Question about tanks and 510 connection

So I got a Phiniac tank when they were on sale, thinking I'd probably never use it beyond decoration since my previous experiences with cartomizers were pretty traumatic or at best meh. Having read lots here, watched Phil B's videos and so on, I also got a slap yo mama tool and ikenvape mega platinum punch cartos to go with it figuring at least I would give it a serious try. It turns out that it works..so well I am just all happy faced and ready to visit Ibtanked on payday as one tank certainly is not enough. I am using it on my Zmax V2 for My Main Flavor, keeping all the vivis and whatnot for the alternate flavors on my spinners and old kgos.
My question is, do I need to use a 510 to 510 sealed mini adapter with it or can I reasonably skip it? It fires either way of course, but I have some concerns about the odd drip that comes out of the carto. I don't like the way it looks as much with it, and it seems..just less balanced and so on, but I really don't feel like destroying my Zmax either. I guess I read a post advising someone new to tanks with a mod that they ought to use one and so I am unsure if that applies here. I had thought before that sealed adapters were meant for automatic batteries which I don't own. (I only bought the adapter by accident in my first month of vaping not realizing that it was not unsealed) Please help as I am so confused and need to get tanked! :p

It all depends upon if the connector pin on the Zmax is sealed off from the inner battery connector or not. I'm not that familiar with the Zmax, I don't own one. If it has a drip well, I'm pretty certain you will not need an adaptor to use any cartotank.

I have a Provari, Silver Bullet, and BB mods. Their connector pins are sealed off from the battery connectors. I would think the Zmax is also. I have seven IBTanks at this point in time, and I have not had any issues of them leaking. Actually, the majority of the time, when a tank has been blamed for leaking, it generally can be traced to the cartomizer leaking liquid and not the tank.

There you are at last Baditude. =) The Zmax center is sealed and the Phiniac tank I have definitely doesn't leak. Occasionally a tiny bit (a drop) comes out of the bottom of the cartomizer. I'm not using the 510 to 510 extension anymore, and if I decide I need to I have one ordered that has ego threading on the outside so I could at least put a tank skirt on it, cause it totally looks silly this way to me. I'm a very old lady who gets paranoid about all these crazy new-fangled mechanical and electronic things way too easily I think. :p Now I am off to choose my IBTanks, whee.

Just to ease your apprehensions, it is normal to find a drop or so of what looks like juice on the connector pin. It may actually be a little juice, but I tend to think it is more likely collected condensation from the vapor produced. This can be found in your drip tip, too. It is no biggie to find this. Just take a cotton swab moistened with some alcohol and clean it out, good as new. :)

Enjoy your IBTanked. They are a remarkable value. :thumb: I have a total of seven now.
