I use the ejuice me up calculator, and for setting the weight for flavors, there is only one selection. For a recipe with more than one flavor, is there a standard you use for grams per ml in your calculations?
I would hope that for flavors in pg, the weight would be fairly consistent, maybe not. The few I've checked, seemed to vary a bit.

I read on reddit that flavors range from .93 g/ml to 1.07 g/ml. So we use an assumption of 1g = 1ml.

That is close enough for most home mixers. HOWEVER, there is a margin of error on that, so the larger quantity you mix, the farther off you'll be.

IOW mixing 1 cup of juice is OK, but mixing 1 gallon and you'll be off enough to change the flavors.

Farther off in raw numbers, perhaps, but that's pretty meaningless. The percent or proportion by which you're off will remain constant, since the amount of error scales up linearly with the total batch size.

So if I Mixed Up a Gallon of e-Liquid it would be Off enough to changed the Flavor.

But if I mix 16 One Cup batches and then combine them into a Gallon Container it would be Fine?

True. It would make it easier to correct the flavorings on the next batch.

@zoiDman

IDK about that. It seems logical. But the most I've ever mixed in a batch was one cup. It worked out very nice.

Why mixing by weight if i may ask? I've seen only a handful of ppl doing it that way and they all had troubles in the process. Isn't the percentage a way better solution?
I'm not bashing just asking, maybe i have missed something while i was learning how to mix...

When you Mix by Weight there is Much Less to Wash when you are done. At least for me.

I just got tired of syringe and tip cleaning with every mixing session. Bought myself a scale, small funnels, a few beakers and some wire top glass bottles. I mix 100mls of my juices at a time and not have any cleanup. If you so worried about being out a few drops then how much flavoring is wasted in the needle every time you fill the syringe or replacing syringes that markings have worn off.
Scale mixing along with a DIY magnetic mixer makes juice making enjoyable.

Are you sure?
When i'm mixing by percentage i use 2 syringes, a cup with an pure alcohol and that's it. One syringe is for Nicotine, PG and VG, the other one is for flavors. After each flavor clean the syringe in alcohol and and go to next flavor and that's it. When i'm done i soak the syringes in the jar of alcohol for couple hours, usually over night, in the morning dry them out and put them back in secure storage. This method is not most precise, but it is consistent, and never had problems with it. Tried with weight and drops couple times, ended up pouring everything down the sink :D

I mix by weight as it is faster for me, and very little cleanup, plus no syringes to buy. A couple glass droppers and a funnel is all I need.

I treat all flavors as if they were PG so 1.03, the specific gravity sheets I have perused make it close enough. They are generally between 1.02 and 1.04. The only ones I have seen that are less are those flavors that are mixed in mostly alcohol. And I have generally not cared for those anyway. I have had no problem scaling up batches I liked from 10mls to 400mls in some cases. The only difference with batch size is that larger batches tend to take longer to steep in my experience.

I like to tell people that there is really No Right or Wrong way to do DIY. As long as you Like the Taste of what you Mix.

I use "Ladder Recipes". And Mix directly into the Bottle that is going to hold the Finished e-Liquid. That, and my e-Liquids are All the same basic PG:VG Ratio and mg/ml level. So I can use Unflavored "Pre-Mix".

So there Isn't really Anything to wash when I'm done. Except maybe a Funnel.

I use 1.03 grams/ml for flavors (PG based). I add Nic using a syringe. I use 1.26 for my VG and 1.01 for my PG. Gets me real close on volume. Just my :2c:

I mix by weight and have never had any trouble at all.
Where have you heard of people having trouble and what were the issues?

I've read on ECF of people that don't prefer to mix by weight but I wasn't aware of any trouble they encountered.

Not sure where you've seen these people. I have never even heard of someone who gave weight based an honest try and went back to syringes. With weight you are still using the "percentage way" you are just using weight rather than volume to achieve them.

But hey, mix any weigh that works for you !

Well, since different liquids have different weights, that means you have to calculate weight ratio of each specific liquid to get exact ratio. If you use scale, you have to be sure that the scale is really precise one, and then if you use flavor from multiple manufacturers you have to measure each and every one of them if you want to be on spot for larger quantities. When you calculate in % you don't need scale or conversions for each specific type of liquid. All you need is a good quality syringes or measures and you are good to go. Way less possibility to make mistake. At least that's the way i see it. I may be wrong too, but % has been working flawlessly for me so far :)

Your really mixing your terms here and I'm not sure that you completely get the concept. With both methods, you are still mixing by percentages, you are just using different methods to measure out those percentages. The weights of the fluids are known and consistent and most calculators have them built right in, you just tell it what you are using.

For my first year or two I mixed with syringes. I have not done that since the very first time I tried a scale. But, if you are comfortable with your method and it works for you then you certainly are not doing it wrong and it may well be the best way for you.
