PWM coming to an end? -20 watt AC mod coming the Dani L

Checking out ol todd and a few others I ran into this bad boy -20 watts of AC powered VW -
Could this signal the beginning of the end for DC PWM mods? I see other mods coming with regards to AC as well.

Menu structure:
Pu => power-up increases the power setting of 0.5 W per keystroke
Pd => Power down reduces the power setting of 0.5 W
Co => Check ohms measures the resistance of the heating coil accurate to about 10%.
Cb => Check Battery measures the battery voltage under load.
Sb => Set battery defines the threshold voltage from the electronics begins abzuregeln maximum performance.
So => Switch off If this menu item is selected and held the button is pressed, the appliance switches off completely.
EF => Extended Functions menu,
F => error indicator.

Extended Functions Menu:
1 Lu => Luminosity = Brightness
2 St => Switch off Time = Break
3 Oc => On clicks = number of button-presses to turn on (if off)
4 Ac => Activation clicks = number of button-presses to activate the menu
5 Ct => Click Time = Time of the value display and pushbutton actuation speed
6 Ec => Error Control = enable / disable the error control F1-F3
7 Ho => Half Watt Steps on / off = turns half watt steps instead of 1W-steps for Pu / Pd on or off
8 SA => Select AC-check ohms = toggles the type of AC measurement of resistance
9 Sd => Set defaults = resets the device to factory settings.

In the testing I've seen done on the A/C mods there is a reactance problem with some wire, it turns it into an inductor instead of a heating element. This seemed to cause wild power fluctuations with the chip.

I didnt doubt that would come into play somehow, I am sure there will be a slight variation into how one must wrap a coil, as obviously wound coils glow just fine in a standard lightbulb, this may cause problems with something like micros being wrapped too close together though.

This is really interesting. Does anyone know of any advantages AC would have over DC? Efficiency or what?

well the information I got so far is the actual chips can be smaller so the mods will be too, and they are claiming a very high efficiency.

only time will tell if it becomes a viable option, looks like a really well built mod none the less.

Pretty sure this is the same chip (the 15 watt version) as the Orion v3 so you could look at reviews for that.

Apologies if they mentioned this in the 30 minute video I am not going to watch.

Maybe the next generation of mods will be three phase.
Then we'll have to decide if were going to do a delta build or a wye build for our coils.
