ok, so after a day of having my Riva and loving it. I filled my cartos initially using the condom method, worked fine, but I popped the mouth piece off one tonight. Inside is a little chamber with two hole in the bottom of it, one on each side. So I figured what the hell and put the condom on the threaded end and proceeded to put juice into this chamber, filling it up. Pull the condom on the battery end slowly and it sucks the juice right down into the carto. Refilled & repeated a couple of times, cleaned the tiny bit of excess out with a paper towel, then replaced the little cap, stuck the condom back over the mouth end and shook it a bit. Then puffed away, worked like a charm!

Is this something new with these cartos? or is this just one way to fill these? I assume there is no real "wrong way" to get juice in the there? I watched a bunch of videos while my riva was charging initially and they all showed condom method, mostly from batt end, but some showed mouth end, and of course dripping right into the batt end.

Seems to me that popping the cap off the end and putting juice in is a lot easier, and less messy?

Sorry if I am clueless about this, but I was kinda proud of myself and my noob discovery.

You must have the soft cap carto's. They have a white rubber thing on the end of the mouthpiece. When I buy carto's that's the only kind I'll get. Yes you can just drip juice into it and it's easy to see when it's full. Just keep dripping until it looks wet but not flooded. I don't bother with the condom on the threaded end, I just fill them over a paper towel. If I over fill it just drips out so I know there's too much in there. If that happens I'll just blow through it to get the extra out.

I've done all of them with no problems. Usually with new cartos I'll do the condom from the mouthpiece end the first time, because it is pretty much totally dry and I figure the rubber piece is helping to push the juice into the filler. After that I'll pop the rubber cap off and drip it in so I can keep an eye on the juice level and hopefully avoid overfilling it. The only problem I can think of when filling from the battery end is if you're using automatic batteries; you're more likely to have excess fluid in the middle chamber/tube part which could kill the battery if not cleared out.

haha - I never heard that one - you put juice on the mouth end and pulled a condom off the battery end to suck it in? Cool.

Is that a CE2 carto? I think those have two holes in the inner cap (under the mouth cap) and I think you are meant to use a special flexible syringe tip to put juice in one hole slowly until it starts coming out the other (CE2 is a stuffing-less carto). I got a special filling kit for CE2's at VaporJunction but I think the needle size in those might be wrong so my CE2's actually came with a different flexible syringe tip? I still haven't tried them but was told how to fill those. Then there is some other kind of reservoir carto sort of like that but the "hole" looking spots are not pierced and you have to use a real syringe.

If yours have 2 holes in the inner cap then it sounds like your method gets the juice to go in where it's supposed ti, but without a flexible syringe.

Yeah it kind of surprised me. I just ordered the plain ones: Joye 510 Cartomizer - Black Empty 5 Pack, not the CE2 or anything. The Mouth piece has a black plastic cap, under there is a little space and then a solid black plastic stopper sort of thing (not removable that I can see) with a small hole on each side. So I just put juice in there and had the condom on the battery end, in case it leaked, The juice didn't go anywhere fast, so I figured it needed some air, like the old school giant cans of Hi-C that you needed to do 2 holes with a can opener. Started pulling the condom off the battery end and the juice disappeared. into the carto. So I was like, Hell that's cool. I Flooded the carto the first time around, no biggie, then the second one I did, worked out perfect (putting about the same amount of juice as you would with the standard condom method)

Just seemed different to me than what people described or showed in videos, maybe LF sent me the CE2 instead? I didn't see any way I could open them up and look in where the atty sits?

sounds like you have the Genuine Joye cartomizers... which are structured like the EgoMegaCartomizer.... though SOME say they can make the condom method work, it isn't ideal the design is different then 'traditional' cartomizers

check my thread and cozz's thread to see if this is the type you have

videos/pics are included in these threads

yup, those are the ones.

I also discovered unfortunately, that I probably twisted one on my other battery a little tight, when i unscrewed it a min ago, the threaded end of the carton came off and the filling came out. LOL ooops. Pushed it back in and put back together, minus some juice that leaked all over, it seems ok

Tol, have you watched the two videos lightgeoduck referred you to? He and Coz have both been around vaping for a long time and what they are telling you about the 510 cartos is right.

Some of the things you've been doing will get a bit of fluid into the carto, but I doubt it will completely fill it and your likely to waste a lot of expensive juice.

If you have any other questions, just ask!

Just got a chance to do that now, and thanks all!
Will have to pull one apart at some point and see where the juice is after I fill it like I mentioned above. Time to get myself a syringe though :)
