Just bought one at Vapercon on saturday and I'm was loving it.

but I have put it down this morning and won't vape it again due to saftey reasons I layed it on its side and didn't see any vent holes on it I searched the whole device and couldn't find a single vent hole I thought it was standard to have vent holes in all PV's

Please advise

Thanks

The hotspring would also collapse if the battery shorts out.

I have an Altsmoke BB, which construction-wise is very similar to the Silver Bullet, just smaller. Not long after I had received it, I had a "protected" Trustfire 14500 battery short out and go thermal in it. This incident was totally user error. I had put the BB in a pants pocket in my locker at work and the power switch became compressed, triggering the battery to fire continuously until it went thermal. The hot gasses did vent through the power switch as designed. Below is the battery. The BB became too hot to touch, the plastic covering on the batteries melted, and the ends blew out.

Baditude, can you estimate how long your AltSmoke BB was firing in your locker? I had a similar experience, but it was only for about 15 minutes while I ran into do some quick grocery shopping. The protruding button on one of my mods was pressed down in a small carrying case as I had the case pretty packed full and zipped up tight. It wasn't long enough for the battery to go thermal, but it did get incredibly hot.

No, I don't have any idea, the incident happened a few months ago. Judging that it was so hot to touch, and there was a stench of burnt plastic in the immediate area, it probably wasn't more than 10-15 minutes before I returned to my locker to vape on it.

What is amazing to me is that after cleaning the BB up of an oily black substance that was on the outside (Don't know if that was a melted layer of black paint or whatever vented from the battery, but it wasn't inside the battery tube.), the BB continued to work fine for a few days with new batteries. A few days later the switch stopped functioning and had to be sent back to Chad at AltSmoke for replacement, in addition to replacing the hot spring. It only took him a couple of days to fix and repair it -- excellent and fast customer service by AltSmoke!

I use a Serenity Gear lanyard now with the BB. No more BB in pockets, at least not unless it is being attended to.
