Description doesn't give to much details. Do you know if this will hold up to a 1/8 drill bit? I won't be going that big, but others may.

It should- the description says up to 0.125", which equates to 1/8".

To update, I cleaned/dry burned tonite, aadding a quick flame dance with grill lighter at the end... It brought the wick back to a pristine white state, and it seems to be wicking a tad bit faster/better. Hence, I have a great reason to buy a torch/butane lighter :D

I very much agree with your assessment... I made the same observation. After the first dry burn/cleaning, this stuff speeds up. I'm not certain I care enough to take a torch to it, but it improves a lot after the first cleaning.

I bought this one. It's a little larger than I thought it would be but works fine. The flaired out handle end makes it easy to grip and turn for tension wrapping. Just my 2cents! :)

Forgot to add, I simply took a 16g luer and broke off the plastic piece then inserted it into the pin vise, worked great as I am used to making all my coils with that size mandrel. The rubber on the pin vise is great for grip and the flair handle lets you brace it against your thumb heal pad for steady hold.

Thanks for confirmation. I thought it would hold a 1/8, but wasn't sure. Looks like Amazon used rounded decimal in the description, and I'm so used to millimeter talk.

Going to try the 2mm RxW again since I've learned about a more careful dry burn process. I over did it the last go around. Lit it up like a Christmas tree. I'm wanting to try the 3mm RxW as well, but oh well, ...maybe next year.

Rudy, do you know if this holds a 1/8 bit? Description says up to 3.0 millimeter. But 1/8 is about 3.175mm - a tad bit bigger. Just wondering if 1/8 will go in the collets.

I really couldn't tell you, don't have it in front of me right now and I was focused on how small of a bit it would hold vs. how large as I use small single coil with 2mm RxW @ 1ohm.
If no one chimes in here I can check it out when I get home.

I feel I have more control over the coil with the pin vice and it's also handy for mounting the coil. SxD was using the Starrett pin vice in his video. I've got other Starrett tools and they are good precision quality tools, so I've got one ordered. The cheep pin vice I have now only has three jaws and with small pins the 4 jaws of the Starrett will be better. They make several size ranges, this one seems to have a good range for our use without needing to change collets.

Thanks for the link! Ordered one.

Work played some silly party game on Tues - 'white elephant'? maybe. Anyway, it involved the stealing of presents and so on.

I sat there with some bland looking 2015 Texas calendar i'd unwrapped that nobody wanted and i got to keep it; the point being a $50 Sears card inside it, which my natural poker face never hinted at.

A pin vice that goes up to 1/8" will suffice, since even my 3mm RxW gets wrapped on a 7/64" drill (and that's 0.11mm). I do have some 5mm silica candlewick i wrap duals on, but i like ugly coils on that and not the RxW.

Incidentally as a special Xmas day treat, i left myself a nice clean atty to rebuild and so i'll be using new RxW to fill the coils: the last wicks lasted me about 3 months, but they were showing signs of abuse and wear and since my daily vape is about 0.19Ω, i'm astonished they lasted so long.

1/8" is way too big for 3mm RxW. Most are starting to use 3/32" as the vape is quite a bit better in the tighter coil.

I thought Jeremy (creator of RxW) suggested 1/8 for 3mm in his video. I'm glad no one is using that size. I definitely wouldn't want too. That's good news for my brother who like a 3/32 coil.

MachTechVpr who's done a ton of research about the ceramic wick material says the deflection of the fibers helps this wick better. The good contact with the coil insures the wick can feed it without getting dry burns. Too loose and you'll end up with a lot of dry burns.

the left side of the coil on right has wraps that are a little to loose, notice it's not been cooking at the same rate as the right side. I got that side messed up wrestling it into a Nuppin the first time I coiled one.
