why higher volts, instead of lower resistance

Kinda a stupid question maybe, but have always wondered since I'm new to the game.

If the end target in this whole thing is a hotter coil/atomizer for more vapor, bigger throat hit, and warmer vapor.... why are there so many hight voltage mods being the talk of the town, instead of lower resistance coils/atomizers?

Is there an advantage of a high volt decive with HR atomizer, over a device with normal (3.2-3.7) volts with a LR atomizer?

A regulated, boosted and preferrably variable wattage PV will provide much more consistency and thus better long term throat hit/warmer vapor than any LR atty/carto. The minute you start using any LR carto it starts to degrade. Many would rather reduce the variables that make vaping inconsistent.

in rebuildable atomizers, like a genesis. to me a lower resistance coil performs better that at higher resistances. to get a lower resistance you need a thicker wire, thicker wire more surface area per area. heats up the coil much faster. i have been using these rebuildables for quite some time and have tried alot of different coils. a lower resistant coil to me produces a much warmer and thicker vape. i like a 0.08 to 1.1 ohm coil @ 3.0 to 3.5 volts. most people who use these lower ohmed coils usaully use a mechanical mod because of the VV mods cut offs (they usaully cut -off under like 1.2 ohms) but using a VV device is better IMO because of circuit protection and the electronics gives you a consistant vape although the batteries are draining. also you can check ohms, battery life, and volts. unfortunately i believe for people like me who vape with these low resitant coils there is only the provari that will work. the provari can handle a coil to 0.08 ohms. i love the provari and has worked awesome for me. but i would like to purchase another VV device and maybe buy something a little different, but as far as i know the provari is the only one that can handle it.

I think the lower ohm attys will work better on a genisis mod than the LR clearos that people buy since you can wrap the wire around the coil differantly. I saw a video of a guy set up a z-atty pro at a low ohm. He only did a few revolutions around the wick, but there was a good amount of space between the wraps so it covered a lot of the wick area for heating. The pre made LR attys I get at the moment have the coil wraped super close to eachother and only cover a really small amount of the coil. I can't wait to be able to make my own and see what works and what I like best.

Also being able to check the ohms of an atty with the zmax will be a nice change for me. I've gotten some clearos and tanks both rated at 2.4 ohms, but some of them I could run 4.4 vots threw to get a good vape and others would only take 3.8 or 4 volts for the same vape. So I know there very inconsistant and being able to see the actual ohms will be nice.

So, my girl just told me she dropped the ball on ordering the zmax from steammokey before they ran out... it was a killer deal; 90 bucks, plus charger and batterys. Think it also had free shipping.

So, does anyone else know any amazing starter kit zmax deals out there for around 100 bucks? Were trying to stick to a 100 buck limit for xmas this year.

If not, should I go with a vamo? I guess if there's no other deals for a starter zmax kit, then it would either be a vamo with batteries and charger, or a zmax with no batteries or charger.

I personally chose the Vamo over the Zmax but that doesn't mean you would since it's personal preference. I don't think anyone is running a $90 deal like that right now but that can change daily. Another option could be to look in the co-op section.

The most important differences between the Vamo and Zmax for ME was: Price and Menu system. I like to fiddle with my voltage and wattage constantly and the Vamo makes it easy as pie. Where as the Zmax menu system is REALLY clunky and cryptic. As far as price .. well, I bought an entire Vamo kit for $52 shipped.

Watts are Watts........however........... look at is like this. You can get 8 watts of power with 3.7 v with a 2 ohm lr atty. Or you can get similar with 6 volts with 3 ohm atty. The difference is the 3 ohm atty will have 7 wraps of coil around the wick vs 5 around the LR atty. That is about a 20% increase in area. So for the same power, you can get 20% more vapor for every puff. Clouds!!!!!!!!!

Your example is seriously flawed. Power(Watts)=Voltage(V) squared divided by Resistance(Ohms). 3.7v with a 2 ohm LR atty is giving you 6.85 watts. 6 v with a 3 ohm atty is going to give you 12 watts (and probably burnt juice)

I think I'll go with the vamo for now, just can't beat that price. If I don't like it, I'll take the plung to a zmax or provari. I guess id hate to start with a expencive mod when a good priced vamo was all I ever needed.

Might get two at these prices. There almost the same price as my vision spinner was, lol.

I think you will like the Vamo. It does everything you would want and you can adjust settings real quick.

How do people who do RBAsuse lower resistances and get crazy vapor?

I use a mechanical hybrid (ihybrid) as my daily vape. There are a bunch of ways to get a genesis to pump out the vapor, mainly low resistance. It has to do with how quick your wick can get juice to the coil, less resistance=hotter faster therefore more juice to the coil=more vapor. With that said... too low resistance, even if you're wick is supplying enough juice can stress a battery to an unsafe level (thermal runaway), that's why its pretty common practice not to go under 1-1.5 ohm (at the absolute lowest) with aw batteries. A zap, cobra or a DID with a mod with short circuit protection is a good place to start for entering into gennies, or do a lot of research and get a good multimeter and a hybrid. IMO, genesis type atties are the best for flavor for me, I've tried just about everything out there too. I've gone from vv to VW to mechanical and varying resistance, also tried bottom/top feed before settling where I am. Lol long answer to a short question.
