Sort of asking for a friend of mine... I'm happy with my 3.7v KGO. Friend wanted to try the ecig and he ordered same kit I have.

He seems to prefer less throat hit than I do. We were talking over his options about what to do to lower his throat hit - different PG/VG ratios, higher resistance cartos, etc.

Got me thinking about VV devices and maybe he could try one of those. But from my reading, seems like most people dial up the voltage above 3.7 though. And if my understanding is correct, too low a voltage may not fire the carto correctly.

Is it feasible to use a VV device and dial down to say 3.0 or even lower - maybe 2 or 2.5?

Right now he's using DCT tanks with LR, dual coil cartos. I'm pretty sure single coil, higher resistance cartos would fix his issue. But thought I would inquire just for the sake of more information.

I bought a DCT and some 1.5 ohm and 2.0 ohm dual coils to use on my 3.7v mod. The 1.5's hit pretty good, but the 2.0's didn't pack enough punch for me. You can get them in several resistance levels so I'd suggest buying one each of the 2.0's, 2.5's, and 3.0's. Try them all and see if any hit the spot then order more. You can find them individually here:

AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Dual Coil

They offer quantity discounts when you buy more than 5 or 10.

I just turned my provari down to 3.3 with a 3 ohm carto and it worked okay. That's as low as mine goes, but I think the V2 goes down to 2.9. Small changes in voltage can make big changes in the vape so going super low might not be necessary.

Provari would be a kind of expensive solution to this problem. What about simply lowering nicotine or trying a juice with more VG? And, as someone above posted, the Ego works at 3.4, so that might work for your friend.

You can lower the voltage or up the ohm rating, same thing in then end = watts.

I often wonder about that. Power is the product of current and voltage, and I often wonder if higher current, lower voltage power is the same as higher voltage, lower current power from the standpoint of vaping. I know Harman Kardon for years have been making home theater receivers with what they market as "high current amplifiers". I also know that HK receivers seem to have a warmer, darker sound than other consumer receivers. Not saying it's better, but it is somewhat different. Also, it's anyone's guess if that sound is because of some sort of "high current" amplifier topography, or something else, or even if "high current amplifier" isn't just a marketing term by HK to justify the fact that their amplifiers typically have lower power ratings than their direct competitors.

Yet another way to look at this is from the standpoint of high pressure spraying. Some people would tell you that the pressure of the line (equivalent to voltage) has less to do with the quality of the spray, than the amount of water being moved through the line (equivalent to current).

Not sure, but it's an interesting question. I'd love to see, or do some testing on it.
