I have a freakshow that I absolutely love. Check it out and look at the freakshow mini also. vapordna is selling the mini for $30 I believe. The freakshow is excellent for flavor as well as clouds. The mini version will improve the flavor even more. Happy vaping

At this point, I'm thinking flavor > clouds, but middle of the road sounds the best, as long as it's not a total PITA to build on.

You have to decide what you will be happy with to start. All posts I have read are pretty much true, from the posters point of view.
I would forget about slight problems of ease of build though. I have gotten used to a little harder 3 post build when compared to a 2 post. It's not a show stopper.
The well size has not been mentioned, so you might want to look at that feature.
Flavor vs Clouds is the number one feature I would pay attention to. If cost of juice and frequency of filling is not an issue, I would go for the middle of the road RDA. You can not go real wrong by purchasing only one RDA, see if you like it, then additional RDA's later.
You should be able to get a decent clone for under $20. You need to shop.

Stumpy with 2 poles, is quite easy to build on. But I don't understand why I couldn't get the same favor as from a Derringer.
Vector is my recent mostly using atty. The favor is great and does not leak.

the tugboat does pretty good on flavor, doesn't have a lot of airflow, but quite large juice well. It's a3 post deck, but I'm currently vaping on a $5 tugboat clone from fast tech with a single coil, and I like it. I can get a good cloud out of it, but it gets pretty gnarly with much more than 20 watts, you gotta really sick to keep it cool
and it is quite roomy to build on, with no leakage unless I over fill and set it sideways

+1 for vector the auth is great price too at 66. Never had mine leak big posts made it easy build

The stumpy was easy to build on haven't tested the flavor yet

I just picked up another Derringer (clone by Tobeco i believe) from elev8 vape for 13 bucks shipped. Not saying its the perfect beginner RDA, but I do love the flavor from them, and they are good and cheap.
