Funny.. If I don't vape then I get much better. I kind of knew it wasn't worth trying to discuss a serious health issue here. Many seem to blindly accept that any level of inhaling PG/vg and chemical flavorings must be OK but there gave been NO clinical trials or even animal testing on powerful, modern vaping equipment. We are the guinea pigs and no amount of blind faith will change that. I think there are some common flavorings, particularly, out there that can have an adverse effect on some people when used normally. If the vaping world is ever going to be taken seriously then surely we have to accept that inhaling ANYTHING in quantity other than air is not a natural act and just MIGHT have health consequences. An open discussion of the health benefits AND possible negative health impacts is totally necessary if we are to further improve the quality of our vaping as time goes by and to avoid potentially harmful ingredients. When Diacetyl (found in some custard flavors used in ecigs) was shown to DESTROY lungs, some ...... were still going online and trying to say it was safe.. Probably because it was their favorite flavor and they just didn't want to accept that there was a danger. With real openness and nonvolatile discussion this could have been avoided. Many vapers are so scared of giving vaping a bad name that they'd rather not even think about potential health issues, let alone discuss them openly.

OK, you've convinced me. In just over two hours, you've gone from creating a thread where your kidney pain was "unbearable," according to the thread title to not having kidney pain, and it's all because you haven't vaped in two hours. Based on this scientific proof, I'm going to quit vaping and go back to smoking a pack of cigs a day. Congratulations! You've made a convert!

By the way, the least you could do is to tell us which mystery ingredient you blame for this.

I can tell you that I had some doctors/urologists who sucked at detecting kidney stones. I had a few when I was pretty young, 13 years old. They missed a huge one, and the sensations come and go.

I'm obviously not a doctor, but I can tell you that kidney stones are quite compatible with everything you've said. If that is the case, I'm (again not a doctor) 99% sure they would have nothing to do with vaping.

ETA: unless it is a rather large stone that's lodged, they're also pretty worthless at doing anything about them, for the record :)

Thanks. I do appreciate the advice but minor kidney pain is not that much of a worry, especially when six hours off of the new flavor has completely removed the problem. It is my opinion that vaping generally does put a bit of strain on the body, not as much as smoking but it does increase breathing resistance in the lung for a while (this is easily shown with a peak flow meter) until your lungs get rid of the PG/VG and can work normally again. Yes . . we all know smoking is much worse than vaping but the long-term effect of vaping is completely unknown. Nobody really linked smoking definitively to cancer until the 1960s. Was tobacco safe before that?

I thought that we were not allowed to mention suppliers but frankly I am appalled with this. The flavoring that I believe caused this is Mad Fruit Flavor from FlavorArt. There is no batch number but the expiry date is 09/2015. All I've done is point our that there just MAY be a problem with this flavor or with really heavy vaping generally, perhaps with older people (I am 45) more than with young. What is not nice is more or less being called a liar because I dare to suggest that there might be some health consequences for some people. I give up.

don't give up, it would be silly to not investigate all possibilities. Good luck I hope you find out what is the cause and then please report back to let us know.

You come on here and say that you have pain in your kidneys and that it is unbearable. We advise you to see a doctor as soon as possible because we are not medical professionals and it could be something serious. Until you know for sure that what the actual cause is, now is not the time for discussion.

Now is the time for you to speak to someone who is medically trained.

Except that wasn't your approach.

1) I have been vaping xxx and feeling some discomfort. I wonder if it might be the ingredients. (Discussion)

2) Kidney pain unbearable (Apparent cry for help)

Compare and contrast.
