Kimax is the same as Pyrex, so they would be similar to what you have now, Big D, slightly smaller.

Seen that place before - prices seem good, but they have a $50.00 MOQ.

we need to get AZ in on this so we can find out where he got this micro sized fq,and I honestly dont even know what size it is..lol

So have any of you guys tried making one with the Kimex tubes yet?

I'm still enjoying the pre-made one you sent; putting it through its paces. Don't know if you read that I pulled it out after a tank and had some minmal juice inside - not enough to burn on the coil though. I'm keeping it at around 7.5 watts, so as not to get it too hot. Been experimenting with the new bottom sealing materials at the present time, but I will be trying my own build on the Klimax soon.

Your bottom seal was spot on, D. I think the problem I had with mine was leeching of vapor from up top. It's still cooking along by the way... kind of skeered to pull it apart. LOL

K3vin, what did you use for the bottom seal?

Beginning to think that some of the ones I've made, such as the one that cracked on you were less than watertight at the bottom.

So you actually had juice in the tube? Or just simply evidence that some made it's way to the coil?

Some had made its way in. I could see a light coating of juice/condensate on the top crimp, but none along the length of the tube or at the coil. The coil was not blackened, only a dark spot on the outside of the tube where juice had burned between mesh and glass. So only a very minimal amount of leeching.

My salvaged FQ tube is done. Too short by my standards, but I'm going to give it a try anyway. Sealed bottom with the JB water weld; top with FP mortar.

The JB water weld is a fail - it will not hold up to the temperature, at least not with this short tube I"ve got. I kind of figured this at the onset; took a couple of Bill Clinton puffs and it tasted horrible. Pulled wick out and dry burned and the weld sputtered out the end a bit and smelled like the taste.
