Well, to start - Hello! New to this forum and looking for some help.

I did read through some of the beginner posts but I'm having a tough time filtering through the lingo :/

Right before my daughter was born (4 months ago) I "quit" smoking cigs (pack a day - Parliament lights and/or Marlboro 27s) and went the e-cig way. After trying the Blu disposable I liked the draw, the thickness of the vapor, etc. So, I purchased the kit.

As most users seem to have a shared experience, good at first then quite a let down. Initially it worked but slowly there were issues. The batteries stopped holding a good charge (my ONE good battery left lasts for 3 minutes of draws before needing a charge) and eventually started acting reversly - draw but doesn't burn, once you stop drawing the battery begins to ignite, then it doesn't stop until you take a sharp draw on it again.

I want to dive into the better things of vaping but don't know where to start. There are so many different routes and me being the only working parent for my wife and child, I can't be throwing money down the drain on experimentation.

I guess what I'm asking for is HELP.

I would like to get a starter kit that at least slightly resembles an actual cig in size, but battery life is a must. I suppose I can charge a secondary battery while at work or at home so something that lasts around 2 hours?

Also looking for something that has some "bite" to it. I find that the toughest time to not want an actual cig is the every-so-often time I have a few drinks. From what I've gathered this can merely be a differentiation of liquid used to satisfy both regular use and "strong" use.

Please don't take me the wrong way in not wanting to experiment. I understand that it may take a few attempts at trial and error but with help, 2 $50 starter kits is preferable over 5+ $50 starter kits.

I'm using my Blu right now and all I want is a Marlboro 27 :glare:

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions/advice.

You sound like a good candidate for either a KGO or an Ego Twist. Buy a kit, which should include two batteries, a charger, and probably cartomizers or clearomizers. Don't buy a regular Ego because the voltage is too low and you probably won't get that "bite" you're looking for.

For juice, I'd buy at least 18mg and that may be too low. Better yet, buy two of each flavor: one zero nicotine and the other 36mg. Then work on finding what your best nic level is. Don't be afraid to try non-tobacco flavors. Many people love coffee and fruit flavors.

Thanks for the advise, xanderxman and VapingRulz.

The KGO looks to be up my alley - I have a neighbor who is into vaping and it looks similar to his style. The larger battery and reviews seem to boast longevity of use so that's a huge plus. I think he is using a drip tip but not sure - I'm sure once I get a kit I'll be looking at modifying but fingers crossed on getting it right the first time :p

The price isn't too high so I think I'll purchase the kit today, with 2 spare atomizers, 36 mg reg tobacco, 0mg reg tobacco, 24 mg coffee and 2-10mL bottle w/ applicators.

Thanks again for the information provided, I'll post in here after I get the kit and see how it goes.

Here's a review of the Kgo- gives you an idea of the size. A GREAT PV. Best to get the V1 as the V2 pulses continually and the batts drain quicker.

Here's the quicker draining Kgo V2:
KGO kit1100mAh by SLB

Here's the original slower draining Kgo V1:

Reason the V2 drains quicker is the battery doesn't pulsate like the V1-
V1- more batt life but slower drain/ extended battery life
V2- less batt life but better vape
100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge needed.

Yeah, that was a tough one for me as well. My menthol tasted really bad with bourbon, and it ruined the taste of the bourbon

So I got a Kentucky Bourbon flavor that I now vape with my bourbon. That works for me, But I couldn't really think of a compimentary flavor to go with bourbon. Depending on what you drink there may be complimentary flavors. You aren't stuck with tobacco flavors only, now you can experiment with all sorts of different flavors.

OT but it is what it is: I could totally see vaping honey with bourbon. And though I've not had it, I can only imagine Bobas Bounty would work well too.

Congratulations on your daughter, and on the switch to vaping!

KGO is a very good choice, throw in a vivi nova or a kanger and that baby will last you a long time. As for a cig-a-like, i used to use the 510T starter kit and it seems to fit your requirement (each battery lasts 2 hours, but you have a portable charging case not much bigger than a cig pack that charges for you on the go) but the vaping experience is sub par compared to bigger set ups. Im waiting on another viable option, the Vision Nano, and will update the performance.

I vape Longbottom Leaf from ePipemods with my Scotch, it goes pretty nicely.

Thanks for the additional advice, all. The video was great as was the link to beginner help.

Package should be in my mailbox tomorrow, pretty excited to open it up.

You all are pretty fancy with your bourbon and scotch! I'm just a beer drinker (had what seemed to be an allergic reaction last time I had a shot of whisky and shot of vodka) so I'm not too worried about pairing a flavor. Well, maybe if they made a pizza or hot wing flavor? That might appease both the nicotine and junk food fixes

I actually work in the tobacco industry and receive magazines like B2B Wholesaler and Price Kutter, seem to be a lot of interesting companies producing vape juice. I'm sure I will get tired of just tobacco or coffee so we'll see what flavor I pursue down the road.

Well, big surprise today as I checked the mail - my KGO arrived. I've been doing some research and still am sort of at a loss. For those that use the standard 510 atomizers and cartridges - the two spare atomizers I purchased came with cartridges attached but they are empty shells? Do I need to by a wick or cotton to fill these empty carts with? I've watched some videos now about refilling the cartridges with juice (just like a zippo) and even dripping 3 drops into the atomizer itself if you choose not to use the cotton in the cartridge. I see that there are a lot of options like tanks and such. I think I want to keep it simple and just refill the carts as I go. How often are you refilling your cartridge? I'm looking into the CE4 clear cartomizer as well, will be able to see the amount of juice remaining.

Well great news is that I love the KGO. Bad news is that one of the batteries was a dud. I charged both per manufacturer recommendations and the dud battery would flash 5 times when the button was pressed but wouldn't actually charge the atomizer. Contacted Will @ Nwvapers.com (where I purchased the kit) and he answered within a few hours of my initial contact. He assured me they would take care of the issue but to attempt the "center pin procedure" before sending out a replacement battery. I gave it the ol' college try but to no avail. So, I e-mailed Will back last night stating so. As a means to cut shipping costs for them, I inquired if they could just include it with my next order (was already planning on getting a vivi nova and a few CE4 clearomizers to test out). I woke up this morning with an e-mail from Will stating to just put a certain phrase in the "notes" section of my order. So, I placed my order this afternoon and included the phrase.

After my order I received a notice from Will stating that while the order has missed the standard 10:00 AM cutoff time for the day, they were going to rush ship today due to the battery inconvenience.

In this day of a magnitude of online retailers where customer service is priority #1 and word-of-finger (typing) spreads faster than wildfire, I believe in giving credit where credit is due. Thought I would include my pat on the back/thumbs up to this online retailer - Nwvapers.com.

(I did get the OK from Will to post regarding their company first)

Have distributed over 500 Kgo bats and only 4 were duds....let's hope your next 200 batts are good ones ;)
