Ok so where do i start...

I have a silver bullet and have been vaping using a 4.2volt 2900 Li-Ion battery with a LR 510 Atty at around 1.5 or 1.8 ohms (been a while since i tested all of them with my multimeter).

I am on my last LR atty and am thinking about getting the A7 rebuildable atty from empiremods. My concern is the they say "USE CAUTION WHEN USING THIS WITH UNPROTECTED DEVICES". I am assuming something that a provari or a darwin has to protect it from shorts while I dont think the silver bullet has this protection except for the hot spring. Will this possibly cause the battery and hot spring to fry if something happens or is a rebuildable fairly safe to use (most if not all rebuildables have the same caution)? I eventually plan to buy some 400x400 SS mesh and some heating coil and make my own coils in the future to save even more on money (and better flavor).

I am also thinking about getting the Kick. I know I will need to buy some IMR batteries, but this is fine since I have been using 3 LI-Ion batteries for about a year and figure they will eventually stop holding a decent charge soon. I have three questions regarding the Kick... First, Does it matter how many ohms the atty has since the kick will "adjust" to find the sweet spot for each one? i.e. LR atty at 1.5 and a SR Atty at 2.3, they will all act the same? Or if a make my own Coil and one is 1.7 and the next time its 2.4 will it act the same (same flavor, vapor?) Second question... Will the kick protect from shorts? If i use a rebuildable atty, will this be safer and not cause the battery to fry (or the hot spring) if something happens? Third question... How many watts am I using if I vape at 4.2 volts, LR atty at 1.5 or 1.8 ohms? (this is for setting up the kick in the future).

I plan to buy the A7 first and eventually getting the kick in my next one or two paychecks. Should I wait to use them together (if the kick protects from shorts)? Or is the A7 safe to use without a kick for the time being?

Thank you everyone!

I will do my best to answer your questions to best of my knowledge, If I am wrong anyone correct me please.......

1. Kick will auto adjust voltage to the atty ohm & wattage its set on based on answer #3.
2. From what I can tell from Kick directions on Nhaler's website the Kick will protect from shorts if installed properly.
3. (V * V) / R = W so if your using a 1.8 ohm coil @ 4.2v ( 4.2v * 4.2v ) / 1.8 = 9.8 Watts OR 1.5ohm @ 4.2v ( 4.2 * 4.2 ) / 1.5 = 11.7 Watts

So if you set the Kick to 9 watts on a 1.8ohm atty the kick will auto set voltage to 4.02v. I use an app on my phone to do all these calculations for me. When building your own coils I recommend buying/using a cheap digital ohm meter that you can buy at Radio Shack, Home Depot, or other electronics supplier to play safe against shorts damaging your equipment. Most VV devices have short protection built in, but mechanical and devices such as the SB do not.

8-9 watts for me is my sweet spot. This is subjective based on user, wick material, and juice used.

Just curious what app you have?
Now for my answer to the op and bare with me this is my experience the answer that I have quoted is correct 1.5 ohms @ 4.2 volts is 11.7 watts and 1.8 is 9.8 watts. As for using a kick for lower ohm atty's I don't find it necessary, I only use my kick with higher ohm atty's on my 3.7 volt device. If you are using 4.2 volt batteries with these atty's I believe this is about what you would get with the kick. The kick just removes the math and guess work, and allows you to get somewhat of a vv vw experience from your 3.7 volt device. The kick is a masterpiece of vaping equipment but at low ohms I take mine out.

The Android app I'm using is Mr Combi Ohms Law Calculator v1.01. It gives you 4 input boxes that you just enter data in two of them to calculates the rest, voltage-amps-ohms-watts, easy to use and free.

You are spot on about the unnecessary need for the Kick at some resistances. I do not yet own a Kick, still deciding if its really needed for me. Currently I use a mechanical device with a 18650 battery only with Vivi Nova's with 1.8 ohm atty's and rebuildables, so this performs perfectly for me as my all day vape device. It's for this reason I'm still on the fence about getting a Kick and because I also want to get a Provari in the future. If I skip the Kick I could save $ quicker for the Provari.

Also to note to the op, the battery your using will probably measure 4.1-4.2 volts on full charge on a multimeter, but that is with no load on it. With the same battery under atty load it's probably closer to 3.7 -3.8 range, where it should be.

Should I be concerned by using a A7 rebuildable (or any rebuildable) on a silver bullet?

You should be fine with the A7 on the SB. Just make sure you check for shorts / ohms before attaching. Use a multimeter @ the 510 connection of the rebuildable. I would keep it 1.5 ohms or above. You could also get a 2cent fuse for added protection

The reason the manufacturers state that they do not recommend using rebuildables on unprotected devices is because they do not want to be responsible if you mess up and short your device. Like JKVaper said, test it with an ohmmeter before installing on your SB. Also, afterwards, place it on your SB with the cover off so you can see the coil, put a drop of juice on the coil, hold it away from your face, and fire it off for a quick check. If it vapes the juice, you can put her together and get to vapin'.
