Hey everyone. I am from Milwaukee Wisconsin, I just joined, and I have been a smoker for about 5 years. Now I know this is probably nothing compared to other people on here but it's hard for me to quit because I am around smoke all the time. I was looking for a cheap e cig to use as an alternative for when I am around situations where there are other people smoking. And in all honestly, I really do like smoking. I like the relaxation and social part of it...also there is nothing like being a 5,500 road trip and stopping at a rest area at 3am and having a cigarette.

So I bought BLU. I really should have done a little more research but it seemed reasonable. I was thinking of canceling my order, after taking 3 weeks to process a WHITE one, and ordering Volcana but I read that they pretty much give off the same vapor and are the same brand. It's just that BLU gives you an extra atomizer. So I stuck with BLU.

I just got my Windom Teeth pulled today so I can't smoke for a few days. And my BLU, white, e-cig should be coming by Thursday or Friday (4 weeks later  ). So I am thinking of not even going back to analog and just using the e-cig since I have to go 4-5 days without smoking anyway. Why go back?

Also I am interested in this for flying. I have read about 3 other topics on here about airport travel and I think I am going to play it safe and just Vap in the bathroom. However, I am still going to try to ask anyway.

So in conclusion.
Do you think I made the right choice for picking BLU as my first e-cig?
How good is it in terms of assistance in quitting analog?
What kind of e-liquid do you recommend?

Thank You!
I am looking forward to posting and discussing on here!

I started with a Blu, and was extremely unhappy. I believe it may be partly due to the quality of the product, though "fit and finish" is good. They do look nice, and it's a really slick concept. When I first learned about e-cigarettes, having something that was as close to a standard cigarette as I could get. For that reason alone I amlost did NOT go with the Blu, because they weren't the color of my Winstons...

Now, I actually WANT something that bears NO resemblance to a cigarette at all, just to help break that portion of the habit. I think once I get out of that "cigarette in hand" mindset, it will be easier for me to lower the nicotine levels gradually.

Back to the Blu: If you're a light smoker to begin with, I think the Blu is a good place to start, but near the end of my first week, I had one battery dying quickly, and I was ready to just pull the poly fill material out of the cartridges and suck on them to get my nicotine fix. Over all, though the conept of providing a very close approximation of a regular cig is good, if you are currently a moderate to heavy smoker, you will be soon looking in to better personal vaporizers. I have a Joye 510 now, and I am very happy with it, but I am still looking for bigger, better, faster and more!

To that end I am purchasing a "mod" from someone locally who makes them, and am gathering the tools and supplies to start making my own. I am also looking heavily in to making, marketing, and selling e-juice, and researching delivery systems that are as "user friendly" as a Blu.

Good luck with your purchase, and I hope that this feedback is what you were looking for! If not, please don't become discouraged. Do some more research. The folks using this forum are a never ending font of knowledge, and depending on how fast you assimilate information, you will soon become an "expert" too.

PVs are very good in terms of quitting (much moreso than other forms of nic replacement, although a PV is an alternative method notan NRT) although many people buy them with an eye to cutting back rather than quitting - quitting seems to be a sort of by-product effect!
Just don't have massive expectations, go at your pace (have a cig if you feel you must, don't deny yourself, just use the PV more and more as seems natural) and don't stress over any 'fallbacks'. There is a learning curve with most PVs.
I really can't comment on the BLU, other than the last thing I wanted wa something like lit up or looked like a cig, lol - I did my research before i bought anything and got a 510 but if you get one and are happy with it that's all that counts :)
As for juice - how long have you got? :D
There are more juices out there than I can name easily in a minute - take a browse on the E Liquid review forums to see what's 'in' right now. Might give you some ideas - should give you at least a lits of suppliers whose websites you can browse .
Can't tell you about re-filling a BLU either I'm afraid as I don't know the brand personally.
Hope that was some help.

I don't know much about the BLU and how well it works. I do have to tell you that I started vaping because I wanted to quit smoking analog completely and had no luck with cold turkey/chantix/nic gum...but I was determined to quit.

Quitting analogs by using an Ecig is the most painless thing I have ever done. I had absolutely no withdrawal symptoms or agonizing moments like I had every other time I tried to quit.

