I've had the Puresmoker passthrough for a couple of days now and have some comments...

It certainly does deliver higher voltage to the atomizers and produces quite a bit of vapor, no question about it. I worry that it might be too much voltage for my 510, though it might be just fine for the 801. Interestingly, while I never hear the atomizer 'sizzle' when I use 801 atomizers with a regular sort of passthrough or while on battery, I do hear the 'sizzle' with the Puresmoker passthrough and the vapor is definitely enhanced.

There have been problems:

1. The pushbutton. Sometimes I have to press it three or four times to get ignition. I suspect that the switch is not making good contact, consistently. Can't say for sure what the reason would be, but it's definitely an annoyance. I hope it doesn't mean this switch is on the verge of not working at all. I saw a message here having to do with partial disassembly and cleaning of the switch contacts, but should this be a requirement with a brand-new unit? I sure hope not. I'm not crazy to disassemble electrical equipment...

2. The heaviness of the cable. Maybe a heavier cable is required given the voltage involved, but I would hope that you can redesign this thing to use a cable with less stiffness and weight. Surely there must be some happy medium between, say, the ridiculous flimsiness of the wiring Joye supplies with its own 510 passthrough, and on the other hand the difficult-to-work-with stiffness of the Puresmoker passthrough cable.

The cable is stiff and has a permanent curl, and it twists the unit (sometimes to a position that isn't convenient in terms of where the button ends up). The weight of it often pulls the passthrough right off the table-top when the cable droops down. So IMO the switch issue, and the type of cable used, need to be addressed sooner than later...

I have problems with my switch also. When I first got the Pass thru I was think that the adaptor was not tight enough. I messed around with it and found that if I press the switch on one side like hanging my finger off the side it works and if I press the other side of the switch it does not work at all. I just got used to it and deal with it. I think what happened it when they put that pin in there to keep it from rotating that it was not lined up exactly right. The first ones did not have that and the switch was able to rotate freely. I saw a video review of someone who had that issue with his and that is what made me think to press the switch in different positions.
We have to remember here that this thing is hand made and fully custom in every way. Each piece is custom and hand assembled so human error is to play here. I don't think it is enough to complain about but it is an issue. I am really glad to see that the Protege doesn't have the same switch.

As far as the huge cable.. I feel you.. It could be a little more flexible. Surely there is cable out there that will handle the voltage and still remain flexible. Again these are custom and in their infancy. I'm sure Steve is trying to put out a product that will last a life time. That is what it is all about. Paying for the quality stuff. And PURESMOKER means quality in my book. Products that are built by vapors for vapors.

My cable became a bit more flexible, too after about a month. Or I got used to it. I'm not sure 'cuz it doesn't really matter. I'm smokin this thing and I'm willing to put up with some stuff. Can't say I'd be too happy about a switch problem though. Anything that would interfere with my ability to get a hit would become a major issue with me.

mikea, that pushbutton thing you describe isn't right. Don't quit looking for the answer to that problem until you find a resolution. Sorry I can't be more helpful. If I had some experience to share I would.

I only use the DES801's sold from puresmoker. I've never had one burn out or burn up. They are very, very dripping friendly. I occasionally use a cartridge with them, not too often, though.

The 801's from PureSmoker have an issue of their own though. But a piece of Scotch tape prevents and fixes the problem. I've been yakking about that recently on this forum, so you can read about that issue. And once again, I'm still vaping with the 801 and PS PT. The quality of vaping out weighs the issues. Nothing is perfect, but we're all sure looking for perfection over here, and I think that PureSmoker is about to achieve that very thing.

i thought my switch was wierd also , if you make sure that it's centered ( because it rocks from side to side when the adapter is off ) when putting on the adapter it will hit perfect every time. Twist the cable slightly to center the button , then screw on the adapter. It should work perfect

A: Hey Mikea, the pushbutton on the PT is much like that of the Prodigy. To get power, the button must be fully depressed. So, make sure to FULLY depress button each and everytime you take a hit. I know this may sound elementary, but we get this question almost daily. Assuming the button isn't sticking or anything to that extent - Just Press firmly :)

2. The heaviness of the cable. Maybe a heavier cable is required given the voltage involved, but I would hope that you can redesign this thing to use a cable with less stiffness and weight. A: That's 20G cord for you. The beauty is, if you add 25' of extension, you will still get awesome power .... There are a couple issues going to a thinner cord.
1) Flimsieness of the Power/Ground cables themselves. The different between 20G and 24/26G wire is night and day. Anything over 3-4' long, and power drop is quite noticeable.
2) The Soldering strength when using thinner wire -- Smaller Solder Joints = More chance full pull out

See Red :)

The PT'S have become my main vaping tool.

I noticed that the adapter must not be screwed in too tight or the button may not work properly.

The cable is a tad dominating, but you soon get used to that.
If you use your PT with power packs like the kensigton, you may consider asking an electrician to shorten the cable.
It does become more flexible with time though.

The consistency of the PT is what i am totally impressed with. Each puff delivers perfectly.
I have fried a whole bunch of atty's but that may be the power pack.
I have not fried any 501 atty's only 801's ....this is strange because voltage is the same.

I often clean the adapter and make sure it is liquid free.
I clean the copper surfaces with a pencil eraser.

This unit is definitely low maintenance, and i have just recommended it to 2 friends that would have started out with 510 starter kits.

I wish i had started vaping with the prodigy , would have saved so much money on the lower voltage crap.

Other then finding a reliable power source, the PS USBpass is the best device I've ever vaped. Using my Kensington(Delivering 1.5Amp max) the throat hit is intense. A 2 second hit produces a mushroom cloud of vapor. I'm also finding that , although the unit definitely uses more liquid then my old Joye 510, the amount of nicotine it puts out per vape more then makes up for that. I'm ending up using less liquid overall due to needing to use less vapes per unit time. I use 18mg RY4 and when I got the PT I was vaping it just like I vaped my Joye 510, bad idea. I noticed my heart was beating out of my chest and was starting to sweat. I had to learn to slow down and take it easy. I could see myself lowering my nic liquid level down to 11mg possibly. Once I find a reliable power source(other then the Kensington) for both home and car use, it will be perfect. I have a 2amp AC to USB adapter on the way as well as a "constant current" 850mA car USB adapter that I'm hoping will solve the power source issue.

I massage my PS passthrough cable with rubber conditioner for at least two hours every night. The result of my labor? A cable that's now as soft and supple as a baby's behind.

aww i got excited after reading this stuff and went to go order one. OUT OF STOCK =(

I've been using the crappy PT with the battery in-line. I've had it for almost 2 weeks. Today i had been vaping with it for awhile and it started dieing down alot. So i stuck a battery and the vapor was back to normal. Solution? get a passthrough that doesn't rely on an in-line battery =P

I hope i can order the PS PT soon

Markarich, thanks for the info! I just ordered 10 of the usb duals! I am going to use them as stocking stuffers for all the adults! lol (keeping the rest for myself!, lol)

Please let me know how the auto plug works for you. I'll just follow around behind you ordering stuff, lol!

Vapnaway, thanks for the BB info, I'll checkout their website, I hate going to their store, here locally. But probably will end up going by there. :)

Thanks again, both of you for the info!
