Many of my juices steep and then get vaped with no color change. It can take quite some time for any color to appear (if at all). I'd just try them at regular intervals until they start tasting good, then start vaping them (may happen more quickly with some mixes than others).

ya know. out of all the juice i've bought, they all tasted better a few days after getting them. most have been unvapable fresh. so i don't understand why it would be different with diy.

also, most fruit juices don't change colors much.

but creams definately do. and i know from buying vanilla's, when the juice is clear i don't like it, when it turns amber it tastes much better. so my thinking was based on this experience.

Those you bought from vaping companies and tasted better after some days were juices that were probably freshly mixed and the shipping time was calculated to the overall steeping time, but they did the maths wrong or came to your hands faster than estimated. +1 for the creams statement.

this was a big waste of money. Again.

i mixed all my flavors at 3, 10 and 20%

where the heck is the flavor?

i feel like i was fooled to waste this money. for $130 i could have gotten a lot of stash eliquid packed with flavor.

this diy is a joke.

and most diy'ers told me to start at 3%. I don't get it. maybe my tastebuds are shot from too many years smoking??

i got french vanilla's
peanut butters
cinnamon roll/bun flavors
lotta latte
and lucky shot

they all have a hint of flavor.
none were good at 3%, some were ok at 10% but nothing to scream home about.
nothing worth mixing up to vape all day.

this is a huge discouragement.. does any one mix over 20%?

everything was off at all percentages so i don't even have a clue what to do next. all i know is i need more flavor.

i don't know why it's so discouraging. why does smoking have to be so simple. i've been 2 months smoke free and all i want is a freaking cigarette and to throw all this crud in the trash. it's getting too complicated. i got diy stuff every where. i can't believe i wasted my money on this. i really thought i'd get something i could vape. instead i got a big freaking mess with greasy bottles every where.

ya'll make it sound so easy and it's not. Nothing even came out half as good as dollar ejuice club. and their juice is pretty bad!!

You shouldn't touch any of your mixes (or add any flavor) for at least a week. Some of them may be overflavored.

The mixes you are describing require some steeping time. Even commercial juices are steeped, without time, they would be flavorless too. If you get a "one shot" concentrate, some of that can be vaped immediately.

I wouldn't obsess on your mixes right now, it will drive you batty. You need to WAIT. Also, I don't think anyone said DIY is EASY. I find it fun, laborious, and worth my time. But I started very slowly and really learned to understand my flavors. I would mix single flavors, steep them, and combine in my tank to a) understand my flavors and b) get a sense of how they might interact. I don't follow recipes I create my own, but that took time and planning, and experimentation. It is a process, much like learning to cook.

As to instability and depression and anxiety yes it happens when you quit. Tobacco (not nicotine) contains MAOI-A and -B, even tar is an MAOI-B. These are powerful anti depressant and anti anxiety medications that happen to be in tobacco. As your brain recalibrates, it can be normal to feel these things. You could try whole tobacco alkaloid e-liquid, the best budget maker I know of is Umbavapes. You really only need a tiny amount (I would put like a half-dropperful in my tanks, starting out, I just mixed it right in and I still keep some around for stressful situations.) This may help your brain as it adjusts to the changes going on and it takes time to reach homeostasis, where your brain receptors are no longer "craving" those substances. WTA really helps some folks quit and is much easier to taper than regular cigarettes.

If you smoke a frustration cigarette here and there, you may find some relief, but in my opinion WTA is safer than that. Your other alternative is to consult your doctor regarding the anxiety and depression you are feeling. Some folks start smoking BEFORE the onset of depression and/or anxiety, and have a harder time switching as smoking was "treating" the underlying condition.

Best of luck, don't throw in the towel quite yet..

I will say this for a fact. It takes time for your taste buds to get to where anything taste right. When I first started vaping the only juice I could taste was keylime and menthol (tfa keylime 9% and menthol at 2%) and I never smoked menthol. It was months before I could taste anything good. Depression, hell yeah. You will be surprised how many tricks your brain will play on you to get back to the smokes.

I don't know if any of this will help, but here's my take on things.

I usually mix tobaccos at 3% and other flavors at 10%. However, being tired of coil gunking, I've recently been trying the other flavors at 5%.

Trying new flavors, you never know what you're gonna get. So, I never depend on them. I make sure I have plenty of juice in the meantime and steep for at least a week (at least a month for tobaccos). I know some people don't steep much. I think they're using much higher flavoring percentages.

It is very possible to over flavor. Which means that the flavor peaks at a certain percentage then starts to diminish as you add more.

Your tastebuds will take time to recover. But, that doesn't mean you can't taste anything at all. You will slowly need less flavor over time. It took me between 6 and 9 months for my tastebuds to recover. Until then, I loved Caramel Macchiato. Once recovered, the same flavor tastes sickeningly sweet. I hate it now.

Since you only recently quit smoking, you may need twice the flavoring that I do. I don't know.

DIY is relatively easy as long as you stick to 'sure things' (flavorings that are already combined for you like Lotta Latte and Lucky Shot). I also like Tiramisu and Root Beer Float. But, it depends on your individual taste.

Above all, it takes patience. Patience to steep. Patience to experiment if you want to try combinations of flavoring.

I would think a Cinnamon Roll flavoring would be pretty safe. But, I haven't tried that yet. So, I don't know.

You need to already have juice so that you can be patient with your experimenting and learning. And, you may need WTA to help ease you into vaping only. I've never tried it. But, I've heard lots of good things about it.