A week after no analogs and vape only I tried an analog cig after a night of drinking. It was disgusting and I couldn't even finish it. I am now 100% convinced that I will never go back to analog ~ and the best part is...it didn't hurt a bit!

I have now been vaping full time for 2 1/2 weeks and I started @ 11mg tabacco flavor and I have moved on (quickly) to the more fruity and nutty flavors and down to 6 mg and next week will be vaping 0 nic and I really have to tell you it was the easiest thing I have ever done in my life.

If you are serious about quitting this is a great way to go ~ at least it worked fabulously for me!

(I use the KR808 but I've heard a lot of good things about others as well)

I havnt used a blu so i really cant comment on it. My First was Smoke 51 trio at first i hated it, so i ordered a joye510 from cignot and Im loving it, I Vape Vg juice, I just like it better i dont know why. I never really thought about quitting, the thought hurt my mind, with the 510 i just forgot to smoke :) But back to my Smoke 51, I love that sucker too. my smoke 51 gives off more scents than my 510, but my 510 give me faster nicoten rushes.

Now as for you having wisdom teeth pulled dont be sucking on that ecig either, you will be pull those sockets open :) Good luck

There are a LOT of Juice suppliers out there. I only purchase juice (so far) from Vapor For Life because that is where I started and I know them and trust them. But I know as a newbie it is sometimes hard to find sources for this kind of stuff so here is a list of some that I have heard of but have not tried:

Mrs T's (heard GREAT reviews on forum): Ms Ts Bakery Essentials

Totally Wicked Ejuice E-Liquid - Totally Wicked E-Juice / Totally Wicked eLiquid / electronic cigarette eliquid nicotine fluid products

DIY Flavor Shack (although I think there are actually store hours and you can't order 24/7 but people on Forum rave about the products when they can get them) DIY Flavor Shack by E-Cig Smoke Store

Hope that helps to start you out. I personally LOVE the 555 flavor that I get from V4L but flavor and taste is definitely subjective!

Thanks for the response!

I guess as far as e-liquid goes I would like something that produces a lot of vapor, has a decent taste, and is relatively cheap. I smoke about a pack a day Newports so menthol would be good.

I did some research to and Blu and Volcano cartridges are refillable.

I forgot to put the link to V4L up in case you want to check there as well:
Vapor King Kits

Also...I bought a bottle of USP Vegetable Glycerin ~ I bought the NOW brand from Sunflower health foods market because I heard good things about this brand. I like to add about 1 ml VG to 5 ml of PG juices and it seems to help give me a big boost in vapor!

If you go to NOW products website they have a store locator that will tell you where you can buy their products in your area:
NOW Foods - the official site of NOW Foods

Blu's are *marginally* refillable. You will spend almost as much time refilling as you will vaping. :) I know from experience. Also, if you are expecting a lot of vapor, you will be dissapointed at least 50% of the time.

Hm...well given that you got a Blu one the way it's not much help to tell you it's not a good unit since that's what you've got. You do have a time period within which to return it so you could go ahead and order a bigger model if you're starting to feel comfortable with that.

I agree with jace that, while the Blu's are refillable: push out the inner cart with a paper clip, add juice, push inner cart back in with tweezers or some such, and reconnect the cart...due to the small cartridge size, if you vape even moderately it begins to be a pain as the newness of the device wears off. Volcano carts are a bit bigger so if you end up happy enough with the Blu, maybe get those.

You might find yourself getting a lot more enjoyment out of the Blu if you dip or drip, once you get some juice in from any of the suppliers kindly suggested above or others.

Be careful dripping: you've got an auto battery which is not sealed so dripping too much can cause juice to run up into it, bad news. Remove the cart, drip 2-3 drops on the atomizer bridge, replace with a blank cart (no inner cart, kit should have come with 2) cart, vape.

Or (easier): get a one of those contact lens cases, put some juice in one of 'em and instead of dripping onto the atomizer, just dip the bridge in and let it wick up some juice.

Sorry if you're already familiar with these methods, but I do suggest them as a way to enjoy your Blu while you're at home without having to muck about refilling all the time.

