Really want to try a VV PV

but I just finished watching MrAndyman97's review of the Provari on YouTube. Pushing a button 11, 13, 15 times!! to access all those Provari menu functions is just crazy. Can anybody suggest a good VV that doesn't have so many bells and whistles?

I have nevertheless heard good reports on the EVO - "3VO" EVO Variable Voltage Mod - 310Vapers Store

It has a good voltage range for popular resistances and I would buy one myself as a backup (I might just do that today)

It's cheap and effective, a madvapes vv boxmod. For $35 you can see if vv is as good as everyone says it is.

Super value VV - The Madvapes VV box...for $35, it cannot be beat. It is a little delicate, however, so don't drop it.

Good Value - the Lavatube...although some users are reporting issues, they seem minor. The biggest beef is that the unit seems to max out with 1.5 ohm dual coil cartos at 3.7V - anything over and it will self-regulate the voltage down without telling you. 'Body Only' Lavatubes can now be had for US$50

Excellent value - Notcigz Infinity and Buzz...solid, American built PV's that can handle dual coils at higher voltages than the Lavatube. No bells and whistles but both are sleek, cool looking devices and very well made and both go up to 5.7V

Provari - love or hate? You don't have to be a fanboi but that much button pressing seems to bug some folk.

Ne plus ultra - the Darwin...although it seems that fatter tanks won't work due to the swing-arm design.

The latest rage seems to the be the 'variable' voltage system that is actually a switchable Pulse Width Modulation system - see the EVO and the Akston-Hughes SVR...Phil Busardo has a video review up. The 3VO/EVO is actually an SVR repackaged and shouldn't be sold in the USA.

I'm loving the SVR vv mod - just got it yesterday (the full market edition). Love the size and feel of it and its ease of use with the 3 power settings. Going to order another one today (3VO)!

I recently got a Lavatube and couldn't be more happy with it. It's easy to use and works great. I like to switch voltage a lot, so the + and - buttons come in handy.

Can I ask a question about the VV Box Mod from Madvapes? How do you know what voltage you are at? There's no LCD and I'm assuming no markings on the box itself. Do you have to carry around your meter with you and probe it every time you want to adjust the pot wheel?

When I first got it I used my multimeter whenever I changed voltage. After a while I figured out that taste, vapor production, and throat hit were what I was after, not a particular voltage setting. Since then I just turn it up or down until I'm happy, to heck with what a meter tells me should be the "proper" setting.

I have to give a thumbs up to the Lavatube as well. I've had mine for over a month now with no issues. It's simple to use, has a digital readout, + or - buttons for voltage, and other useful features. Not overly huge and works great with my VPX tank. I dial it up in the morning for my "get out of bed" vape and dial it back down for my all day vape. And the great part is I can change the warmth and intensity of my juice any way I want.

Realistically, in a given day, I only change voltage up or down a few times. That means you have to push the button 5 or 7 times, consecutively to go up or down when you want to change the voltage. That's really all you need to know. Occasionally, I check battery voltage just to see how much I have left on the battery and I'm to the point to where I really almost never do that anymore, as I know how much life I'm going to get from my batteries.

I have 3 Provaris, otherwise, I'd probably try a Lavatube, if I wanted to get into VV vaping fairly cheaply. My favorite feature of the Provari is the ability to check cartomizer ohms. I use it every time I open a new cartomizer, because I know about what voltage I will want to set the Provari. Sometimes, if I'm going out, I'll check the battery, to see if I need a fresh one. The button pushing isn't a big deal for me.
As for VV devices in general, I like the Regulated Voltage, and the single battery, as opposed to stacked batteries, idea.

To the OP, In all honesty, the butting pushing with the ProVari should be a non-issue. Like someone said, 99.9% of the time, you press the button and just vape away. Price is a different story. But seriously, it seems like a lot of people think that just because it's easier to switch the voltage on the ProVari than some other VV mods, you should change the voltage every time you take a drag. Not true. For example, I've been using a Liquinator with the same juice and same carto in it for the past three days... I haven't changed the voltage once since I set it to what I like for this setup. For all intents and purposes, I might as well be using a regulated device. The ProVari menu system is designed to make your vaping experience easier, not more difficult. That doesn't mean it's the only VV option by a long shot or that there aren't other great devices out there, but "too much button pressing" should not be your reason for not getting a ProVari because that's not really how it works.
