I really starting to regret my decision to buy a Reo first. I don't know what a flooded carto is. I don't know what a burned carto is. I don't even know what vaping is suppose to taste like. All I do know is I don't know what the **** I'm doing and must not be anyhere near finding out. It has been 46 hours since last analog so that part is working. I'm just enduring whatever at this point but sure not that flavorful moment everyone else says they have.

Dunno if it helps, but remember that the REO does have a bit of a learning curve. The vapour is supposed to taste delicious/wonderful. Burning cartos/atties are pretty easy to identify. Flooded ones simply don't produce enough vapour. Depending on the attie, a flooded one can even spit at you. Not so much with cartos, though - because of all the poly-fill, they're tougher to flood. FWIW, it took me almost 100 hours after I got my first REO to get the squonking routine to work without flooding anything.

HTH...

Hi Cynthia :)
Take a deep breath. I posted this in the other thread....

No, you're not clueless...just going through a big learning curve. This is your first device, right? So not only are you learning about they way this works, but you're learning about vaping in general. There are so many things that play an important part. For you, finding your juice preference is going to be your biggest challenge, especially because what one person likes, another won't. Even finding what nic level to use to satisfy your cravings can be a challenge, never mind the flavor.

And most importantly, while you transition to vaping....your taste buds will change over time. So a juice you like today, may taste horrible next month...and vise versa. You got a lot on your plate, Cynthia....just take this one day at a time.

On top of all that...keep in mind too, that even though you're replacing nicotene...there are other addictive chemicals in cigs that will still cause withdrawals and extreme anxiety. Making this whole process that much more difficult to work through. We'll help you out. We just need to take this one step at a time.

I'm about ready to start just using the cardo and refilling it everytime it is out because that is only time it taste even remotely good. I'm sure my issue is flooding because Saturday night I was told to keep vaping if it was flooded. Finally 2 hours later the good vapors came.

As stated above, one step and day at a time. In getting started with vaping, it can be a challenge with a lot of anxiety. Most of us when we start, spend some time finding out what it is we want and like, and how things work, and what works best for us. There's finding what juice we like, which carto or atty works best for us and the pv we have chosen. All this can take a while, so try and relax, and come here to let off steam and get help. I know myself, when I started a year ago, just when I thought I had it figured out, something would change, then it was off to try something else. It will finally all come together, it can take longer for some than others. Good luck, and as long as you are off the analogs, you are ahead of the game. And remember there are pleanty of good people right here to help. :)

honestly i believe if the Reo is your first choice you've chosen one of the simplest startup devices. If you've flooded your Carto you can blow it out simply hold a tissue on the threads and blow some of the juice out from the other end tape and see how it is. I do hope you can find your sweetspot it does take some trial and error but keep at it it is so worth it to be off the analogs. keep asking questions it will come to you :)

Is Madvapes known for crappy flavoring? Is that it? Maybe not strong enough?

Anyway to clean flavor out of carto?
Yes there are ways to do that. There are quite a few different methods. Search for some u-tube video's for "cartomizer cleaning" If you have a Walgreens drugstore near they sell the syringe that you might see in the video's. Some go to some lengths to dry (oven, overnight, days, etc). When I cleaned some of mine, after I got most of the water out (always a couple drops left in it seems) I refilled them and let them set for 30 minutes of so. 1st few vapes produced little to no vapor, but they perked up after that and worked fine.

Yes it could be the manufacturer and flavor. What is it? I find carto's mute the flavor a little for me.
Trying the REO for your 1st system is a little daunting, but very do-able. Even a little more troublesome on carto's I think. Think of your carto as a glass. When you squonk you want to keep enough fluid in the bottom of the filler to effectively keep the wick wet. Not too much and not too little. A little gurgle is OK, but you want to hear the crackle sound more. Some carto's take some use to get started, working/wicking right.

You have no atty's?

Don't get too frustrated. We are all here to help, even if that means a phone call (I would anyway).

You will be a pro by this time tomorrow!

If you're using SmokTech cartomizers, I suggest you give LR Boge cartos a try. I'd also recommend DSE LR 510 atomizers.

I think recent production runs of SmokTech cartos have had extremely poor quality control. That MAY be your issue.

why do you think that? i just bought 8 of them to use with this mod...that i put away, BTY

I've read several posts in a few different places around ECF about the 1.7 ohm SmokTech cartos being poor performers straight out of the wrapper compared to the same cartos purchased last year.

Do you mind looking on Madvapes website and see if there is any atty/carto u think might help me? I may drive there Wednesday to get stuff so if they have something that might get me through till I can get others through mail it may help.

You can pick up juice that you don't like anywhere. I did have to use more flavor in my juices because of the LR atty's and Cartos I use. But I really think you are flooding your cartos because you don't want to burn them.
They will not work good if flooded. You can blow some juice out. Just take it off and blow into the drip tip. The juice will come out of the holes in the bottom.

Squonking is something you must learn. Most will push that bottle hard and get too much juice. Blind squonking is the best. Draw and a little push, stop when you hear a gurgle.

Like you mentioned before there was a certain time that you got good flavor. That was when the juice amount was just right.

Well even then it was mild but better then this nasty taste. BTW I just blew my brains out trying to unflood it.

Oh you will know the burnt taste. It will cause you to hack up a lung and some have been known to throw things. After taste of one just plain tastes burnt. Imagine what a burnt roll of paper towel tastes like as you try to breath through it. No better description other than that.

There is even a very warm/harsh vape associated with atty's until you get you squonk down. But that's a motivator to get it right. Now i can tell when its close and instinctively squonk.

No problem.

Boge Refillable 510 Cartomizers 2.0ohm

Bridgeless 510 Atomizer, 2 ohms

Low Resistance 510 Spare Atomizer (Bauway)

510 Smok Tech 2.0ohm Atomizer

I haven't tried any atomizers that MadVapes sells, but if I were going to, it would be one of the three listed above. If you're gonna be in their store, blow out the primer, prime it with juice, and start vaping it there before you leave. If it's a sucky atomizer, they SHOULD hook you up with a better one. (without charging you for another one)
