Just another example of the beauty of this wick.

Dirty coil and wick.

Really liking the 3mm RxW in a 3/32 drill bit @ 1.2ohm with 28g. In fact, it seems a lot more durable than 2mm. Can get many more solid vapes as well before squonking, and the flavor and taste are a little deeper because it's a thicker wick. I'm liking it a lot better. Will see how long I can keep it working.

Congrats on dialing in a great vape.

Don't mess with it other than to dry burn and it should last months.

Was able to change the Coil (3/32 : 28g : 6/7 wraps) and then REUSE the 3mm RxW. It was actually easier reinserting it being in used condition than when it was brand new. Could have been because I carefully removed the RxW from used coil, and slightly torched it clean, and then added a few drops of spring water to wet it once it cooled. I was able to squash it close together while rolling it with my fingers. This made it less dense and skinner - thus making it easier to stick through the new coil. Once in, I pulse dry-burned it 'till it was all white and new looking.

**I was never able to reuse any 2mm RxW pieces at all. It always broke in half when trying to reinsert it in a new coil. **

Bottom line, 3mm RxW is a lot more durable than 2mm RxW because it's thicker. The bigger density allows more dry-burning to clean coils; holds more juice which reduces dry hits; and I've actually have noticed a slight DECREASE is juice usage. I guess that's because it's more efficient at absorbing juice from inside the walls, and deck of the atomizer.

I really recommend using RxW 3mm BEFORE trying 2mm. I'll be ordering about 3 ft of the 3mm for sure. It's working a lot better than 2mm ever thought about. :thumb:

Note: I'm using Shadow from HHV @ 50/50 mix. Awesome Tobacco undertone with a top Vanilla note.

Excellent Ed. Gooid point on the ease of compressing and managing it. I pulse then soak mine to dispel some of the flavor artifacts from cooking off sentiments. But light torching works fine. And that's all you need.

I've never scorched through the 2mm. Come close though so I know it can happen. As I've mentioned before, if you don't purge deposits by rinsing or pulsing (or both) they can harden within the weaves at the surface into what I've called stony deposits. These can become extremely hot but interrupt conveyance of the heat to the wick interior. I can see where that kind of heat accumulation could damage the surface of the weave and possibly delaminate it. Like I said, I've seen indications of that in both 2mm and 3mm. We really don't want to see any wick get that hot so cleaning is very, very important. And if we do the material performs superbly.

As I'm sure you've seen the flavor just gets better and better with use of this wick, it just continues to break in. Which just encouraged me to use it more and more, in more and more devices. So I've got a over two dozen rigs set up most of them with NexT right now. It's a beautiful thing ed…to be able to enjoy that kind of variety. And time makes all the difference in the world getting there which is what ceramic wick allows us.

The slim 2mm has a slightly different tighter weave ed, you're right. It's not as permeable as the 3mm and in that sense the latter is probably best for bottom feeders. I would think in your application that the lower side of wind Ø (≦ 2.5mm) would give you better performance. I guess I'll just have to keep suffering Russ' needling 'cause I'm just not ready to go BF just yet. But I'd tend to agree with ya on try 3mm first.

Good luck.

:)

So, I am getting low on 3mm RxW and have a ton of 2mm RxW.

What coil diameter would I want to use for 2 wicks of 2mm RxW per coil, so it'd really be like 4mm RxW...

It doesn't work that way... At least that is what Jeremy said and I can kinda see his point because it's hollow...

2mm, 1/16, 7 wraps, 28 gauge on my RM2. It's ugly. lol

Your setup is actually backwards. You want the coil to the left more and the tail towards the feed hole... You've got too much wick hanging out the opposite side from the feed hole.

What do you mean "coil to the left"? I actually thought it was too far to the left.

I think most importantly for flavor and vapor production align the coil to the air hole, your placement might be right.

To much wick of any kind against the sides of the top lead to leaking. so shorten the overall length.

Don't let the wick block the hole. Which ever side has more room, angle the coil down in that direction have the wick just touch the deck.

I've done test after test between spaced and touching coils when doing 1/16 coils and RxW, I prefer the way spaced vapes much better.

YMMV of course but is it worth the effort to dial in your vape using this wick as once you do it lasts for months.

Yeah, that looks better. Now as FB was pointing out, you need to check out how your coil lines up to your air hole. It should be in the center of the air supply. Center line of the air hole to center line of the coil with the coil close to the edge of the atty in front of the air supply...
