Hi all, I'm taking a flight next week on Air Canada from Toronto to Vancouver and I was wondering if anyone knew their policies on e-cigs during flights. Will they let me vape on the plane? Will I even be allowed to bring it on the plane in my pocket? I'm sort of scared they'll take one look at it as I walk through customs and confiscate it or something. If anything, do you guys think the smoke detectors in the bathrooms will detect the vapor? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

I remember either seeing or hearing from someone that the vapour will set off the smoke detectors in the bathrooms.

such a myth Ive smoked in rooms with smoke detectors at hotels, heck even my own house, analog smoke wont set them off, what makes you think vapour will?

but from what i heard vaping isnt allowed on air planes, my sis just rubbed that in my face the other day

story is here its for the us but i wouldnt chance anyhting happening espically if you raise your voice and get arrested

Thanks, now I'm going to have to test every smoke detector I can to see if I can set it off with my eGo. :D

I have never had a problem on any flight I have been on whatsoever.. when at your seat dont be a douche about it ,, just be discrete... and if you want to have a good go then go to the washroom, never have I set off the detectors... when im blowing big clouds i just push the button for the sink drain and it sucks my huge cloud right down!....

Went from Ottawa to Halifax couple of weeks ago, guy at security picket it up and looked at it, said e-cig? i confirmed, he said cool, couple guys around here are using them, Enjoy! i used it a couple of times on the aircraft, not quite stealthing, but not hiding it either...But, I just googled it and here is their offical take on it.

aircanada.com - Carry-On Baggage

Accepted Items
....

"Electronic cigarettes (or 'e-cigarettes'), provided they remain stowed and unused in your carry-on baggage."

Honestly...I wouldn't bring it. They'll confiscate it for sure if they see it...a few mods and it could be an explosive. I'd be surprised if they didn't try and thief it from you.

They won't confiscate it. It's clearly not an explosive device. Run it through the Xray and all they see is a battery and casing. Even if they are suspicious, they'll use the bomb sniffer machine.

If, after all that, they truly believe it to be a bomb, you'd be under arrest. They won't just take it and send you on your way. Many people fly with them and all with incident.

Vaping on the plane is a different story. You can get into a lot of trouble for doing anything on a plane these days, so just don't do it. However, from a technical standpoint, the smoke detectors will go off from particulates in the air. Droplets of PG included. If you double inhale/hold your breath and don't exhale anything visible, a smoke detector will not go off.

I flew from Saint John NB to Toront then to Vegas, all air Canada. You are allowed to bring them on your carry on, and they never said a thing to me about it. I even had four 3ml bottles of juice with hand written stickers with the differnt flavors I brought with me, they looked at them and asked why I had 4 bottles, I said they are all different flavors for my e-cig. They didn't say a word, and let me go. I didn't vape on the plane, but that's because I slept... I took red eye flights both ways.

I just came back from my honeymoon (I'm now a married man! :) ) and I flew Montreal -> Newark -> Houston -> Buenos Aires -> Rio de Janeiro -> Buenos Aires -> Washingston DC -> Montreal. I passed through 6 security checkpoints and 2 hand searches.

I had a Reo Grand, a Maxi and Mini Roughstack, 2 eGo batteries, 3 510 batteries, 5 18650 batteries, 5 extra atomizers, 10 3ml bottles, battery charger.

Not a single person ever questioned me at all :)

Out of this world! We started our honeymoon on a island off the coast of Brasil (Ilha Grande), then met up with a friend in Rio de Janeiro who lives 5 minutes away from Copacabana beach, and finished things off in Buenos Aires (gorgeous city!). Coming back to Montreal in this frigid weather and back to work is soooo brutal though!

Wondering what happened to you... Haha well kids and divorce to follow :) we will be here for you!

And people quit talking about vaping on a plane the smoke detectors are not like the one's in your home. Some airlines/places treat it as if you were smoking an analog, will ground the plane and you will be in big trouble. Just not worth it.
