Honestly if I didn't already have one nows the time to buy a hobo. I just saw on his site there 80$ I think. I paid close to 100$ for mine......wonderful vape shop mark up and tax. Normally I'd complain at that price since I've been spoiled BUT I love it and can't deny it. I use it all day everyday since I got it months ago. Since then nothing I've gotten has been able to dethrone it.....but then again nothing I've seen is all that great either. Except the NarDA, I really would love to compare the two side by side.

Would you say that the hobo comes close to the snapdragon in terms of flavor?

Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk

I mean the hobo has really really good flavor especially for the vapor it puts out and that's why I use it. Snapdragon obviously is better due to its low airflow and tight chamber but I use the hobo for bigger clouds and snapdragon for all day easy vaping.

The hobo also is so simple. Once u get taking the barrel off its easy. Never leaks and with the chuff u just drip into it nothing to pop off or on. Very nice

Awesome, I'm sold. I'm not necessarily gonna be buying it for clouds, but for flavor with crazy clapton builds. I need something that can hold some stage heating fused claptons outside of my aeolus.

Here is mine done the same way (super close, but my coils are clear from that wall). I dunno, man, I maybe should've torched my coils outside of the deck because that PEEK looks a little discolored. I didn't take a pic of mine wick'd, but it looked pretty much just like yours. I will say it is definitely and improvement--like a massive improvement! This leads me to believe that many of the coils we see online are just that, coils on a deck. I tried several of the coils I saw online and they worked out terribly for this atty. This is actually the first real success I had with it. Thank you. Basically, if you can look down through the drip tip and are still able to mostly read "sectoronevapor" on the deck, then it seems like that is the type of coil best suited for this atty. I haven't built coils with an ID like this in a looooooooooooooong time.

Eidt: While this is a massive improvement over all the other coils I tried--and I tried more than I care to admit to--this atty is pretty far from what I expected and just about as far from how I want my vape to be. Not my kinda strokes, I guess.
I'm glad that build worked out a little better for you. It's a bummer that your still not jiving with it the way that you were hoping because I'm loving this thing. Is it the draw that you're not liking?

Just out of curiosity, what's your all time favorite RDA?

My newest RDA to the collection, it does HUGE clouds and delivers some pretty good flavor. Plus I love the decks size and the juice wells, definitely a top contender in my book. The next one I get will likely be a Kennedy..... Can't let the wife see the price of that one.

You will love it without a doubt. I think it's hard not too. Plus so easy to clamp wires in and never breaks em. The screws tighten with a sharp firmness when there tight and never loosen.

Clap tons are particularly nice run through the center of the posts. Even 3.5id clap tons fit. And u just turn the barrel so the airflow goes in on an angle on each side.

And by clouds I don't mean like crazy huge clouds. Clouds for me are on my little 50 or 60 watt builds. The airflow wide open is nice and not too much which I hate. And throwing the regular top cap on really makes it warmer and ups the flavor of you want flavor builds. It's so versatile and easy going I could never get rid of it. And it's compact enough for me and looks awesome on everything. There making crazy small Attys now but after a point the ease of use is compromised.

I liked the hobo 2.1 still but I think anyone who buys one will for the most part really like one. And there are some who may not but most people who talk good or praise about them are ones who just bought one to try it. And you usually never see used ones for sale.

Oh and the price point is fantastic hobertos machining is top notch and he doesn't charge a premium. I got mine at vapordna with the chuff for 80 bucks.

But if you buy right from hobo customs website everyone has been getting 2 or three different colored chuff caps free with the order. If you join the Facebook page you'll see everyone who ordered posted up thanks for throwing in the 2 or 3 chuff caps. Great guy and I'll support that.

Yeah, I do think it is the draw...but your build tips helped out more than you know, well, actually you know exactly how well it helped! LOL.

My favorite RDA is a toss up between the Veritas and the Origen v2 (but I haven't used either of those atties in a long time--I just remember how much they did 'it' for me). I would have to give the nod to the Origen v2 for being able to have all boxes checked, including ease of build--something that the Veritas just didn't have. I am holding out hope that the NarDA will be on that list as it's got all the boxes checked too, and with the amount of airflow I've come to need.

Nice, I still use my veritas and origen v3 regularly; their both incredible RDAs. If you haven't tried the ology yet, I would highly recommend it. I've seen them go for around $55 nowadays which is insane because I paid $90 for mine. I ended up buying another because I loved it so much. I would say its draw is the closest I've ever had to an origen and its just as easy (if not easier) to build as the origen and flavor is on par as well. I would also say it doesn't leak as much as my origen does either.

