I started vaping back in 08 but got repeated headaches. Tried again a few years later...still headaches so I put it down for a few more years. I started back about 2 years ago and have been headache free!

I had guessed possibly to updates in vape technology? Been using Aspire Nautilus and Cleito tanks of late and could not be more pleased until...

Due to all this FDA crap I concluded I better start learning to build my own coils in case they become no longer available. I purchased a simple Steamcrave Aromaizer.
Now the headaches are back with a single puff. That's all it takes.

I working with 26g kanthal coils. Micro wrapped on 1/16 drill bit. My ohms range from .5 to .8 depending on my wrap. Tried dual and singe coils but doesn't matter. Still the headaches.

I'm quite confident it's not the nicotine as I have no issue with my Cleito using same juice at almost any range. Obviously not the PG either.

I've washed my tank a few times as well.
I'm thinking it must have something to do with my coils wrapping technique, wicking or possibly issues with Kanthal wire itself? So frustrating.
Any advice out there?

Sounds like you are getting too much nicotine.

Are you Sub ohming?

Most people sub ohming have to cut the nic level back to 6 mg or less nic because of tge hotter coils.

I was at 12 mg with my nautilus but had to cut it to 6mg once I got the Cleito which I believe is a sub ohm coil as it registers at .43 ohms. Running the RDA on 6mg.
I really dont feel like it's the Nic. I only need a slight draw before the headache sets in. I can't help but wonder if it's something with the coil.
Just to rule that out I'll try some zero nic I have. But I'm skeptical...

Sorry your having problems. Here just my :2c: worth:

If everything is working fine in your other tanks at comparable ohms and you thoroughly cleaned the RDA, that only leaves the wire, wicking and tools as a possible culprits. Cheap and easy enough to pick up some wire and cotton of a different brand, wrap a coils with anything other then that drill bit, and give that a go. If that does it, ditch the old and keep the new. If not, I have no idea, but good luck!

Oh! And maybe check and make sure the airflow isn't plugged up on your RDA! :D

I'm wondering if I should try nickel wire perhaps. Thanks for the reply :)
Unless you can run in temp control don't use nickle wire! You can try SS in wattage mod, but not nickle.
Have you tried cleaning the wire you are using? Maybe cut off a couple of lengths then boil them?
What are you using for wicking material? Perhaps you have an allergy to that, or it's not clean? There are lots of different options out now for wicks as well.
So,
1) is the wire clean?
2) what is the wick and do you have any other allergies? Do you have something else to use for a wick? Maybe a new bag of cotton balls is all you need?
Sometimes it's the simple things we overlook.

I believe I may be making some progress here. I'm recoiling now at 12 wraps (double what I'd been reading) bringing me up to 1.1 ohms and it seems better. Maybe I've been scorching juice all along?
Flavor taste a little funny though. Hmmm .
Thanks for your reply
