I was at a clients house this morning and she said "XXX have you quit smoking"? And I was happy to say "Yes I Have".
Then I pointed out I had started vaping.
Her reaction was Happy I didn't smoke anymore but then said "Those things have just as many bad things in them as cigarettes".

I had to give her the run down on the ingredients. Hopefully I got through to her.

But it amazes me the Misinformation being spread around on vaping.

We all need to stop calling it E-Cigarettes.

As I was leaving she commended on I smell better and that is why she asked if I had quit. I was happy to hear that also.

My family is thrilled I quit and am now vaping. None of them have approached me with, "those things are as bad a smoking." I haven't had to give a run-down on vaping yet but I'm sure I will. There really is too much negative propaganda out there about vaping and I'm hoping that it will end as FDA gets more results in showing how much it has improved lives regardless of what they find. I know, pipe dream. It's just a matter of time before e-cigs will get a more positive reputation once the real science behind them comes to light. How else will the BT companies sell them if they can't do that?

Oh man, that is a big no no in my book. Bringing up ecigs (sorry) to a client is very similar to bringing up religion. In most cases it is not going to do any good, and in fact, more than likely you could destroy a good business relationship. Unless your client directly says "I am a vapor" or "I love god" don't bring up either of these things...:2c:

Yea I had a smoker tell me yesterday about vaping being as bad as cigarettes. It really astounds me how people can be so misinformed. Actually, no, no it doesn't. People believe whatever they see on the news and accept it as irrefutable fact.

It must be true, I read it on the internet!

Back when I started vaping in October of last year or so, the whole media phenomenon/regulation scares hadn't quite hit full force yet, but I could see where it was going and the general theme of previously published articles and government statements, so I warned my family ahead of time.

"Family, Big Tobacco, Big Pharma, and the government would like to see this go away, so get ready for it to blow up, and you're going to be hearing a lot of information that is completely false". Which they did hear, though they weren't surprised...as a result, I can still vape in the house :D

Smokers are quick to tell you how bad e-cigs are, but it's the first time in 25 years they have been told they have done anything right (by staying away from e-cigs)
The one I'm hearing a lot of is "You know the flavors have to go, that's marketing to children" I ask them to explain who bubble gum flavored condoms are marketing to, and that's usually the end of them saying dumb stuff.

Last weekend at my boss's house (one of those mandatory social I hate) her mom loudly proclaims that my e-cig is more harmful than smoking. Before my brain engaged my mouth did and I said "That is not true". Silence. I began to explain, got the first three words out when she said (very loudly again) "No one knows how bad those are". My boss's husband quickly and smoothly changed the subject and I was spared further damage. Kinda of funny now ...

My boss and her entire staff are OK with it so I am lucky. But the level of misinformation I hear on TV comes out of their mouths all the time. But I find they mostly just don't care, don't want to hear it, I don't get to share.

If I hadn't brought it up, as the means for me quitting cigarettes, she would of gone on with those thoughts about how bad it is. She may still have them but at least she has heard from someone that is vaping and knows the REAL Story. That may just lead her to investigate further and find out for herself what the real story is.

If I had left at "Yes I've quit smoking" without HOW she would continue to spread that same misinformation.

In my opinion whenever the chance comes up, to whoever brings up the subject of quitting or smoking or vaping, it is my duty to express my opinion. If I didn't, and no one else does, then that misinformation will be the end of vaping and the end of using it as a means to get off the cigarettes.

I never talk religion.

So I think you are mistaken on the vaping part.

I was actually surprised when I got here and this site referred to what we use as e-cigarettes. I'd never in a million years mistake my big nautty tank for a cigarette. No one has, though a few people think it's a small oxygen tank. I do not even know how to address those people. I assumed everyone used PV. I think the other posters are right it isn't an electronic cigarette is it? It is really a personal or portable vaporizer. Right? Different beasts? Am I just reaching and splitting the proverbial semantics hairs?

That is always the first comment I get..."I have heard it's worse than smoking." People like to put other people down and demonstrate that they know more than you. They also think it is humorous in some bizarre way. They are trying to make a joke albeit a poor one. Sometimes I say "So what do you think are the ingredients in eJuice?" Then the dumb, glazed look comes over their face. Then I gently explain what I know and why I vape...I usually have the last word- not that it is important to me to have the last word...

The doctors have to "error on the side of caution." No doctor in the land will come out and say that vaping is healthy. It will never happen. I am also not suggesting that anyone will ever think that will happen. I think the best we can do is have the medical community say it is significantly less harmful than analogs...
