I had started a thread on the New Member Forum but figured i'd ask here as well (especially for the e-juice).

Back when i first started e-cig a bit more then a year ago, i had purchased several small bottles of e-juice at Vaprium but couldn't bare vaping them because of a very harsh throat hit and perfume taste (i think those came from the e-juice). I tried steeping them and all but nothing worked. Some said it might be because of the alcohol in their juice. IIRC, what i had ordered was 50/50 with 18 of nicotine. Could someone recommend a better balance for the mixture? I'm thinking 70VG/30PG with 15 of nicotine, but im not sure of how big of a difference it makes compared to what i had previously ordered. Is there also some sort of "things" that has to be done with new juice? While i researched the harsh throat hit, some said i had to shake the bottle before putting it in the tank, others said to steep them, but how exactly do you steep?

Also, what e-juice supplier is usually recommended (that contains no alcohol) and isn't Jugheads? I think Jugheads was opened today but missed it because i works 14h30 to 23h00, so can't order from them. I'm also opened to recommendations on e-juices. An e-juice with no flavors would be nice, i think vaporium had one.

Also i decided to buy a new kit as my old batteries probably don't work well anymore after not being used even once in over a year and things changed a lot in the last year. Back then all i'd hear about was ego and provari. Im ordering from Canvape. I still have my case from Gotvapes. I just want to make sure everything is compatible as far as threads and ohms are concerned and see if i should add anything else. So far i have:

1 x Innokin iTaste Express Kit Chameleon, Black or White! VV/VW 3.0 eGo Thread - Flat Black
1 x Innokin iClear30s Dual Coil Tank Rotating Drip Tip Clear, Black or Blue! - Black
1 x Innokin iClear30s Replacement Coil 5 pack! - 2.2ohm Dual Coil 5 pack
1 x Needle Bottle 15ml

Every products you listed are compatible, it's all 510 threading. The iTaste even has an eGo threading in case you want to buy something with an eGo threading.

As for the harsh ejuice, it might be cause by your atomizer, you can always try a new one. with the same juice. Cut down the nicotine to 12mg or even 6mg, it will be a lot less harsh.

Can't really recommend you a balance of mixture, you have to try them until you find what you really like.

Maple Leaf Vapes is my second choice for eLiquids, in Canada.

Steeping/Ageing varies but what I do is, I leave the caps off for a day, then I shake a few times a day for about a week longer most should be ready to Vape at that point, u can also use other methods that can be found on ECF.

You don't mention if you smoke before or how many so hard to recommend a nic level, most start at 18-24. U might try 12.

Liquid normally don't contain alcohol unless it's a liquor or cocktail juice, best to ask before ordering. By leaving caps off for a day most of the alcohol will evaporate.

Canvape has all your needs. The Itaste MVP is a great mod if u like the shape. I love mine.

Harsh hits can be that your device is not wicking, with top coil devices make sure to tilt and twirl, also drink lots of water.

Thanks for the replies both. Right now i smoke around 35 cigarette of McDonald King size. Si while i was considering cutting to 12, maybe i should stick with 18..

Zurd, you live in Montreal. Have you been to the Vaporus store on St-Denis? I wonder if they'd let me try before i buy. That's the only "real life" store that i know of. Even though i live on the south shore of Montreal and absolutely hate driving to Montreal lol.

So should i go for a Bottom coil? I looked into them a bit and seems like they're having leaking problems and such. I though it might be best to wait a few months for the kinks to iron out but i don't want to wait that long before switching to e-cigs.

McDonald is a 15 mg at most, if you go higher you are going to get a nicotine rush and headache. I haven't tried the I clears yet, but I have only heard good things about them. I still use vivi no as and they have been easy to maintain from day one, so if you go experience problems I suggest you look into them.

I have to say as far as batteries go you got the most inexpensive best performing one you could get, when troubleshooting this should not be any part of the problem. I went from egos to the I taste and man has it changed my world. The thing is I thought I had it good before that. It's all trial and error, but for you the only problem should be your tank or your juice, both of those are easy to replace.

Yes, I think they will let you try it, they have a great service, check out lavapeshop.ca too, it's in Verdun it might be closer to you. Most clearos nowadays should not leak. Go there and ask your questions, they get the same questions hundreds of times a week!

different ohms, different vaping experience, I prefer low ohms like 1.5 and 1.8. You can't go wrong with 1.8, it's a very good start.

Yes lavapeshop prices are a bit higher but if you go there you don't pay for the shipping, you get the products right away and you can ask them questions, it's up to you if it's worth it or not :)

For getting the alcohol out...I take the lid off AND the nipple off. Put my finger on the top and shake. Repeat throughout the day.

