When I get a new flavor in I usually sniff it and then put a dab on my finger to taste. Interestingly enough I found I can't do that with TFA flavors - all I get from them is a strong burn feel with no flavor!

I used to do that... Then I met TFA's Grape juice..... OW! OW! OW!

That would be interesting.... I'm thinking of dipping some toothpicks in some of my FA to keep in a lil baggie in my purse.... I may be a flavor addict.....

LOL! I loved hot cinnamon toothpicks when I was a kid. I soaked mine until the toothpick was translucent (took weeks!), then chewed them into little piles of sawdust. Yeah, I'm a flavor addict, too.

Right now I'm SO addicted to this FA coconut... I doubt there would be sawdust left lol! A little fiber never hurt I guess... LOL! I need to get some cinnamon... Not usually my thing, but neither is mint and I'm feeling adventurous.... Oh.... Espresso coconut toothpicks.... HMMM...

My standalone percent for Citrus Mix is 3%. I liked 3% on Forest Fruit, but 2.5% was a little better to me. I use 2% Forest Fruit with 1% Fresh Cream - or with .5 Fresh Cream and .5 Meringue - to get a milder dark berries flavor.

Did you try the Walnut trick with Banana? Add .25 or .5% Walnut to it, and it makes the Banana taste stronger. At least it does for me.

My taste buds are still fried. The walnut brought out more banana but soon lost the taste. Just need some time to revisit banana.

Coconut toothpicks would give that realistic coconut husk flavor. lol!

How are you using FA Coconut? vaping it plain (what %), in a recipe... nipping at the bottle? I have to be in just the right mood to enjoy vaping coconut, but I could eat shredded sweet coconut any time.

Yep, FA Coconut... Vaping it however I can get it lol! Honestly I have no clue what %... I've been mixing up lil 2mls each day just playing with the FA flavors... today it's Coconut and Strawberry... I just threw in a couple drops of each. I should keep notes on all of these lil batches..... but I've not been in a serious mixing mood. Just seeing what will go with what... But I MUST get a bigger 10-30ml of coconut. I never thought I'd really like that in a vape.

Here is a Tobacco recipe that has become a favorite of mine. I tend to like the dark stuff more than most so YMMV.

Black Maxx
Maxx Blend 2%
Walnut 1%
Perique Black 0.5%
Black Fire 0.5%

As you can imagine this is really dark and smokey, but with VT nic it's mildly sweet. The Walnut, for me, isn't really discernible but brings out a nice woody tobacco flavor. I do a four hour heat steep then give it a week or two to mellow.

FA Walnut I think is way more useful than I'd imagined. I use a little to sweeten other things, and it makes FA Apple and Banana taste stronger. It makes the crust in pie flavors more savory, too. Of all the nut flavors, I'd be most likely to use Walnut in a tobacco mix. I wonder what other undiscovered uses there are for Walnut.

Perique and Black Fire are super-strong, black tobacco flavors, right?

Oh fine - I'll try CamT at the end of today when my taste buds are shot. I'm going to try 1% though. If it tastes like it smells, I'm not going to like it plain, but I'm thinking a little Clove in there might taste like clove cigs I liked decades ago. It smells really spicy to me, but yeah, power of suggestion and I'll say citrus too.

Yes, Black Fire at 1% is nice smokey flavor, with VT nic it's really good stand alone. Perique, I haven't had any desire to go above 1.5 :)

Since Hermit publicly chastised me (LOL, I kid..)

More chastising myself for not experimenting enough

I like Latakia as a main flavor. I was unsure when I smelled the bottle. It smells like pretty strong tobacco to me, definite dark tobacco scent. I mixed it 2% standalone. Finally, one with no vanilla, no anise, no maple, no cocoa, no honey, no caramel. I'm glad to find a tobacco flavoring without those. I find Latakia solid and neutral - not as dark as I expected, not too smokey, not ashy, not too bright, not too sweet or bitter, definite tobacco - but not especially rich tobacco, strong enough to take on other flavors, agreeable enough to not overwhelm them. Slow exhale gives more tobacco flavor, and quicker puffs give the slightest, fleeting sweetness on exhale that's instantly gone and fun to pursue. I prefer standalone Latakia to standalone MaxxBlend; it's less dry-cigarette tasting to me, much more complex.

You absolutely have my attention now! I'd really like to find a good set of tobacco 'base' flavours. If I then decided to add any of those 'classic' ingredients, at least I could choose how much to add. But out of all the flavours available, I'm really not convinced that those are the best to use anyway, apart from vanilla perhaps. Walnut, cookie, coconut, pepper, even a sharp fruit like (Inawera) Pear or Fuji... all of those work for me as a smoke replacement, even though they're not really anything like it!

 CamT, also called Cam Blend

FA's description: From the "Ultimate" project. A luxury blend of spicy, woody and sweet notes. Try at 2%

I mixed a small tank at 2%. At first vape, I identified the flavor. Doesn't this sound similar to you:
"earthy, balsamic .. woody scent." from Aura Cacia's description of their Sandalwood essential oil, and
"sweet, warm, rich and woody " from Eden Botanical's.

Yep, CamT = Sandalwood flavor, and the vapor trail smells like a 10-year-old girl using perfume for the first time. How is this even called a tobacco flavor? Seriously, it should be named Sandalwood (because it's exactly that) and listed under Florals. It would find fans if marketed like that.

I added FA Clove to see if it would make a clove cigarette. Um, now I have something a grandma hides in her sock drawer to keep mice away.

I'm going back to watermelon now! cough....cough...

I forgive you, HIC. After taking one for the team, you deserve a break :D

I'd have to agree with you on cam blend - I still have a vial that I mixed weeks ago; never dared vape any. I think you've nailed it's make-up. When I smelled it I thought: Imperial Leather soap!

Anyway, in other news, I am still obsessed with making a perfect Banana Cookie....

5% Banana
1.5% Cookie
and a homeopathic amount of Marzipan!!

I have no idea how to replicate this! A toothpick swirl maybe. The target _might_ be something like 1/10 of a drop in 10ml

Trying to replicate it now... started by making a Marzipan dilution at 5% in PG, put 1 drop into 1ml in a tank - about 0.2%. Since then, I've diluted the tank (with plain BC) by a fifth, twice - so now at about 0.008%. Almost there, I think. Dare I guess at 0.001% to 0.002% being the sweet spot?! I make that 1 drop (of undiluted Marzipan) for 2 to 4 litres of Banana Cookie

That's the way I feel about Fa Oba Oba Tobacco ... should be in the FRUIT category

Is that on purevapes or ecx? FA have it in the Passion category, FA UK have it in Sweet. Although, FA put almost everything in Passion, including: RY4, Ozone, Royal, Oryental 4 and Hypnotic Mist. Where should HM go?! I'm not sure that any two vendors categorise that the same

So E-liquid Mart tells you which flavors are safe to vape? No one else does? How do we know on other sites which flavors are safe to use? Sorry for all the silly questions, but I'm new to all of this and just reading hours after hours to decide if the DIY scene is for me. Thanks for the expert answers!

Shop anywhere you want, but before you put a flavoring in your cart, check the FA's main website to be sure there's no inhalation warning. Here's an example on that website of one that does: Magie in Cucina :: Aromi dolci :: Aroma Latte condensato - Dettaglio del prodotto - FlavourArt - La sartoria degli aromi Look under 'Description' and you'll see the warning.

If you stick to the "electronic cigarette" part of their website, you won't even see the flavorings with diacetyl. All of FA's flavorings ('safe' or not) are included in the "kitchen magic" area.
