probably gonna see what the interest is, make a few tweaks to the cad model and then possibly start a new list of peeps. the color of the boxes can be white, black, red, and this wacky "grey" that sorta has a purple hue. they have a rough feeling finish making the grip seem better. they also seem more durable than the other boxes with a little more give and obviously cuz its one piece (not including the doors).

thoughts?

J! Looks sick!! Any advances on the magnets? I want one, naturally. And what is the final product going to be made out of? Is it going to be resin like you were thinking about before?

hey folks, the material is a nylon resin for now until i can find another way. they print these on a 3d printer directly from the cad model, no casting, molding or machining is involved in the process. unfotunately, the insignia will not be interchangeable and i wish they made a camo color choice, that would be so nice. there's really no way to just provide a new box without purchasing the entire mod since it has slight variations from the original.

the upside and downside of these 3d printed boxes is exactly that...each one is individually printed from the cad file. it means a few things that i thought id mention:

1. each one will be an exact copy of the original 3d file, super precise, not a cast of a mold that would have a degenerative effect on the process.
2. theres no bulk rate for making these, the price is pretty steep for each one (50 bucks or so)
3. im surprised at the durability so far...theres a nice bit of spring in the nylon resin that makes me believe it wont chip or break if dropped...more likely get dinged. altho, i have yet to test that part...wanna let that happen naturally. (not in any rush to ding her up)

im really enjoying it so far, obviously not that different from the original in terms of function, but form seems great. i made little "buckets" for the magnets so all i do is put a drop or 2 of super glue and drop them in, they're flush against the material and it looks to secure them much much better.

the perfectly shaped juice door hole is really nice.

the catch cup is part of the body and has a slightly bigger overflow area.

im absolutely loving the logo embossed on the front, i was vaping in the dark and noticed the logo illuminates:

anyway, just wanted to share what i have so far.

thanks for all the PM's and interest, really appreciate the kind words and thoughts from everyone. i'll be making some tweaks to the cad model and will make a first small run of black boxes. not sure what the price will be but i'll fill you in as i know more.

love ya buddy, thanks for that. also wanted to let you know that i currently have no plans for an 18650/18500 battery version but ill definitely keep it in the back of my mind since i can just change the size of the cad model and print a few bigger ones.

This is still my daily driver for mods. I use my newly acquired GGTS when I'm at home but 90% of the time I use the VV.