After a day, I put the nipple and lid on and let the components of the juice steep in a dark place. For me that is a drawer :p

As I have been buying juice a little to quickly to use it quickly, my new "group" purchase tends to stay steeping for longer. For the most part, longer seems better and I don't think it hurts. Because the "groups" stay together, I am using 3 drawers now.

yah it still applies, just plain water is enough IMHO but you can always use a bit of soap, no need to let it dry completely for a tank, just blow on it and it's good to go. Of course don't wash the coil heads :)

Ah so you DON'T need to wash the coil heads? I think i washed mine in boiling water back a year ago. Could that be why i had a burn taste at every hit?

Thanks for the tip, i'll definitely try it out when i get my juices. Do darker liquids usually require longer steeping time? I think i've heard that before.

Well, truth is some people do boil it to remove impurities, just in case. I'm not one of them though, I'm lazy and I when I was boiling them, I never found a difference in taste. But be concern about the rubber/plastic thing in the coil head, if there's one, it really shouldn't be boiled else it will melt eheh

I have to say, im a bit disappointed. I placed 3 orders on Canvape, Maple Leaf Vape and East Cost Vape, hoping that i''d have everything on hands to try the e-cig this week-end, but Canvape is the only one i received so far (on Wednesday). Still didn't even get a shipping notification from the other 2. Are juice suppliers always that slow or did i get a bad luck?

Also, the buttons on the iTaste are very loose. They make a pretty audible sound when i shake it. Is it normal?

Much to my surprise i actually received my order from East Coast Vape today, despite never e-mailing me that they shipped my items.

Trying it today at first was the same bad experience as before. But i think i'm getting the hand of it, slowly. I noticed how i smoked cigarettes, i completely close my mouth on the cig and inhale in my mouth, and then inhale in the throat but actually never let it reach the lungs (barely any smoke comes out if i do it). Tried doing exactly that and i think that might be my problem. After a bit of research, seems like people who inhale e-cigs in their throat never completely close their mouth on the e-cig and actually inhale some air at the same time, if i understand it right.

If i completely close my mouth and take a slow draw, even just a small one and then inhale in the throat, the TH is at least 5 times stronger then what i get cigarettes (whether it's McDonalds or Dumaurier) and it's unbearable. But getting some air in along with the vape helps reducing the Throat Hit. Still haven't gotten the technique down though so sometimes i get a too strong TH and others barely any vapor..

How long did you guys get used to vaping?

I started using 24 nic, now at 18 where I intend to stay. Never had any problem of to much TH, I draw softly for about 2 seconds sometimes 3 lips fully enclosed on drip tip then a extra second of draw with finger off of the fire button hold in mouth for about 1/2 or less of a sec then slowly draw into lungs then exhale, works beauty for me never had an issue.

I'll ask what level of nic u use, and what coil resistance, and voltage/wattage u Vape at?

I generally use coils from factory at 1.8-2.4 ohms on my iclears or protanks at about 3.7-4.1 volts or 7.0-8.0 watts. If I'm using micro coils and cotton on a dripper or my KFL I generally use about the same settings, if I get any burnt hits I simply turn down the voltage or wattage.

Hope that helps a bit.

I have the iTaste VV set at 10 or 11 watts, though i tried a few different wattage. I've done some search and apparently the volts are supposed to adjust themselves automatically. The coil resistance are 2.0 ohm on the Protank 3 V2. As for juice, i dropped Nic level to 12 with a 60VG/40PG ratio.

I have to be doing something wrong. I smoke almost 2 pack a day of McDonalds but don't have any problem handling harsher throat hit of Export A or Du Maurier, and almost smoke as much with those. The only cigs that ever gave me trouble were the cuban cigarrettes. I dont get why i wouldnt be able to handle e-cig.

10 Watts is probably too high for your juice. VG is thicker than PG, so the more VG in a juice, the thicker it is and the slower it flows through the wicks to the heating coil. Also, when the watts are too high, the heating coil will heat up faster and hotter, using up the juice in the wicks faster, and if the juice doesn't flow fast enough, it dries out and burns. Try lowering your watts to around 7 for the 60VG/40PG juice you are using.

With a variable wattage device, like the iTaste VV, the device will detect what resistance your atomizer is and adjust the voltage sent to the atomizer to achieve the desired Wattage that you set it to. It is a bit confusing, but all you really need to know is more watts = more heat and too many watts = burnt taste.

So, you may be overdriving the atomizer and getting burnt wick taste as well, which may contribute to the harsh throat hit. Try the 7 watts and let us know if that is any better.

Good luck with it!

Greetings NOks, welcome to the forum. I've never tried anything from Vaporium, but I have tried Vaporous (on St Denis). I didn't find a flavour that I was super keen on there, but I only tried a few, and some of their e-liquids (produced in house) seem to be popular.

Dash Vapes in Toronto carries a small but decent selection of Mount Baker Vapor and Alien Vision e-liquids from the US.

What did you order from Canvape? Paradise Vapes Muskoka Blend remains one of my favourite flavours. It's a 50-50 mix, which is my favourite ratio (at least so far), and is pretty smooth to vape.
