Really Really Harsh Hits

So I've started to dabble into sub ohms, I got a 30amp sony vtc4 battery a k100 mech and a trident rda. For the most part I get some pretty good hits off of it but every now and again I get some really really harsh hits like it's burning my wicks even though ive juiced me up decently to the point it's overflowing out the air hole. I'll replace the wick when I get two or three harsh hits and it'll be good for about the next day when I start getting harsh hits again. I've got a .3 ohm single coil setup using cotton ball wick, going to try adjusting the coil a bit more and seeing if that will help, any suggestions? Or am I just not changing the wicks enough?

What strength juice do you use? Maybe a weaker nic level. If you're not on the largest airflow setting, try increasing the airhole size. Make sure your wick is not blocking the airflow. Decrease the amount of your cotton cloud and drip more often as an almost dry hit can be a harsh one, too.

Honestly, its probably not the greatest idea to go straight to 0.3 ohms if you've never ventured below 1 ohm before. Try a build around 0.6 ohms or so and see if it works better for you.

I use a 6mg nic strength and use the biggest air hole available on the Trident, when I started sub ohming I did start with .6 and .5 coils I just recently started at .3 maybe I'll bump it back up, would adjusting the height of the coil off the deck help?

What is the vg/pg ratio of your juice? It sounds like a wicking problem. Your wick may not be properly saturated which would result in a dry hit, and with thicker juices its more common. You might want to try less wick or a different coil/wick build.

Actually if you can figure out what is going wrong, you need to move back up in resistance until you understand more about sub ohm vaping.

Not trying to be harsh(pun intended) but it is the most logical action.
