Nice! ▲ . . . . and the C rating on your battery is . . . . . ?

All my RBAs are also set up at 0.7-0.8 ohms and sit atop mech mods. I use AW IMR 18350s, which have a C rating of 8. If you refer back to the graph that I posted earlier, the batteries can handle a torturous continuous 10 amps (pumping in the 29-33 watt range), which is a much much heavier load than what we put them through while vaping.

My bad. I misinterpreted your post. I know that the results from the tests that I posted were intentionally performed above the manufacturer's published ratings and far beyond what we would actually run them at while vaping. I only started pushing SLR coils after I saw these results because I wanted to be cautious. Don't get me wrong, we should always be safe, but these tests made me more confident that I wasn't pushing the limits.

I too have .7 ohm on mech mod setup with an AW IMR 18650 with no protection for the last couple weeks with no issue, no heat. I actually have used my Panasonic NCR18650 3400 while my AW is charging with no issue and the same result. I am tempted to get the IMR High Drain HYBRID CGR18650CH 3.7V 2250mAh Battery made by Panasonic to have some protection, but I dont seem to ever get close to the 10A. Or maybe I am just extremely lucky.

Even a .5ohm coil on a freshly charged AW IMR battery is pushing 8.4 amps... The battery is rated for a continuous 10amp load... Well within the limits... I myself can't see vaping @ 35+watts though... 17watts gives me a rush as it is... I could only image what 35watts would do!!!

On a side note, how the h3ll do you guys make the little ohm symbol in your posts???

I just started using low resistance rbas (.7 & .8ohm) and mech mods. So far just silica builds. I have genisis rba's, but only use them on vv/vw devices so far. I'm still learning so I don't wanna run into issues with shorts or batteries blowing up or even venting gas. I use a short stop in my mech mods to be safe... but really sure how much protection that gives me, but they where cheap so I picked up a couple.

But now that I got my ceramic wicks in the mail I feel a bit safer with running a genisis at .8 than I did with ss mesh. Might set one up this weekend.

I try to be a safe as I can, I got a lipo bag I use whenever I'm charging my IMR batteries.

Ceramic needs lots of wire to stone contact surface. The fatter wires are fine if your going to "weld" them onto the stone. Otherwise, dual parallel wraps of thinner gauge makes easy work of it.

Weld them? Not sure what you mean, but even to sure exactly how to go about the dual parallel.

Got any video links for me? I've got a few aga-t2's, ac9 clone, and a cobra clone in the mail.

sorry, no video small enough to post. Take 6" of 32 kanthal, fold in half with a toothpick in the armpit of the fold. Twist a couple times. This will make the eyelet that goes over the positive post. Now treat both legs/strands together (parallel) and wrap them down your stone, torch that wrap to normalize the shape. Pull it tighter, adjust it, torch it again. It should hold fast to the stone now (not adhere, just hold the shape). 5/6 wrap, maybe ~ 1Ω

edit: actually, maybe 4/5 wrap

So I'm playing with this machine screw wick thing some more, and I got a HARD SHORT! Crazy! Button got a little warm after firing the short for 3-4 minutes. So I placed the slightly warm mod down for a few minutes. WHEW! Close call!

What's the machine screw wick thing? I'm lost here, lol.

oh, its something we're fiddling with in the "wire rope for wick" thread. I was just talking about the battery safety thing. The ohm symbol comes up when you hold down the "alt" button and then type in 234, then release the alt button and it appears. There's a whole big giant alt-code list of symbols.

. . . . . . ↓ lookie ↓
