rba crazy throat hit?!

Hey guys just got into rba n bought a couple different ones smok octopus and the octane and the trident clone....all three have terrible throat it flavor is good but I cant stand the throat hit I have asthma n cough all the time I am using 6mg 80 20 vg pg someone please help!!!

Are the coils lined up at the airholes ? Best way is to shine a strong led flashlight down the drip tip hole. Look through the air holes for the coils.

Make sure the air hole is positioned right in front of the wick and coil. If it's off center the throat hit will increase substantially.

I also found that to be a problem when I got my first RBA. I found getting an extra long drip tip helped to remedy it. It allowed the vapor to cool a bit more before entering.

More details of the build ... is it producing the vapor volume you expected?
You may need to lower nic.

My vote would be restricted airflow. Many of clones I have bought needed their airflow adjusted in order to make them less harsh.

Yes the airhoke is positioned right in front of the coil and vapor is ok I was expecting more....I dont wanna give up but my asthma cant take the th help plz lol

Coil height in relationship to the airhole also has a major effect :

Higher than the airhole = more TH.

Lower than the airhole. = less TH.

it could just.be your asthma, vg might be an irritant especially if you have airway constriction as opposed to bronchial congestion from mucus

I usually vape a 12mg in my clearomizers but on my rda, I go to a 6mg juice because of the throat hit. You might want to mix your juice with some 0mg

what's the resistance of your coils? the air hole in a stock octopus isn't nearly big enough for a sub-ohm coil. unless you drill it out, you probably should be using something like a single, 1.7-2 ohm coil on it.

not sure what the octane is, but for a trident clone (assuming the airholes are the same as a real trident), you probably want to be around a .6-.7 ohm dual coil (that's 2x 1.2-1.4 ohm coils) if you're not going to drill it out.
