I run both the 2mm and 3mm in different but similar setup's and they yield very similar results. The 2mm setup is 1/16" 24g dual tensioned micro coils @ .24Ω and the 3mm setup is 2.5mm 24g dual tensioned coils @.33Ω... I would say I get on average of 3-4 5 second hits off both sizes before I have to squonk again. Sometimes it is more, sometimes less depending on how long I squonked, inside or outside and varying temps. I have found that the RxW works more efficient with the tensioned coils than looser wrapped ones or ugly coils. This is for me and I know others have had luck with others, just my experience so far in the past 1+ yrs using it.
I would also add that if you are wrapping a 1/16" coil and you are able to just slide the RxW into the coil, you are doing something wrong and are going to yield poor results. It was designed to screw the wick into the coil, much like a bolt into a nut, for optimal results. If your RxW doesn't do this I would suggest re-wrapping your coils so that they do work this way or you will never get the best results from it and feel as though you have wasted your money. I also have never had to run anything through the center of the wicking to get it to wick any better than it already does. Been there, no difference in performance... Never had to torch, wet, boil, or do anything special for it to wick and vape. Just cut the end on an angle and screw it into the coil, trim it, squonk, and vape it...
I think sometimes it is just me, but my RxW in my setups wick faster than anything I have used, including KGD. They just seem to wick exceptionally fast. As soon as the liquid touches the wick I can watch it rapidly absorb throughout the entire wick. With cotton or KGD I always had to drip liquid directly onto the coil and wick to get it started otherwise it took up to a minute to fully saturate. My RxW fully saturates in less than 10 seconds on the first squonk, maybe less...
As I mentioned in the former thread I had a problem with the 3mm RxW working when I was wrapping my coils by hand just using a drill bit or mandrel. Since using the coil gizmo that has been solved by using tension during my coil winding. The problem was with the other methods the wraps just weren't tight enough and always sprung out. This was even after torching the wire to relieve the springiness of the wire. Since getting the coil gizmo mandrels I don't even use my torch anymore. Just wrap the coils, install them, pulse and cue, then wick and vape. It is so much simpler now...