Hoberto is the man. I recently in an act of dumbassness broke my center pin on my hobo v3.1, I DM'ed him a pic of the broken pin, and he replied within about 2 hours, told me to email him the picture with my mailing address, and same day as I sent the email, I get a notification that he sent out a replacement center pin. Great products, even better customer service. It wasn't the pin's fault that it broke, it was my fault too. I over tightened it after I was cleaning the atty.
image.jpeg
Even when my dumb self over tightened the pin (gold plating is super thick on the copper as you can see) the insulators and post held up and didn't even come close to breaking. Quality products, Quality service. A+ from Hoberto.

Side note, Anyone check out the Glacier v2 by VCM? It's a 23mm atty with a 2 post 4 post hole design like the velocity, with bigger post holes. Looks nice.

Oh, was that you vouched for it awhile back? I had always wanted it but didn't want to spend the money. There were a couple things that turned me off about that RDA for the money, but not at that price. I'll see if I can find one...

edit: that was fast! Found it for $55.00. Thanks for the heads-up!

Can someone explain this coil to me? I made one as a test tun, but I didn't install it in any deck. Just curious what are the benefits. Does each one vape like three smaller coils?

If I may ask, how did you get it to space between wraps? I've been trying to make a split (or whatever it's called) and can't get it to space worth a hoot.
Thanks

I went up the drill bit as if wrapping another wrap and then I placed my fingernail on the wire and reversed the wrap for however many times you need, then did it again (reversing it again will result in the original orientation). Hopefully that will make sense when you do it.

That was not a pic of my coil though, I found that online.

Yes that makes perfect sense. My bug comes when I do the reverse wrap. Instead of staying put it simply bends and makes a fugly mess instead of a gap. My big fingers (I wear xl size gloves) can't hold it in place. I might try some thinner wire as my 26 gauge might just be too stiff/thick. I just want to start with a double 4 wrap/gap/ 4wrap to start off with. I've tried holding the wire with vise grips too, just ain't working for me . I've watched others do it and it looks pretty straight forward :(

When I reverse it, I use a something like a blue screwdriver to help me reverse the wrap direction without that bend getting loose.

Have you tried just some needle nose pliers? That way you can hold the wire and the bit too. I should note though, that coil did not perform all that well for me with this RDA. Probably fine on another RDA, but not this one.

Don't know why needle nose vise grips didn't work but that suggestion did. The 8 wrap, 2.5mm id I was trying to make with 26awg Kanthol. I put it on my Mad Hatter to make it easier to refill with the cap on. Just drop it down the just outside of center of the chimney and it hits the area I the middle of the wick.
Thanks a ton to both you and kformeck.

On another note my wife and older daughter are out of town helping my oldest daughter with her new born son (my first grandchild) so I'm being Mr mom to my almost 8 year old daughter for 2 weeks. We've been pretty close since she was born and she does all kinds of house repairs, wood working, work on the vehicles, etc with me. Granted I don't let her do anything that could be dangerous but she's right there with everything.
Anyway I'm making a coil last night and she asks if she can do the next one. I cut the wire to length then gave her the coil wrapping tool and dad burn if hers didn't look better than mine. Tonight I was making a wick and she reminds me I'd said she could rewick my Mad Hatter next time I did it and in the photo in the post above that's her work with the wick.
I don't let her near my juices, don't let her use any of my "pipes" as she calls them though I do let her sniff the drip caps if she asks because she hates my cereal flavors in the room and wants proof I'm using my Serendipity (0 nicotine) in the house and not some of the stuff she doesn't like.
She's watched me fight the battle of smoking cessation and she is my reason for quitting.
Next I'm going to introduce her to the website that helps formulate the right coil ( Steam Engine) so she can learn math at the next level. We do stuff like that and make games of it whenever possible. She can read a tape measure as well as any carpenter and does her own marking of measurements when we make bird houses and stuff. It's really cool and I don't think teaching her building is going to turn her into anything nefarious by learning the math and the whole building thing.

Been on the Mr.Mom tip now for two and half years (but not so much now since she started Montessori). My daughter loves it when daddy is "building" because she loves taking all the drill bits out of the holder and putting them back--and she puts them all back in the right spot too! Thanks for your post, it just reminded me of all that is to come.
