Refilling carts one at a time/here and there seems to be a pain (at least for me). I usually wait until I have several that need refilled and then do them all at one time... assembly line fashion. I store the refilled carts with my new ones but keep them identified by putting a condom-cap on only one the mouth piece end (new ones have it on both ends, empties none). I have also found that I do not burn up my carts if I do not use the refilled ones with my PT... I seem to fry them bad otherwise.

I was having this problem for a while, especially with the tobacco flavors. The way I have figured out how to tell when the cart is low, is if it starts to lose its flavor, I try one more more time and blow the smoke out my nose (sounds weird, but works for me). No taste or burnt taste I put that cart in my refill pile.

Don't know if it will work for you, but you could give it a try.

I second this -- sometimes it's hard to tell when you're at the end of a 555-(or other tobacco flavored) carto, so a puff in and then exhale out through the nose is a good indicator for me. If I'm in any doubt, I just pull it and put in the pile for refilling later.

I've also been letting my JenJen-style rinse/refills sit for a little bit before using to let the juice soak all the way into the core. I'll have to try the plunger trick...sounds like that would help too.

I've done it every way. I've found the best to do it through the "suck" end with a 1ml hypodermic needle. You can guage the distance you need to place the needle into the cart by placing the needle againts the side of the cartomizer so you know how far to go down. Fill the needle with .5 to .8ml go in the suckhole at an angle until your half way down the cartomizer press the plunger and your done. Vape away. Takes less time than removing the cap. I've actually filled 1 cart 23 times without ever removing the top and it's still going strong.

Letting them sit after refilling seems to be the real key. Unless you're just topping off, refilling a dry cart will leave some areas of the fabric too dry, and others too wet. You can end up with either burnt filler or burnt liquid residue on the heating element. Give the liquid time to soak through and evenly distribute before vaping. Beyond that, cap end, battery end, drill a hole in the side, whatever. :D

Note: V4L does NOT either suggest nor endorse drilling a hole in the side of your cartomizers. ;)

Gawd, I wish I could remember who posted the easy method of rinsing and refilling... I would love to give them proper credit because it really isn't my method lol! I got it from one of the helpful peeps on this forum and found it was my "bingo" method that worked for me.

If you are out there - please remind me who posted about this method so I can thank you! ;)

It was Haplovos! Thanks dude! I didn't rinse 20 times though, just rinse 30 secs blow, another 30 secs and blow until nothing came out then dry the battery connection and refill...

I found the same problem. Just today I was about to give up on my last 5 cartomizers as they just were not taking any more than 10 drops anymore, were not producing much vapor, etc. Then I just thought what the heck I'm gonna try rinsing these out.

Took them to the sink, ran warm water through them. Blew them out, and repeated that process about 20 times a piece. Man they are pristine white inside now just using warm water!! Blowing them out well they were pretty much dry also - so one of them I just went straight back to the desk and filled it.

That thing took **28** drops of juice!!! and it still was not overflowing at all. just starting to show moisture on all sides. So I put the final drop on the opposite side. Gave it a good shake down, put the tops back on and screwed it down on a fresh battery.

About 5 puffs later - this thing is like a brand new cartomizer!

So I have refilled all of them and they all work pretty close to new or just as good. Me likey!

Hope that helps some,
- Hap

Ya think an insulin pin would be long enough? Or do I need a 1" probably?

The juice might be a bit thick for that thin of a needle? I open even my brand new cartos and make sure that the atty is centered before use, and recenter each time I refill. I guess I want to see that things are looking good inside too.

I think this is a good idea. I use the corkscrew on my Swiss Army knife to pry off the tops of the carts, and once you know what you're doing, you can pop off the cap, center the atty, and fill your cart in about two minutes fairly easily.

What is happening is generally I top off through the battery end to try and extend the cart life. Sooner or later I get that burnt taste. A couple of times I've gone ahead and pulled the guts out of the carto to see what I'm burning and it is always the filament burning through its wrapping and usually also burning the batting.

It looks like I've found some good new advice to try here:

& here:

In one of those threads the man who knows said:
you are puffing too hard, soft....long, and NO issues then, you will also get much better vapor, as welll
Steve
Treat the VK like a women(man)soft, and gentle, you will be rewarded

Looks like I'll be trying out some new draw technique and refilling strategy.

when you're changing your refilling strategy, consider filling by removing the mouthpiece and filling so you can see what you're doing instead of filling in battery end which is totally blind...not to mention when you drip the batting you're going to hit the atty and ensure you got some juice on there..dripping the battery end means juice goes through this long metal tube, then through some other junk, then out (near mouthpiece) does a "U" turn and hopes it finds the batting and maybe even eventually the atty...Too easy to vape a dry atty cause you cant see what you're doin is my guess
