A Cigarette is a cigarette....no other word better describes it.
I think that as PVs become mainstream, the terms "vaping", "vapers", "vaped", etc. will likely become common terms in the English language. Probably even get a Webster's definition eventually. I just can't think of any other terms that better describe.
Nic juice is good for me. I'm also OK with "joose", "juice", "e-liquid"(although not my favorite) and whatever else someone chooses to use.
I also liked the fog terms someone else used. I've seen this a few times and kinda like it. After all, it is rather fitting don't you agree? Maybe something like "fog stick" is a good term for PVs.
I don't really like the term PV or personal vaporizer simply because it makes me think of the vaporizers my Mother used to put in my bedroom when I would get a cold. You know, the ones you put some menthol liquid in to open your respiratory system? Makes it sound like a medical device...which I think should be avoided at all costs.

Spending most of this morning reading through the pet peeves thread, I noticed that many members have a problem with the language used to describe this thing we all do. Some objected to the word cigarette being anywhere in the description, some thought personal vaporizer sounded like a sex toy, some hated being called vapers or describing it as vaping, and there was a lot of talk about not using the words toot, toke, drag, etc. when describing the inhale. Others hated hearing tobacco cigarettes called analogs.
So I thought it might be fun to get some suggestions on what language members would like to see used.
What words would you all use to describe these things--
A tobacco cigarette
The act of inhaling nic juice
The people who inhale nic juice
The device used for inhaling nic juice
Nic juice
And anymore related terms you can come up with.
IMO, a tobacco cigarette already has a name, its called a cigarette.
inhaling nic juice is called vaporizing. vaping for short.
people who inhale nic juice. vaporer. vaper sounds exactly like vapor, and that is certainly not a person.
device used for inhaling nic juice: PV is fine but not my favorite. mod is okay. ecig is meh. i actually dont have a word that i like in this caregory. i usually just call it by the battery's name (ie Ego, Provari, etc)
nic juice is a decent name. i like all the names in this category, except smoke juice. smoke juice sounds like a bacon flavored beverage.
toot is totally fine with me. i actually like it. drag is ok, sounds a bit too much like combusting tho. draw, pull, and toot sound appropriate to me. toke is not. toke is specifically reserved for Cheech and Chong type of activities.

i think you are referring to a humidifier. and yes, i agree- it reminds me of that too.
I don't care about any of the terms except toot. That word is the worst thing to happen to this community.
It's not even a very good description.
The '(.........)' were censored in the definition. You can fill in the blanks.

A tobacco cigarette is a cigarette, for those english folks, a ... or ...... is normal slang for them, doesn't bother me. Negative connotations like "stinkies"/coffin nails/death sticks' etc, bother me, since it sounds 'holier than thou', or a tacit endorsement of the anti-smoking league propaganda. The thing I hate worse than non-smokers that cry about how bad 'smoking and smokers' are, is ex-smokers crying even louder.
I call it vaping since it's fairly accurate and makes it clear it is not 'smoking'. Taking a drag, hit or puff doesn't bother me, but toot and toke are innapropriate to me. A hit comes really close as innapropriate too.
I call em vapers, since I would pronounce vapor and vapers differently ;P It also seperates them from 'smokers' in a casually accurate way vs some other verbose term.
The device. Hard one since in conversations with non-vapers, jargon may not be the best thing. I'll use e-cig after I say "my pv" and continue after the recognition crosses thier face that it's 'one of those things'.
e-liquid to start, but typically 'juice'.

Other than that, words don't bother me, never have been much offended by curse words either, except that I am a strong proponent of our beautiful English language, and I feel most people simply do not use it to it's full advantage.
Listening to people speak, it seems to me that every day vernacular is somewhat lacking in *vocabulary* . Our language has such GREAT words, and they rarely get used. I had a Brit roommate who did use the language to it's fullest glory, and it was delightful listening to him "use words".

ROLF, a ...... is a type of meatball often served with peas or a derogatory term for a non-heterosexual male. Never cigarettes.

I'm not sure it's best for everyone. "Vapourizer" (vaporizer to you 'mericans) sounds more benign; possibly even healthy. "Cigarette", well... you know. The upside of "e-cigarette" is that it advertises a different kind of cigarette, not just something that's supposed to help you stop smoking them. I think I'd be more inclined to say PV or vapourizer if I'm explaining it to a nonsmoker, maybe e-cigarette if I'm preaching the benefits to a smoker. It's all about marketing, baby.
For general use my personal preference (so far) is PV, just 'cause it's easier.- Status
