Talking about Vodka - and I don't mean to re-use by imbibing it (or does my reputation preceed me? Hmm still have a little galliano left over, and some OJ...)
I am not sure what other non-food standard alcohol options I have in Oz, so I have tried soaking cartos in vodka overnight to dissolve/loosen any gunk or goo (don't you love my tech talk?) before soaking them/running them in water.
My past attempts at cleaning & drying cartos have been a sad saga of frustration & failure, however I will be trying again very soon. I use strong, menthol flavours, and notice that the vodka really smells afterwards. Can you re-use the alcohol for multiple batches of cartos, or is it better to use a fresh soak each time? Although using cheap vodka, it could work out quite expensive over time.