I started with one of these myself, then got a 510 which requires less tinkering and I'm much happier with. Now I'm tired of recharging batteries all the time so some eGo/Tornady batteries are on the way. Although this is more expensive than starting with a big battery unit...I'm not sure I would change things around - I was convinced I needed something analog sized and that helped to start and replace cigarettes. Now that is no longer an issue, and free to try things less and less similar to analogs with ease of use and performance as the upside.

Welcome, good luck kicking the analogs, and - Happy Vaping!

After looking at it, it seems like Volcano produces better vapor....yet BLU and Volcano are the same model. Is it possible to buy some Volcano cartridges and a atty to get the same result? .

I also found a vapor fix video on YouTube for both BLU and Volcano. Is the throat hit on the BLU really that bad? And does the choice in E-liquid make a difference?

Also, do you think I could use the Volcano pass through on the BLU?

You could get Volcano carts (bigger inner cart) and atty's if you wanted them and attach them to the Blu battery no problem. Throat hit depends on the nic concentration and the PG/VG mix in the juice - so yes, you can get e-liquid that will be more to your liking than the stuff volcano or blu use to fill their carts...and better filler (blue foam / PTB / fluval etc.) can certainly help. Lastly, the pass-through (PT) from Volcano should work just fine. Think of the two vendors as selling the same product with different logos (save for the carts themselves and the flavors included). Cheers!

Hi all.
I am relativley new to the ecig, and have the following.
Blu starter kit, 510 and M401's. As far as the Blu goes. I ordered on Thursday and got it in 4 days, so maybe their shipping issues have been resolved. The Blu vapes different than the 501 or 401. Take a real slow and easy drag and they work great. Go to fast or deep and they do not vape well. Automatic batteries come on way to easy (can't even hold them in my mouth without them turning on). Battery last less than the others but thats due to the size. The carts are great for flavor but do run out quickly due to size and packing. I re-modded mine with Fluval and they last as long as the 401's now.
I also dip with a old cart and the bottom opened up more, which produces a real good hit.
The packaging and box are excellent. I wish they had the same for my 401 and 501 (PCC's not the same). Having extra carts, batts, atty and a place for the Blu cig make it worth the $60.00 I spent. I also found that if you use a higher Nicotine level these hit pretty good.
Overall impression is these are great if your a light/moderate smoker, mod the carts and don't use in windy conditions. I disagree with all the bad reviews that they recieved. I have no complaints and the Blu's no belong to my wife who loves them. She did not like the 501 due to size and she kept dropping it. The 401 works pretty much the same as the Blu but battery lasts a bit longer and is activated by inhaling instead of sound (a big Plus).
Personally I enjoy switching between all 3 types at night. I love it and these might have cost me some money up front, BUT, after 40Yrs. of smoking 2 packs a day, I haven't had a analog cigarette in 2 weeks. So it is all worth it. Hope this helped.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I am very new at this also and found this forum to be so helpful. I also started with the blu. It was good enough to get me hooked on vaping. However, I encountered problems with it right away. No consistant vapor or TH. Atty died after a couple of days. I ordered another model from elumacigs.com and have been happily vaping ever since. What a difference. With the help of other ECF members I was able to figure out that eluma is same as a 902. works great and carts are much bigger.
The blu batts are compatable with the 902 but not the carts. I still do use the blu once in a while when I want a lighter vape. I also just ordered a 510 and can't wait to try it out. Another thing I noticed is that with the blu I still craved the bigger hit of the analog, but when I got my 902, that went away completely. I hope this helps you some.

Tarheeldan: Thanks.
Its been a pleasure doing E-Cigs. I got my 1st E-Cig (firelight) to try them out. I had no intention of stopping analogs, just cutting down.
Well, that sure lead to a whole new hobby. Got the Blu next. Did mods, dipping, all that fun stuff. Some times I would run into wanting bigger throat hits, more vapor, etc. I was using 15 and 11 for Nicotine and wound up vaping heavy to make up for 2 packs a day. After some reading I decided to try a 501. OK, they are vapor producing machines.
Overall impression of this whole E-Cig experience is outstanding. I have a new hobby that my wife a kids laugh at me as I mod away, refill, experiment, but its all positive and they love it.
Now my only problem is I vape like a SOB. One time by the end of the day, my tongue felt like it was burnt (guess I overdid it). But I enjoy these more than my old smoking.
To all concerned. Get some E-cig's and start a new life. God, if I can do it, anyone can.
