Hi guys, this is my first post on e-cig forum & while I've been a vaper for about 5 months already, I have no choice but to post this here. I think it'd be more appropriate in the APV Discussion forum but alas I have no choice but to post it here, so here goes...
Ok, I originally started with the Volcano Inferno. I really like Volcano's products; they are durable & well-built & if you don't abuse them they seem to last a long time. I also use Volcano's Inferno atomizer, the 2.0 ohms one. The Inferno got me from a pack a day of analogues down to half a pack a day.
So, then I was introduced to variable-voltage mods, and I decided to buy the Vamo V3. This is because a) I'm on a limited budget & it was the cheapest one I could find, & b) 4 volts is so much better than 3.7 volts... adjustable voltage made all the difference for me (this is what got me from half a pack a day of analogues to zero, and I quit analogues entirely in August 2012, shortly after the Vamo arrived).
However, I have this recurring problem over & over; the threads on my cartomizer get sort of stripped & they will no longer screw in to the 510 thread on the battery/device. This happens because I either drop the device with a carto screwed on & it gets knocked loose, or it's sitting upright on a table & gets knocked over & same thing occurs, etc... I have been trying to get out of the habit of leaving it sitting around, or even in my pocket, with the carto screwed on (but it's too late, the device/battery's threads are already screwed up). However, atomizers seem to have more robust threads, & they don't need to be replaced as often. So, I switched to atomizers... now what I'm noticing is, the atomizers do screw into the Volcano Inferno batteries with no problems whatsoever, but I still want that 4 volts. The atomizers do not, however, screw into the Vamo.
I was seriously considering buying a Volcano Lavatube, because Volcano's threads seem to put up with this problem way better than Vamo's do (go figure- you get what you pay for). However, I've recently been reading this thread and I am now concerned about buying a Lavatube. What I was wondering was, is anyone else familiar with this thread problem? Is there a brand of VV mod you could recommend that seems to have more durable 510 threads?
I was also considering getting an iTaste MVP or something, but those are kind of cheap (in terms of price; I've never owned one) also and I just thought I should ask other experienced users if there is another brand out there which is $75 or below (for the device, not the starter kit... I already have 18650's & whatnot) whose threads are equally durable to those on the Volcano Inferno, but which is also not buggy like the Lavatube supposedly is.
Any suggestions? Your help would be much appreciated.
