Hi all, been vaping since Dec.'13, started out as normal, buying all my flavors, then started DIY so don't really buy a lot, just a stray flavor here and there. Here's my question.
Im going back thru my "original" purchases, some from Steam Co. and others and here's what I am discovering.....flavors that contained any chocolate, or caramel or cheesecake or anything highly sweet tasting has "steeped" it's way to where they all now taste like a vanilla custard. Ex. I have an Old Orchard Reserve, normally you can taste the apple, the coconut and a symphony of other milder flavors. This bottle is from Jan.'14. Now it tastes like straight vanilla custard. This has happened on just about all of my flavors, the one variance being fruit only flavors....they are holding up fine, still tasting like they did originally.
Do certain flavors "keep on steeping", carmelizing the sugars involved??? Seems to me, after now making my own, that certain flavor profiles steep so far and then "settle" but others keep on "aging" until they taste bland, like a vanilla custard, losing all their previous flavor profiles. I did not know that at first, going out and buying multiple bottles of certain flavors, but now discovering they don't hold their flavor profile too long. (I know I initially read that bottles have a shelf life of @ 2 years. Maybe if not opened, but once they are opened, whew....!!!
Is anyone else familiar with this. Oh, and I keep them in a cool dark cabinet, so it isn't "heat" that has done them in. Any opinions would be appreciated.
