I will say one thing about vaping flavoring.... I sometimes "run into" "my" flavors in stuff I buy, like a something-merengue yoghurt and going, "Oh, there's my merengue.... " LOL. I had no idea how ubiquitous this stuff was in some foods until I started DIY.

Sorry to not be of more use with the flavorings, you appear to like stuff I do not.... But I think you are going to have a great time with it!

and there are so many different peanut butters.. so unless i feel like buying them all to test out.. and i don't lol. it's hard to determine which i'll have the most luck with.

@Ladiekali when starting out my best recommendation is to forget the recipes and make something unique by yourself. Use the recipes to get inspiration but do not try to recreate something. If you made it from scratch only you know how it should taste!

i keep buying vendors cinnamon danish's and i don't tste the bakery part. and its not deep in flavor. hmmm.

The FLV does not have a bakery note of its own- it’s a pure cinnamon. What I mean when I say it’s a bakery cinnamon is that it’s much more like the cinnamons used in baking than like a cinnamon candy. If you’re looking for red hots it is not the cinnamon you’re looking for. But if you are looking for an actual cinnamon stick it’s the one.

If you mean glass ones, or LDPE and PP plastic bottles for your finished eliquids:

Many people just starting out with DIY, thoroughly wash and reuse their bottles from their store-bought eliquid. That's the cheapest route to go by far.

If you don't want to reuse those or don't have any, many places sell them at decent prices. However, to usually get the best prices on new ones...you'd need to buy in quantity or lots like from these places:

DropperBottles.com - for LDPE or PET plastic bottles in many sizes, but only in lots of 100; will carry glass in the very near future, too

PackagingOptionsDirect.com - carries plastic bottles and glass ones; the more you buy the lower the cost for each

GlassBottleOutlet.com - same as above

In smaller quantities/lots:

eBay

DesertVapes.com - always has a good deal on lots of (10) little 4-5mL LDPE ones that I use for sample size; carries several other sizes, too, but they're not as cheap; often has coupon codes that lower the price

OSDIY - plastic and/or glass ones priced by the each; coupon code ECF or ECF gets you a minimum of 11% off sitewide

FastTech - Has a huge variety of types and sizes in the LDPE and PP that most people use; really cheap, too, if you don't mind the wait to get them

China is your best bet if you're willing to wait. Fasttech sometimes has good deals, but Amazon often has better deals through Chinese sellers. I forget what I paid for my last 100-pack of 30ml bottles, but that in itself tells you something- it was an inconsequential amount.

Actually, as a general rule, if you're willing to wait for things to come on the slow boat from China you'll save a lot of money by ordering from China. Most stuff you get from US retailers is just stuff they ordered from China and then marked up 100%-1000%. If you want it this week that justifies the markup, but if you can wait you can get most things for just a bit above wholesale, and lots less than retail. Patience is a virtue.

JCinFLA post is where we find most of our bottles, but pay attention to the opening of the bottle. FT seems to only have the ones with really small(to me) openings for the ldpe. OSDIY has ldpe bottles with a much bigger opening. I prefer the larger opening. I pour a lot so for me its much better than having to use a needle to transfer flavorings or pg/vg.

I noticed that seems to be the trend of late... even for US suppliers. Glass Bottle Outlet appears to oly offer the narrow necks now too. I am wondering if it is due to the "child proof" regulations, or if it is just a cost savings matter.

All my unicorn bottles have small(er?) openings. So, when I mix directly into those, I find a small funnel helpful (also available from OSDIYS; for cheap!). Granted, it is one more thing to wash; but I would rather do that than slop half my 15mL mix down the side of the bottle (curse my shaky hands!).

just sat here and looked up ten flavors and mixed them up any where between 3 and 10 percent.

I just made 6ml at a time. I didn't want to overwhelm myself, so i just picked ten flavors.

i have some peanut butters, cinnamon roll/danish, vanilla's, the lucky shot and lotta latte.

Some smell so good i want to vape them right now. but i'm gonna try to wait for a color change.
i mixed everything max vg and zero nic for now.

after i bought my flavors i wish i had thought of getting a soda flavoring.
I really think i need to stay away from fruits.

Anyway, wanted ya'll to know. i really took every one's advice and am giving this an honest go. wish me luck.

Why? Can you taste colors?
Color changes or long steeping times are not necessarily an indication of better taste.
Test the juices over a longer period of time, it's the only method to find out what tastes best to you.

While I would agree that the flavors you list are usually associated with steeping I've had vanillas and custards that just tasted progressively worse over a few weeks than they did on day 1 and 2 right after mixing.
Don't be afraid to test!

Everyone finds what works best for them. For me, I find it useful to taste (vape a bit; 0.10-0.5mL) any/every new recipe and ingredient. I like to knowing a "starting point," so I can understand "how" (and "if") the e-liquid is going to develop as it ages. Then I taste every couple of days for the first week; and then at least once a week thereafter. That is how I learn when I am going to like my mixes best. (BTW: jotting down my perceptions, during each tasting, helps me remember what it was like previously. They are also useful for future reference.)


There is nothing harmful about tasting young juices. And, the knowledge gained is invaluable.

And some flavors won't change color for a long, long time.

I don't find color change to be at all relevant to a blend reaching its sweet spot.

New flavors I'll usually mix 10 mls, at my usual nic and PG/VG ratios. I'll put part in a KF, and will take a week or so nursing that KF as the blend matures - and the heat from vaping may accelerate that a tad. Any color change during that time I attribute to carmelization.

I 100% concur with this! Unless a person is intentionally aging/oxidizing the nicotine itself, to bring out its own subtle flavor notes; color is not a useful, or reliable, indicator.
