use 0.1% FA Orange. The creams used have no fluff at all, so I would avoid FA Fresh Cream. My first attempt would use 2.5% Vienna Cream and 0.5% Vanilla Classic.

FA doesn't have dragonfruit flavor, so I'd keep that ingredient as it is.

FA's Strawberry is a fresh berry flavor, while Capella's is candy-like to me. I think this will change the resulting flavor a lot, but you'll have to see what you think. I'd start with 2% FA Strawberry.

I'd totally leave out the sucralose, which adds an aftertaste and fades with time. If you need extra sweetener with the recipe, I'd start with the same measurement of FA Meringue to do the job better.

So my first-whack recipe would be:
2% FA Strawberry
2.5% FA Vienna Cream
0.5% FA Vanilla Classic
0.5% TFA Dragonfruit
0.2% FA Pear
0.1% FA Orange or 0.2% FA Mandarin
possibly a little FA Meringue to sweeten, but only after trying it first

That's just under 6% total flavoring, looks like a reasonable first crack. This would definitely taste different than the recipe you linked to - no custard note ingredients and FA's life-like strawberry - but you never know when such changes will actually be an improvement over the original. I hope you'll post back with your progress!

Really helpful thanks. I will update once I have tried this and some other variations out!

I know I have read this somewhere on these threads....Can't I take my 100mg nic and make a 60ml bottle of base to use for samples? Just seems to make more sense than playing with the nic everytime I want to make a little juice. I have a healthy respect for the nic

I'm like the laziest DIY'er ever. I just buy 12mg 50/50 unflavoured nic juice and use the drop method. No measuring of pg/vg or nic. I'm happy with anything between 10mg-12mg so the flavour dilution isn't an issue.

Also, I'm loving whoever said this; "with 6 ml nic base, 1-drop equals .5% and with a 3ml nic base 1-drop equals 1%" I think it may have been HIC?

Any recipes that call for .5% flavour I make a 6ml batch. And any recipes that call for flavours at 1%, 2%, 3% etc... I can just make a 3ml batch!

I must be one of the odd balls? I make samples any where from 3ml to 8ml with zero nic. Once I know flavor is right I Mix in larger sizes with nic

vaping one day at a time

I wouldn't say oddballs :)

I blend with nicotine as the taste of the flavors without it is substantially different and often, to me, off putting. Mixing 3-5ml samples using 100mg/ml doesn't force me to waste much should the mix not turn out the way I like it. From there, if it works, then I gradually move up to 10-30ml and then to 60-120ml if it's something I'll vape all day for days on end.

I don't have Vanilla Tahiti, but I wonder would it work instead? I'm stuck on this one. The one I made isn't bad at all, vaped it at work today, but it's not a Nilla Wafer. :glare:

Me again. I'm on a vanilla kick atm.

A work in process:

Nilla Wafer

3% Vanilla Classic
1% Meringue (this flavor is new to me, could be too much)
1% TFA Brown Sugar
2% Cookie (I'm not tired of cookie!)

Like this, it's pretty good! Another batch added .5 honey. Not bad, just not "it". Another batch added .5 Butterscotch. Haven't tried that one yet, but have to go to work... :(

Sorry to change the subject. And Claire, you're not an oddball. It's smart, really. Especially when you're like me..... new at this, making lots o'goofs.

Looks good - but meringue is pretty sweet. You might want to half the meringue and brown sugar - perhaps? I adore cookie too!

I was thinking about cutting the brown sugar. I wonder if it made it too baked? They're such a light "cookie". Wafer. Lol, I had no idea how sweet that meringue is! It really mellowed out in the oreo one, though, so yeah. 1% is probably way too high.

Thanks Amanda!

I absolutely love Vanilla Tahity, it's a sweeter Vanilla Classic. To me Vanilla Classic tastes a little dry, Vanilla Tahity is wetter, more candy like. Together they make a great vanilla vape.

Tried some HIC's Lemon Custard, but without Raspberry, good but getting more custard than lemon.
Got some Raspberry yesterday, along with another bunch of FA flavored vape mail.
Up to 135 various flavors now.
Also tried the Jamaican Rum at 3% alone, but think it needs to be stronger, for me.
Got some Torrone and Marzipan to play with now, lol.
Sidetracked now, stopped by Sally's to get some CelluCotton Rayon, re-wicking everything.
Love it so far.

Flavor of the week - FA Oak Wood!

Wow, this stuff is great! I was expecting a charred flavor, or bbq, or tobacco tasting, so of course I got just a little bottle. I was thinking 'bbq' when I opened it for a sniff, and it reminded me vaguely of the hickory bit in some bbq sauces. It's also a dark liquid, so I tried it reluctantly.

The combination of Oak Wood with Whiskey or Brandy or Rum is fabulous! It has a flavor that enhances them very well, turns them into more complex, tasty flavors. It does not overwhelm other flavors and is not so distinctive that it dominates a mix. I'm usually using about half as much Oak Wood as the Whiskey/Brandy/Rum, but I like equal parts in some recipes.

I thought oak-barrel-whiskey would go well with a coconut-almond-vanilla macaroon. I'm vaping that one now after an overnight rest. It's excellent! The whiskey is less wild with oak wood added, and it gets smoother overnight, so I'd say it's a 'steeper'. I added a bit of Brandy to it, just because I like the flavor, and the combo of whiskey-brandy-oak is great. I also made oak-barrel brandy with caramel-apple-pie that's tasting good. .. Looking around, I discovered very similar flavor profiles already exist in a couple well-known commercial versions. I see why those pricey liquids are so popular, if they taste anything like the bottles I made.

On the tobacco front, virginia, burley, oakwood, and a bit of Marzipan is tasting good to me. I'm a total novice with tobaccos, but I'd call this toasted-almond tobacco. I do not like Virginia or Burley standalone, almost liked them blended, but this is more my style. I'm using a lot of Oak Wood and Marzipan, just a touch of the tobaccos. I'm pleased to find that, even at 2%, the dark Oak Wood flavoring does not gum up my coils.

So - FA Oak Wood - definitely worth the $1.50 it took to get a sample bottle!
