oh, and could you please talk about the merits of the Cool adapter and proprietary Chuff cap too? I'm trying to avoid any culpability here....

I think your issues have more to do with catfish than with the stumpy, the second I received mine I cut the insulators fit drainage and I can say that it drains perfectly leaving the deck bone dryJust myhere, but I sold my Stumpy in less than 7 days from receiving it... Hated it... Worst atty I've purchased in the last 2yrs. I will explain a little...
As most of you know I vape bottom fed devices and only use RxW for my wicking... The reasons for these are I loved the flavor I got from dripping but just never liked carrying a bottle of juice around and the RxW, IMO, is the best all around lowest maintenance wicking on the market. The average wick lasts me 4-6 months on average.
With all that being said I found the Stumpy, (BF by Tom at Catfish), drained very poorly and always had excess liquid inside the atty after squonking that the RxW wouldn't absorb and if the atty was tipped in any way shape or form....it leaked... No matter what I tried with it....it leaked.... I tried some KGD that I had laying around here....same problem...leaked... I can't say enough how I much I hate leaking. This was only the 1st problem with it though. I tried 4 different coil configurations in it and they all were very subpar vapes. I tried 2 different single coil setups and 2 different dual coil setups and none of them made the grade. If those 2 reasons weren't enough, there was the....getting the top cap off the base problem as well. No matter what I tried I always felt as though I was going to rip the 510 out of whatever device I had the atty on. I think EM did an outstanding job on the atty itself as it was a very nicely manufactured piece, but I lost patience with it very quickly and is now a thing of the past...
If you are a fan of the Derringer and want an atty that is similar with a better vape, I would suggest the Mako Shorty from Beyond Vape. Mine is in daily rotation on my Reo Grand. The only con I have found is the top cap is a little snug, but not in the same ballpark as Stumpy snug though...
Actually, I don't have any problems with Catfish anymore because I don't deal with him... Usually everything I use now, I BF myself. I did purchase the Stumpy from the classies though and do know it came from Tom. It just didn't want to drain completely. No matter what I tried and to be honest the vape I got from it was as I said, subpar, and wasn't worth my time to try and correct. Just didn't do it for me was all...I think your issues have more to do with catfish than with the stumpy, the second I received mine I cut the insulators fit drainage and I can say that it drains perfectly leaving the deck bone dry

with rdas more than anything else there is no atty perfect for everyone, I've seen here that I can love the same rda's as someone but hate one that he considers a great oneActually, I don't have any problems with Catfish anymore because I don't deal with him... Those are 2 that I passed on because I knew they wouldn't be for me. I have also passed on the Low Pro for the reason it would be impossible for me to wick it with RxW... I just thought the Stumpy was a no brainer being 2 post and drain hole in the middle of the atty. For some reason it just wouldn't drain completely. Was just let down by the whole experience...I have a few rants on this thread too, specially the velocity and the bad all mighty plumeveil
Merits? None really. A lot of money to 'complete' the look (AFAIC). It comes with a cool adapter, the other ones are just different material (delrin and latex, I think it was?). I do feel that the delrin tip was a godsend though. Expensive, yes, but I was more than happy to have mine with it and if I got another I would still get another one of those delrin tips.
This is of course my opinion, but if he were to be comparing the 2 which I assume he is since those are the 2 in question you would want to build the same, wick the same and have the same juice. IF comparing across the board for the 2, it makes sense. I'm not gonna throw a completely different build on a derringer then have a different build on the stumpy, you'd have 2 completely different outcomes and you wouldn't be able to really compare the 2 at all. I sold my derringer and always wanted a stumpy only cause it was small and it was a 2 post, other then that 2 post though your comparing damn near the same rda. However from what I've seen 2 post rda's really shine with that in between coil, it's by far my favorite. I would try that as was mentioned above.

We are in complete agreement about the Marquis right down to wanting to try it again but then realizing that, for me, there's no point.I know totally what it feels like to be let down by an RDA though. I spent a good chunk of change on the Marquis and could not understand why I didn't get the vape everyone else did. It sill boggles my mind, so much so that I almost want to try it again...but I know better. It's kinda funny how with these little devices we can all have our own experiences diverge, even when we are in sync with others.

Yes, I believe that would be a good time. These are times when I almost wish we could have a vape bar (with a *real* bar included, LOL) so we could all sit down together and build and chat and argue and laugh..and tie one on. That would be awesome. Oh how it would be great to have a real vape bar!
I've actually never tried one. Came close to ordering one many times but for some reason never pulled the trigger. I don't even know if you can find an authentic at this point unless you found someone selling one used.Did you like the Veritas? I thought the Marquis was going to be my answer for having an-easy-to-build Veritas like vape, but for me it was *just* easy to build.

@Mr.Mann - you still using the Immortalizer Plus?
