And how in the world do you get a vtc mini mod+tank from China for $2? LOL

I got 12 of those $2 mod kits in Oct. last year, for myself and several friends! They were on Clearance at Heaven Gifts. S/H cost had to be paid though, for the entire order, including 12 other things I ordered as well. However, when I divided the total S/H cost, by the total number of items I ordered, it came to about $4-5 S/H per item. So it was still a really great deal @ $2 for the kit + $4-5 S/H for it!

Another vote for Jac. Couldn't really afford it either, but that sale last month with a coupon code made it irresistible.... :)

Now googling feverishly for a coupon code.
Will order either way, but a good coupon code makes for good justification. ;)

Another excellent little device for a Zenith is the YiHi SX Mini SL Class.

Parked next to my Kroma-kit.
That little dude is actually made for a 21700 cell but comes with an 18650 adapter.
It's a bit of an apples/oranges thing vs the JAC Sandstorm though. I ordered the Sandstorm to replace a faulty Sigelei E1 with something a lot more bomb proof.

Think of the SX Mini as a smaller version of the Aegis Legend 100 in terms of hand hold and battery install. Although not built for combat like the Legend, the SX does exude confidence when held and has a 1 year warranty.

The joystick? Eh, that's a bit of a love/hate thing. Way better than tiny buttons until it's tiny shift pattern is encountered and trying to shift left keeps shifting down or up. Being a watts guy, it don't bother me none. Yet the temp geeks might want to give it flying lessons at times.

All in all it's easy to like device with the latest, greatest tiny little brain. No clock, no bluetooth, no fidget spinners. Just a very bright little screen that can opt as a flashlight at 2am with the screen set on 6 brightness and set to stay on a while. I have mine on 2 and see it fine in sunlight. And have it set at the minimum stay-on of 10 seconds.
The manual doesn't tell you but YiHi online does, how to make it remember your favorite display etc when you remove the battery. If I recall correct you push the fire button to set it.
It can be charged in device but YiHi reccomends charging it outside for best battery longevity.

It's reccomended really strong batteries are used. 35 amp capable. The JAC says 20 amp ok. The Yihi has a screw on cap over the cell. JAC a magnetic cover. Yihi a joystick toggler. JAC a cool one piece button/toggle. The YiHi is more round and a bit more girth. Combined with a leatherette casing cover it provides a nice grip. The JAC has a nice shape but all metal surface.

For the money the JAC is likely a wise choice. But if you have a the extra coin the YiHi is a mighty sweet device.

I'll comment further on the JAC when it arrives.

The JAC Vapour arrived.
First impressions were positive. A nice, weighty device that if dropped would probably land bottom first instead of tank first. Real strong magnets hold the tight fitting door nice n snug. Feels good in the hand. Mrs. States fell in love with it, which means #2 is on the way.

I received the brush metal 25mm version, which is pretty much a 22mm version with a little mushroom head added at the top and a sort of shoe added to the bottom to prevent overhang. But with a 25mm tank it kinda looks like a pencil with one of those slide on erasers. A 23mm tank really looks best in my view.

It came with a battery. Don't know if it's a limited thing, but right now the sandstorm comes with a JAC Vapour wrapped 20 amp battery. The battery was at 3.53 volts so I stuck it on a charger and slid in an efest battery.

At initial contact it's set up for watts. You can do temp control easy enough with some guidance from the very nice, well spoken (100% English) manual. It had some basic stuff up front, then some how to then all those warnings. Nice touch imo.

To do the fancy stuff you need a computer to do up to 5 profiles. I just turned it down to 16 watts and screwed on a Nautilis X tank and took a few predictable and instant fire drags. No lag, no unpredictable temperature or production from my Nauti X.

Two things I'd prefer is adjustable screen times and a prompt that says it's off. Click 5 times and you see "click 5 x to lock" then your settings return. Only way to know it's off is to push the fire button and not hear the sizzle. Click 5 more times and again you see "click 5 x to lock" but now it sizzles.
The screen stays on for about 60 seconds then dims to nothing in about 3. Brightness is just right for daytime use and stealth is available. Maybe using the proprietary software can change that?

I'll use it this weekend and add more comments. But will say, if you want a svelte, sturdy device this is a goody. Kinda old school looking (think KangerTech sub box mini) with a new school attitude. I don't know that looks-wise the Sandstorm and 25mm Zenith would go well together. Function-wise it will be great. And Zenith are now available in 22mm.

I'll do an apples to oranges with the SX as well. Not a scientific term rich compare but a basic user approach. It's not really apples versus oranges with these but more of a granny smith versus red delicious in there are virtues to both such as a single button that doubles as a +/- easily versus a joystick. Or a fire button that requires a firm push versus a really sensitive one or perhaps a magnetic battery door versus a screw on cap type.

You can adjust screen time behavior through E-Scribe.
Might want to update the firmware while you are there also.

    Thanks PO.

I never liked having to tweak my mp3 ringtones to iTunes compatible for use on my phone and I don't think I want to use a similar approach to adjust my screen. I'll just live with it for now. Learning new software to adjust the time my screen stays on isn't on my top 5 things to do in my little spare time.
But I do appreciate the tip.

That's where I like the SX Mini better. Lots of goodies you can do on the Windows machine but for basic wattage users all the tweaks can be done on the device. I keep mine in "novice" mode which might be better described as "basic" mode for those of us that can easily do all the fluff and stuff but just don't want to.
I also like the ergonomics of the Mini where it tapers at the top and bottom on the front so my pinkie grips underneath instead of just being in the way or feeling like it wants too be dainty and poke out like I'm drinking Earl Gray or something and my pointer finger rests naturally on the angled top when I pick it up and easily moves down to the fire button when I'm ready to vape and in between hits.
Photo is SX Mini with Baby Prince on top.

So Saturday I kept swapping between the SX and the Sandstorm. I kept navigating back to the SX. Figuring it was due to familiarity today I'm using just the Sandstorm.

I'm really liking it's weighty feel with such a small footprint. I downloaded the e-scribe and will hopefully get time to play around with it this week. No curves or anything fancy. Just to get a feel for actually altering the programming of a battery box. Maybe if it lets me I'll dial down the brightness some and definitely reduce the on time.

For the money, the Sandstorm is a bargain when compared to many of those 'popular' brand devices. And you are helping a small, up n coming company gain some traction. So when your ABC model BR549 goes down and you toss the dice whether you get good service from Asia.... with a JAC chances are about even the owner may be the one answering the phone. Actual voices from actual people.

Support the little guy when you can.
Now if big brother said "pick one" between the Sandstorm or SX, I'd probably go with the SX. But if someone were to swipe my SX, I'd be ok with having a Sandstorm. It's a real nice device. Better fuel mileage, less power hungry, smaller to pack, just as rugged as an SX, and is easy on the eyes. Matter of fact I can't wait to show off my new brushed metal toodle puffer to the burely crane operator puffing on car battery sized mods with gold fish bowl sized tanks on top at the construction site.
