Ha ha I walked into Sallys and had to lie and say I was picking this up for my daughter. LMAO

For me it was don't ask don't tell...

Walk in, I'm the only guy. Girl up front: "Can I help you?" Me: "Yup, I need some rayon cellucotton." Girl: "Ok, it's back here." and leads me to it. I look at the box and make sure it says rayon, grab it and head up front. Hand girl my card, sign, and out the door I go... I'm sure there were some WTH's in the store, but I'm used to it since I walk around with my mods/lightsabers/duck calls (yes I had someone ask if that was duck call)... This morning my wife asked if I had been to Sallys. She keeps a sharp eye on the bank account since we had a fraud attempt. I said yes, I needed something for vaping. She just walked away shaking her head...:2cool::vapor::vapor::2cool:

Shame you weren't carrying the big box into the house when she asked. I bet you that shake would have been more emphatic.

You know, i hear this over and over (60% it seems to work no problem, 40% have issues), but I just can't understand it. It's been idiot-proof for me and much easier to get the right amount than cotton. I wonder if it has to do with the size coil being wicked? What are your coil stats?

My coils range from 2 ohm 30ga to .5 ohm 24ga. I.D. range from 1.8mm for Protanks to 1/8th for a large dripper. Kayfuns are almost always 5/64ths with 7 or 8 wraps of 28ga (occasionally triple twisted 32ga). So I've got a bit of a range. :)

Its just a matter of me getting used to it. Even with cotton, I'd have periods where it was like I'd forgotten how and end up either under or over wicking a number of builds in a row. Sometimes the brain just doesn't cooperate.

The last three wicks I've done seem to be pretty good. I was certainly over wicking previously. I read the ENTIRE rayon thread (as of a couple days ago) and the concensus was to use about 1.5x the amount of rayon as you did cotton. For me its a lot closer to 1:1. I always though I went pretty light on the cotton, but maybe not. :p

At this point I'm very happy with it. Even If I don't get significantly better flavor/clouds/whatever, there are other noticeable improvements like the longevity of my wicks and the ability to be able use the ENTIRE capacity of a Protank (while running it at healthy wattage that satisfies me).

Thank you for the great info!~ We've had a rather lengthy ongoing conversation about wicking material. It seems like there are more options than ever. I'm going to try this stuff on your reccomendation - I will definitely report back with regard to findings. Now, I need more advice... how to I ensure all of my friends don't find out I was within 100 yards of Sally Beauty Supply? ;)

Youz guys crack me up. I'm in San Francisco. I can walk into Sally's and pick up a hair dye kit, lipstick, pantie hose and an eyelash curler along with a box of CC and the sales girl wouldn't even bat an eye! :p

Although I was sceptical about Cellucotton at first, now that I have become a wee bit more intimate with this stuff, the thing that amazes me most ( besides the lack of the burnt cotton taste when you run it dry) is the fact that it can really take the heat when cranking up the power in a Kayfun ( or others) without burning up as well.

That is my favorite thing about it especially in my Reo and Dibi, no horrid accidental dry hits of doom! :thumb:

So yeah I've been using it for a few days now and it is way better than cotton. I was having some problem with gurgling and leakage with my kanger coils. Turns out it wasn't my wicks. I found a link after googling. (can't remember it now) Anyways, what the guy did was take an additional chimney gasket. The silicon piece that slide over the chimney and sit over the coil. He placed it reversed on top of the original. It creates a better seal and stops the flooding instantly.

This.

I switched from cotton balls to CC last week. I love it. So much better wicking, no or little dry hits, and when you get one it doesn't kill you. Easier to use too.

I just got huge vapemail today, among which a box of KGD. I'm using it now to drip all these new juices I got in my Reo, mostly because it's really easier to wick than cotton or CC (can't beat that when you're rewicking every 5 minutes to change flavors lol).

Ease of use and consistency are awesome. It wicks really well, better than cotton balls.

But... Oh.My.Gosh. The dry hits are NASTY. Can't even describe them. Worse than cotton balls.

So I'll keep a pad in my box for dripping sessions, but the rest of the box is going to the bathroom (they look awesome for their intended purpose !). Back to CC I am for my regular vaping.

Ugh.
