Narda looks like a two sided veritas...kind of...
All this hype on these new products. They are all the same, mostly worse than their predessesors. Yea I know, call me Glum. Whatever.
It is what it is. Not everyone will like every atty. For me, this and the Snapdragon are the two best drippers I've bought in ages. They work for how I like to vape. Most of the newer drippers are all about giant post holes, lots of deck space for big coils and tons of airflow. I hate that type of dripper but lots of other people love them. I'm just excited because I feel like the NarDA is geared toward vapers like me. Stuff like the Kennedy or Phenotype is so not for me but that's what we see for the most part. I don't think there's anything wrong with you feeling the way you do. You know what you like and that's a good thing.

So I'm curious, what does everyone think of the hobo v3.1?

I love mine, and that's rare for me to say. I honestly hated it when I first played with it in my local vape shop, but I didn't vape it or build it that was just hands on first looks. I'm glad I dove in and bought it. It's one of the very few rda's I have that I use and have been using constantly. And I will not be getting rid of it either which is also rare for me. It's simple, but it's simple done right. The air flow IMO is perfect for me, not too big but not super small either. I hate these rda's coming out nowadays where there's more air holes than the stainless steel making up the whole rda.

Awesome! I'm looking for another atty that will allow me to do some crazy builds. All I really have now is my aeolus but I don't wanna have to strip out a build just because I wanna try something new. How big are the post holes? They look big, even bigger than a Kennedy (it's either that or the hobo v3.1). It also looks like it's meant more for flavor AND can house some pretty big coils.

Yeah I would say it's definitely a flavor atty for sure since the air flow isn't too crazy. Since you can move the one post it can house a pretty big coil, I don't have a Kennedy but I've looked at them and the post holes on the hobo are bigger, since you only have the 2 posts. I still wanna put a big single macro in it, I love the room and the single coil capabilities plus the semi open/restrictive air flow.

This is good info, thanks!

My only fear is that it will vape too much like a derringer. I have no idea why but I always hated the derringer. I still haven't sold mine yet but I have done well over 15 different builds in it and I never got the flavor people were talking about. Maybe it's because I was hooked on the veritas at the time and that thing is hard to beat.

Can you compare it to a derringer?

Sure I can! I'm pretty sure I still had my Derringer when I got the hobo.....till I sold it. I liked the Derringer but there's better out there in my opinion, just like what I'm about to say. I think the hobo kills the Derringer in every catagory. It hasn't leaked on me once, it's still small in size, you can fit a multitude of builds in it compared to the Derringer, it's easier and less messy to disassemble. I would buy 3 more hobos before I got another derringer. Honestly to me it's no contest at this point. Oh! And the best part......no spit back at all.

I still can't believe I never got this atty seeing how much I loved the Stumpy. After the Stumpy, I always wondered why it more often compared to the Derringer vs. this one. To me, although I have yet to build or vape on the Hobo v3.1, I felt (and still feel) that the Stumpy was more 'like' this than the Derringer [not that I want to rehash all of that]. If I had my choice between this and another Stumpy, I would go for the Hobo v3.1 because I feel the design is all that I love about the Stumpy but even better. I really feel like I should've gotten this one instead of so many others (but I've been wrong too many times to count). I just first gotta get rid of this AX1. Me and my rash decisions.

Edit: Psych, the AX1 is awesome. Just in case anyone here reading may see me my classified post. LOL. Hey mods...I am joking...kinda.

I think this will be next atty. After putting some staged fused claptons in my aeolus I really wanna get another flavor oriented atty that has the posts for it. And I've never owned a hobo before, just tried someone's v2 once. They seem like they're made really well too and a lot of people love them.

Had some time to do another build on my AX1 and I have say, this is the best build to date for this thing.

I did a dual 26g kanthal A1 12/13 wrap around 2mm and it came to somewhere in the 0.6 ohm range. I also used the normal 'post' holes instead of wrapping them around the post screws like I did the weird 3-2-3 dual coil I posted a few days ago. I put the coils as close as I could to the airflow this time as well.

I think everything together made a pretty noticeable difference; the draw is smoother and the flavor is even more intense now. I will definitely continue to use this atty because it seems every build gets a little better for me.

This atty has caused me to start studying fluid dynamics and a little bit aerodynamics in my free time so I can better understand what is going on inside these things. Let's just say that because that airflow passage is so long, goes from two 6mm x 1.5 mm cyclops slots (~16mm^3 total area) vs. 8 1mm airholes (~6.3mm^3 total area), the speed of the airflow is quite high and makes it really easy to get a turbulent draw (rough draw without proper airflow around the entire coil). By decreasing the ID of the coil and placing them as close to the air holes as possible, we reduce the possibility of the draw becoming turbulent.

Disclaimer: I'm a software and electrical guy, not a mechanical guy; I never studied this stuff in college so it's possible I'm not thoroughly understanding it yet. I did some reading, formulated some theories and performed an experiment and the results seem to back up my theory. Next time I may have to try something even smaller than 2mm....

Over my head, but if it feels right than it is right.

@kformeck

Gonna give your build a try now...if you can post pics in the meanwhile (or whenever), I'd appreciate it. Oh, and as I re-read your post, I am understanding it more and more. Good stuff, man.

There you go. It's not too easy to tell how close my coils are to the air holes but the distance is about a millimeter or less. That insulator is made of peek so I'm not too worried about melting. I've been firing this 0.6 ohm build at 34 watts which shouldn't get too hot anyway. The vape is still on the warm side though.

Here is mine done the same way (super close, but my coils are clear from that wall). I dunno, man, I maybe should've torched my coils outside of the deck because that PEEK looks a little discolored. I didn't take a pic of mine wick'd, but it looked pretty much just like yours. I will say it is definitely and improvement--like a massive improvement! This leads me to believe that many of the coils we see online are just that, coils on a deck. I tried several of the coils I saw online and they worked out terribly for this atty. This is actually the first real success I had with it. Thank you. Basically, if you can look down through the drip tip and are still able to mostly read "sectoronevapor" on the deck, then it seems like that is the type of coil best suited for this atty. I haven't built coils with an ID like this in a looooooooooooooong time.

Eidt: While this is a massive improvement over all the other coils I tried--and I tried more than I care to admit to--this atty is pretty far from what I expected and just about as far from how I want my vape to be. Not my kinda strokes, I guess.

I got my mgnt atty from shado vapor Wednesday. I'd compare it to an aeolus. (Kinda) same idea on airflow but miniscule difference. It's a 3 post with large open posts that are flared with grub screws. The adjustable air flow on the drip top cap (all one piece but swivels firmly to adjust) is a nice feature. It works well and stays put. The magnets that attach said top are strong but allow you to fling it 180 degrees out to easily juice. All in all I'm loving my second build in it, .5mm sweet spot ti wire, spaced 8 wraps on 2mm. Nice warm and tons o flavor.

Awesome. Let me know what you think after you get it and tinker a little. You'll most likely get yours before I even order mine.

Is like to add that I've had my hobo 3.1 for about 4 months. It's been in my hand since. Love everything about it

Oh and my snapdragon is with me as wel all the time. For different reasons

Would you say that the hobo comes close to the snapdragon in terms of flavor?
