Bloomberg philanthropies seems to be going after tobacco e-cigarettes with a multi million dollar three year program.

Reporting on it seems to be confusing. It’s being spun a couple of ways it seems. Some saying they’re going after the tobacco companies making e-cigarettes specifically, some saying they’re going after ecig flavorings which would effectively be supporting the tobacco companies, since this is what they’ve been after for years in an effort to combat e-cigarettes in favor of cigarettes.

Not sure who actually thinks what. My suspicion is someone personally sold Mike Bloomberg a bill of goods without giving him the full story.

Not at all surprising from the guy who's been pushing soda taxes. He's a typical elitist who thinks he should be able to control how the hoi polloi live.
Judgy perhaps. Hard to know from here. I’m not a New Yorker.
I know little about Bloomberg. My memory of his rep is he’s pretty far right for a lefty. He was a very popular regional political leader for a while. I don’t know much about sodas. I suspect the whole sugar-and-soda issue has at least as much interested money and BS floating about in it as the e-cigarette issue. One would think real science access might be easier on that subject. Health stuff is famous for misleading competing “studies” though so it’s hard to know.

My personal impression is that he means well but may act rashly sometimes. My personal impression is worth little though.
